a bit ago. I sure love CSGO season too, wouldn't mind seeing it again
Maybe today will be the day I mod and play Fallout 4.
WRC club!
Very first championship, first event is in progress. 5 events, two weeks each, WRC2. Every stage ends with a long service area, nearly no 35km+ stages, three stages per event, championship gets a new set of stages every two weeks and ends on December 5.

Where can I find assets now that vrchive is down forever?
If you're looking to get more VR gamesand brush some dirt off your shoulder, Fanatical are doing another VR bundle with decent prices (best value at £7.25 per item for 4+ items):
https://www.fanatical.com/en/pick-and-mix/build-your-own-infinity-vr-collection
Some standout picks if you haven't played them already:
Into the Radius - Stalker in VR, basically two games if you try the 1.0 version. Excellent gun play and a fun time scavenging. Personally have 40 hours in it but people have more.
Skyrim VR - Dungeon crawl to your hearts content, mod the shit out of it and watch it crash and burn.
I Expect You to Die series - Single player puzzle action campaign. Rated quite highly and a great VR experience.
Not for Broadcast VR - Play the role of a puppet for British state TV, now in VR! Micro manage the interface of a studio while making sure you broadcast the correct message. Decide what's shown to change the fate of the story.
Fallout 4 VR - Not the best fallout game, but maybe VR will make up for it. Still mod the shit out of it.

How's Hellsweeper VR?

Worth mentioning there's a VR rhythm game bundle on Humble for a couple more days too.
Pistol Whip, Ragnarock, and Synth Riders are all really good.

If you've already played all those and are looking to try something new:
Guardians Frontline - Rough asset flip with a bit of soul. FPS/RTS mix where you fight bugs starship troopers style. Different objectives and you can control the battlefield from a birds eye view with deployable buildings and manoeuvrable units. Good laugh in multiplayer.
VR Giants - Co-op puzzle game with one player as a giant in VR and the other controlling somebody on a flat screen, find a friend and have fun.
Hellsweeper VR - Buzzword bingo: Hack and Slash, Action Rouglike, Shooter, Magic. Not tried it but the steam reviews sound decent.
CONVRGENCE - Another Stalker-In-VR released to Early Access in April. Rough but has potential, and grabbing it for a steal means it's in your library for when it finally hits 1.0.
The 7th Guest VR - Basically a point and click game in VR. Enjoy the interactions, puzzles and story set in a spooky mansion filled with ghosts. Perfect for Halloween.
Rez Infinite - A stylish third person rhythmic shooter with support for both flat screen and VR.
Wired VR Quad Pack - Four games for the price of one (though quality may vary) - Arcade Paradise VR (arcade simulator), GRIP:Combat Racing (arcade racing with weapons)., The Last Worker (story walking simulator), Tin Hearts (Lemmings in VR).
Ultrawings 2 - Arcade flying sim, for when DCS and VTOL:VR get a bit too stressful. Has multiplayer support too.
Racket: Nx - Arkanoid meets squash, break the tiles.
>>496637901
>>496639065
And my opinions on the rest:
Warplanes: Air Corp - Military flying sim with multiplayer support, reviews don't rate it that well if you already play VTOL VR.
Hello Neighbours VR - Why?
We Are One - Time stopping shooter puzzle game. Short and sweet though some steam reviews mention issues with constantly recentering the playspace.
The Wizards - Dark Times: Brotherhood - Single player or 3 player co-op. Adventure and kill stuff (if you can get over some clunky controls).
After the Fall - From the creator of Arizona Sunshine comes a four player co-op campaign in a zombie apocalypse, make sure you have three others or you'll be trapped with incompetent AI.
Arizona Sunshine: Deluxe Edition - Make sure you play this co-op to get over the dreadful writing and pretty boring gunplay. A product of its time being an early VR title.
Man now that i have a big screen vr games are actually fun again and i actually may start choosing to play vr games over flat games
Played like 2 songs on pistol whipped and im hooked (ty anon who posted random codes in the thread long ago)

Is there a group of people in VRChat /here/ who run some kind of tabletop RPG weekly/monthly? I'd love to play and see what all VR can do for TTRPGs.

