The temperature getting hot, but we'll get even hotter. We're going to the desert and drive some Toyota Hiluxes in the sand. Additionally, a small surprise, it's a two race event, second race being a reverse grid one.

The headset needs a system on a chip to decode the video from wireless and do computer vision. It's also useful for setup, managing your environment, boundaries etc so your pc doesn't have to deal with it and all that still works when you push your pc too far. I'm not going to sit here and pretend like video compression over wireless isn't exactly what it sounds like.
But it's genuinely overblown. The fuzzy ass Index resolution is so much worse to deal with natively plugged in than a Quest 3 over wireless even with the compression.
I've experienced both and I much prefer the slight compression at 2k resolution compared to Index fuzzy ass 1.6kx1.4kx resolution.

Ideally we'd live in a world where there'd be a wired headset with a great enough resolution and NOT shit lenses (bigscreen cough cough) but until then quest 3 kinda fuckin slapping even with the wireless compression

Not that anon, but I personally went back to my Index and got a new cable instead of sticking with a Pico 4 because of video compression being one of the main factors. I'm also right next to my router and get a consistently good wireless connection, doesn't matter. The video quality absolutely falls apart on wireless with certain details and colours. Also, dealing with substandard comfort and external batteries and playspace calibration is also a negative for me, not sure how that is on the quest 3.

I just don't trust what Pico puts out even if you were using VD with it. Difference for me between Pico streaming and Quest streaming even with VD was so night and day until I did all that stupid apk shit for Pico Connect software instead of their old Streaming Assistant software.
I've also tried VD on Quest Pro as well, not just Q3, and it still blows Pico VD out of the water.

The only ridiculous part with the Index is that they haven't cut the price yet. I wouldn't spend $1000 on the full kit in current year but in terms of actual performance yeah it's crazy how much staying power it still has. The OS software is alright but you don't really interface with it that much. The streamer is decent now but need a strong GPU to encode at high res.
Half price of a quest 3 and you get 70% of the way there so it's still a good deal.

hello blender people, ive been working on shapekeys for past 3 day so my brain is fried. but now i realize my eyelashes arent adjusting with my eye shapekeys (my 'look down' 'look up', etc.. all pull my eyelids slightly).

but im kind of confused about why, i have the vertex groups from the mesh applied to the eyelashes so i figured it would handle the weight but it doesnt. any ideas or suggestions on how to make them stick together?

the eyelashes are their own mesh on top of the skin mesh

kind of hard to see exactly what is happening from your description, but blendshapes are completely separate from vertex groups/weights. Vertexes are only manually changed in blendshapes, so even if they are in the same vertex group, you have to manually edit them to make them change in the blendshape. You can make the pose in pose mode and then apply it to a blendshape

but i think you answered the question....I have 2 meshes - one for body and one for eyelashes. they move perfectly in sync with the armature, they share all the same vertex groups and such. all my shapekeys are on the 'body' mesh, and i thought that since the eyelashes were on the body mesh that moving the vertices on the eyelid would pull the eyelash down with it, but this is not the case it seems.

You should just merge the meshes if you can, it will make it much easier to use a shapekey. I think even if you have a shapekey across both the meshes, the blinking in vrchat won't work if it's two meshes, it only lets you set one shapekey as the blink shapekey
