Tested the PSVR2 yesterday on my PC with that new adapter. Damn it looks good. A lot better than my Quest 2. Pure blacks, wider FOV. Likely lack of brain connections. Normalfags don't actively know how to socialize, they've just done it for as long as they can remember so it is as natural as walking. Unlike previous servers, we're taking a total conversion approach: "co-op Ancient Dungeon but with actual content". After running previous servers, we realized the usual mining and crafting and tech mod progression stuff is just more pleasant in desktop mode, so at most people would only get in VR just to look at their stuff. We'd rather play an actual VR game, and for better or worse, modding minecraft feels like the best way to do it.

Thus, it's a really heavy pack (~400 mods), and it's taking a while to fit it all together. We'll also have to document the shit that is in the pack that you need to know about, so I'm still trying to find tools to pull the mod list into like a markdown page or something.

Performance isn't great, but it's decent enough, and other than the usual Linux issues, I haven't heard of any compatibility problems.
The kernel-level anticheat sucks, but I've run into that enough times with other games that I don't care anymore for what's basically a dedicated gaming PC.

Anon a few threads ago recommended House of the Dying sun. Apart from having to do shortcut commands to actually get it launching in VR, its actually really decent. Low poly, but if that doesn't bother you its a series of quick, action packed missions and the controls easy to pick up. Not a space sim by any means, but a quick arcade action romp. Love it.

VR isn't going to be "good" for another 15 years. We are still early adopters. There are a handful of good games that are worth your time. I like the social presence you get from interacting in VRChat and it helps me feel less lonely because I can't get out of the house much.

We're about where I expected to be in 2017. My reasoning at the time was that I figured there was no way in hell VR would capture a large enough share of vidya consumers that it would direct studios with actual dev/marketing resources to VR.

What really surprised me was Facebook's pivot into Meta and how early in VR's commercial lifespan the Quest came along. Every time I'm chilling on a loading screen I think about this picture and realize that when the tech gets better/cheaper and draws in more devs/users, so too does this encroach. Think about how good the internet was before the ubiquity of smartphones and realize the same thing is going to happen to VR if it ever gets big. You may always have less SDE, but compression absolutely does hurt detail unless you're able to push really high bitrate without any hiccups.
You're also stuck with relatively low bitrate h264 in cases where latency is a factor, and there's no avoiding compression artifacts at Quest 3 resolution with that.

One option you might want to try is uh, fake helmet in VR settings. It reduces your FoV, it's configurable for horizontal and vertical size separately, and it improves performance because the portion of the screen you hide won't render at all. It's a shit solution, but hey, it's a solution of sorts. Could also be that whatever pico uses as a layer to talk between headset and PC is doing something wrong, but let's hope it's not that.

You can probably it's closer to cinematic 45fps than anything else, but you can also see it's nice and even despite high details. I understand the reluctance to run chinkshit or zuccshit but you have to understand that a windows machine is compromised by microsoft anyway. Oh and chrome if you have that; chrome scans your entire PC and reads all the files. It's like refusing to open a window when the door is just broken open.

Change how you use windows entirely; just have a drive dedicated to gaming and boot from that when you game. Then when doing things you want privacy with (should be everything but gaming) you boot into a real OS, or just another windows that's been hardened.

VRC has tons of worlds, from ordinary good looking stuff to weirdest ideas you've seen in your life, the idea is to jump around and see some of those things. Sometimes worlds have mechanisms and purpose, sometimes it's literally just running around and seeing things. Even most boring stuff is kind of fun this way, and you get to interact with people without feeling useless in a social-only instance, so I think it's a good pick for you not to mention that in general, some people really like seeing newfags in there, so someone will probably give you a nice hello. Link appears every now and then under the name of 'SEA exploration'.