>>496662685
Some people play board games in VRC, but no RPGs.
Tabletop Sim doesn't work well in VR, so your best bet for hosting would probably be throwing something together in a VRC map.
>>496664459
That's not even a furry but a cute kemono
protip ALL anime characters have snouts and you can't do nothing about it
>>496667307
I will have to photoshop a pole in front of this image soon.
>>496662685
There are few JP groups that run CatsUDON which is very dumbed down and automated Sword World system some worlds have baked in but classic TTRPGs are massive PITA in VRC because filling in character sheets, rolling dice properly and keeping track of things is just generally hard or annoying to do.
Kemono IS furry.
EU Assetto Corsa: European Racing club, season 12!
Race 81.
18:00 UTC 20:00 CEST, Monday 7th of October 2024.
Due to popular demand we gonna drive a some real racecars. GT4!
1 hours practice
12 minutes qualifiers
10 laps race
Afterwards, after all the sweaties are gone, we're going to the REAL event. vrg in a reasonably priced car on the TopGear test track!
Assetto - can be played with wheel, controller, or steam-vr-wheel addon, it doesn't matter, we will all have fun driving together. If you just bought Asseto - grab Assetto Corsa Content Manager - a better launcher and mod manager: https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html To install mods: just drag and drop zip files from mega onto the Content Manager windows and click on the hamburger menu on top right. Highly recommend installing stable custom shader patch and 7-zip plugin in Content manager.
For communication we'll use mumble at voice.vrg.party port 64738, as it doesn't need any registrations or logins.

>and don't have friends already?
>and aren't extroverted?
>just why do people like sit in front of mirrors?
>it supports push-to-talk right? or only open mic?

>is it true that fbt makes people gay?
and one question unrelated to vrc
>how easy is it to use the tracking for motion capture in blender etc, especially hand tracking?
>>496667073
LARP is not my scene, but surely there are LARP groups that meet in vrc? Every real life LARP event I've observed is almost entirely a social thing.

>is vr chat still fun for people who don't drink?
I would say so, there are numerous people around who don't drink
>and don't have friends already?
yeah, most people don't show up already part of a friend group
>and aren't extroverted?
Not a requirement at all, but you do need to actually talk to people. If you just stand in the corner silently then you probably won't get much out of the experience.
>just why do people like sit in front of mirrors?
The mirror standing meta around /vrg/ has declined a lot over the years desu, but it was because people liked seeing their own avatars.
>it supports push-to-talk right? or only open mic?
probably, I haven't tried
>what games besides vrc make good use of fbt?
Not too many. Blade and sorcery has support.
>what percentage of adults using vrc use fbt?
Around /vrg/, probably like 80% I'd estimate. General population, no idea.
>is it true that fbt makes people gay?
No. The people who claim that VR made them gay were the ones who were closeted fags to begin with looking for an excuse.
>how easy is it to use the tracking for motion capture in blender etc, especially hand tracking?
No idea
>>496667307

>>496669813
>The mirror standing meta around /vrg/ has declined a lot over the years desu
it's because people have personal mirrors always in front of them nowadays. You think he's looking at you when talking, but really they've placed their personal mirror in front of you and are looking at themselves

The only ones who are supposed to get kicked are normies unfamiliar with 4chan culture, as they are danger to us with their report button abuse over some meaningless gamer words. Everyone who understands or tolerates chan culture should be here and no safe spaces should be created. Nobody should be kicked because their avatar offends your feefees. For weaklings like you there is an avatar hiding button.

An update on Ultrawings 2:
Currently the game seems to be broken for a lot of steam users on a variety of headsets (Index, Bigscreen, Quest, Picco) and currently the only solution that the dev is providing is "Use Meta's Air Link Software". This is obviously not viable for non meta users, and is the worst way to experience VR for Quest users. Do not buy this game.

Racket: Nx is pretty fun, has an arcade mode as well as a set of campaign levels that introduce the different tiles you can hit as well as the power ups. Sound design is pretty good as well, and has support for playing your own music if you don't like the soundtrack. Also comes with a neat spiral on the floor to show how much you've tangled up your cable, similar to TurnSignal.
>>496724819
It started off originally as a Quest only game so all the problems seem to stem from some poor implementation of "automatically detecting controllers". Even people with PSVR2 via PC adapter are struggling and though there's been a beta branch for Pico support since Janurary 2023 it doesn't seem to have made it into the game.
>>496727747

Youll have to deal with compression, delay, bad audio, bad microphone, and horrible comfort.

>compression
Had only compression when I had a shitty router
>delay

true, get the comfort kit
You left out some plus points:
>higher resolution
>facial tracking
>pancake lenses
>wireless (with good router)
>controllers are smaller and lighter
>better colors (better contrast)
Definitely not a clear cut upgrade, depending on what's important to you.
>>496735969
Its the state of 2024 vr, where there still is not clear cut upgrade from Index. You always loose some, gain some
is the vive stand alone face tracker comparable to quest pro?
>>496735969
>>higher resolution
i mean it is higher, but its not by much. the resolution on the quest pro isnt great and thanks to the better lenses you can see the aliasing more easily.
Nobody uses the quest pro controllers if they dont have to, i have only heard one person say good things about it, everyone else has had constant issues with them, namely overheating but also just other issues

