If you're on Linux no, don't bother with VD. ALVR/ALXR is all you need and it's honestly pretty good now. You'll still want to play crossplatform shit standalone because SteamVR on Linux is broken mess.
For coop games look into Dungeons of Eternity, Zero Caliber 1 and 2, Real VR Fishing, Survival Nation, After the Fall, Tactical Assault, Ancient Dungeon, Sierra Squad and ITR2.

We're running R4 cars in Portugal. Shorter stages, more repair zones - enjoy a somewhat easier event, as long as you keep your pace in check. Of the recent negative reviews some were due to a bug on Meta headsets when using meta link, not the Pavlov devs fault. Webm related, there were many different styles of zombie maps back then, now there's only two and they're very buggy.

It was caused by Meta updating the way their runtime interacts with openXR and was resolved in a beta update a couple of days later. It affected everyone on Meta headsets unless they were using Steamlink, VD or ALVR.
Anyone still having issues is caused by something else like their openXR runtime selection being corrupted, UE5 being garbage or trying to use the SteamVR runtime with a non-steamVR native headset.

Push is great but it scales poorly with fewer players unlike S&D which is tolerable down to 3v3. For some reason most of the mappers made gigantic maps for it when even the public server population has been struggling and there clearly aren't enough maps that play well with low playercounts.
TDM or any other casual gamemode doesn't have the depth to keep people interested. People only tolerate the shitty gamemodes in Contractors because mods let you add a ton of variety to the weapons, if it were just base Contractors there would be far less demand to play it.

So I've been having a minor issue with my homo network and this seems like the best place to ask specific question.
sometimes I turn on VD and get 2401mbps connection. everything is great, i get a stable 438ms and it's beautiful.
most of the time I turn on VD and I get 1200mbps, which is...adequate.
after googling around it looks like the issue might be my DFS channels getting pinged by radar?
is there anyway to fix this? I have a fancy tplink gaymin router that's wifi 6.
if i get wifi 6e can it do 2400mbps on lower channels (non-DFS)? or am I screwed because i'm on a glownig island covered in AFbases and airports?
I'm eventually gonna switch to a real pcvr headset (when someone makes a good one) but I kinda like wireless too.

I acquired the quest version of Res Infinite (I bought it on PC but that game doesn't stream very well, being mostly wireframes and simple colours). Played some escape simulator in vr tonight with someone and had a blast. Definitely recommend if you like doing them yourself or have 2-3 other people to do it with. Very cozy and the controls weren't that bad. We did the space levels and the puzzles were comfy but not extremely challenging after some thought. I haven't tested out any of the player made levels but I assume they'll be better than the dev levels.

Please help with lighthouse setup.

Are lighthouses fucked up by sunlight and mirrors in the room? I have a wall to ceiling window on one side of my room, and sliding mirror doors on my closet.

The lighthouse with its back to the mirror but facing the sun seems to be fine. The one in the opposite corner likes to be 90 degrees off and whip itself all over the virtual space causing me to puke my intestines onto my lap as the headset tries to make sense of a universe that apparently only has one point of reference.

What's the best way to orient/mount lighthouses if all I intend to do is play racing sims? I have two tripods in opposite corners, but they're only like 5 feet high. Would they still see my headset fine if they were way away in upper corners?

It uses IR lasers to use time-of-arrival information to calculate the angle and distance of a tracked object to a base station. Mirrors will cause the angle and timing information to be wrong as the incident light is no longer spatiotemporally aligned with its source. Sunlight will cause issues by flooding the sensor and/or causing spillover. You will need to ensure the environment is constrained to prevent these false signals from causing interference. It's worth the effort though, lighthouse is still more accurate than any of the camera based stuff.

The headset sees the base stations, not the other way around. Up higher up is fine but you'll need to orient them downwards a bit so the sheet-beams can sweep the headset

Absolutely. If you rarely look behind you, you'll want to keep them in front of the headset. Definitely experiment with placement a bit. Try one in front and one off to the side, or both in front but in opposing corners, that kind of thing. It's all line of sight based. Also if you have lighthouse 2.0 you can go up to 4 base stations visible to a headset at once, although 2 is perfectly operable for most situations

That's literally what I do too on the instances and events I host. Same with everyone else who posts an instance for /vrg/ here.
We have to prioritize each other on our instances else the limited slots of the world is compromised.

The goal can be had without being overly edgy about it.
For furries, ask them to change avatars and tell them there are people who are uncomfy with furry avatars. Kick if they don't comply tell them.
For randos, tell them that the instance is hosted semi-privately between our thread in-group and that they should kindly leave.

You can be kind while also getting the goal that you want.