Don't listen to any leashcucks that insist the compression and latency make it not-worth-it compared to Index. These people have never even demo'd a wireless headset yet alone own one and have only used the Index since 2019.
They have no actual experience with compression and latency, they just repeat what other leashcucks say leading to a continuous circle of misinformation.
Tried out Blood Trail. Neat gore system. That's about the only thing the game has going for it though. Don't know why people would pay 20€ for what is just a boring wave survival. Sandbox isn't really a sandbox either so I don't get the point of seperating the modes.
Glad I didn't pay for it.
I think it's funny how nearly every single game review left here always ends with "Not worth the money, it's basically a tech demo"
Why do most VR games suck so much
>>496741109
Because no-one buys them. VR games simply don't sell enough copies to be worth the time and money making a fully fledged game. So people get a concept, release some basic content for it, and it feels like a tech demo.
The exception are devs that are too stupid or too idealised to realise that VR is a waste of time, so the two main VR devs are tech demo creators and retards. Pavlov and H3 for example are both developed by retards.
>>496741109
developing games for VR is way harder and more expensive than traditional flat games.
>>496637286
何が終わった?
>>496741961
That's also a problem; many devs for VR simply don't play VR games. I see it over and over again where these studios just keep reinventing the wheel over and over, every single time showing that they've never played VR games. No-one even bothered doing some research either.
Same problem with Meta itself I bet. No-one plays VR when they get home.

>>496708332
Yeah, that's the plan after we finish the Persona movies.
Found a spooky halloween map
>>496741961
I don't think VR games are that much harder to develop than flat games, just that there are way less of them, so people will actually post reviews of the bad stuff. If you were able to play all the shovelware that gets released on steam (~50 games/day), I bet you'd see a similar ratio of bad tech demos and asset flips.
Still a sad situation, but game engine support is actually not bad these days. Even the meme godot engine has openXR built in.

Hi, boredom tea will be hosted at 18:15CEST (1h from now)
> What?
An instance where people are encouraged to join for a cup of tea and eventual snacks if they fancy it. The instance will be closed after 30-45min
Likely in a simple room with a table and a video player
> Why?
To share relaxing time before bigger instances and after work. With a focus on things having to stay calm and simple. Making it time limited to ensure it is meant to be an in-between time rather than something big. For that reason it will be posted in the thread but as invite+

At first the cable pissed me off, it always felt like it was in the way and breaking my immersion.
It didn't take long to get a comfortable setup, built up the cable management muscle memory and get used to playing with a cable though. Generous use of stick movement is the cable coping mechanism.
However I gradually began to hate it again. If you try to play games without optimising out the fun by overusing stick rotation, then the management ritual starts to grate on you. The cable limits how long you can be immersed as eventually you will need to divert your attention to it, whether it's twisted and then adjust yourself accordingly. Every stage or respawn I was spinning around a few times to correct it and if you don't do that then you're eventually going to need to pay the retard tax for a replacement cable.

Valve is party 1
I am party 2
Who is party 3 in that regard?
Could that be... other developers? Could valve maybe send them data in form of analytics?
What do you think "legal interest" contains? Could it maybe be... your address? Would it maybe be your age and billing information?
Do you think maybe third party could mean they need to bring it to other companies in order to "verify" you bought something?
Do you think that maybe your usage of the steam client gets logged so certain games could be shown to you? Don't you think that those data sets will be forwarded to the owner of certain game pages in the steam store?

pistol whip, synth rider and ragnarock are great
you can use creamapi and unlock all the dlc easily
drums rock as a cool concept but half the songs are the devs own band (which sucks bad) and it fails some of the execution
>>496800998
Synth Riders and Ragnarock are both 10/10. They both have plenty of custom songs you can download but they also have payed dlc. Ragnarock gets regular free music packs still afaik, and has a substantial base library.
Pistol whip is overrated.
I recently got to do a VR experience for a friend's bachelor party where it was six of us wearing wireless headsets in the same 20 by 30 ft space and it was really cool. The games were really simple and pretty much devoid of any depth, but it really felt like the sci-fi idea of VR to be sharing the space, especially the 3v3 multiplayer shooter game.
VR at home is neat but sharing the space with others and actually getting to physically run around it made a big difference. We ran into each other but less than you'd expect.
>>496802124
I think that's the concept with the VR Arena games in warehouses. Got a few here in the country but I've never tried one. Would probably need a 6 person group for it to be worth it.
Due to my schedule being changed i can only host it once im back from work which is around

Anons, the last time I tried VR was around 8 years ago, it was an ok experience. Has VR evolved past there absolute jank? I'm considering buying a Quest 3 but I need some convincing. Is the Quest privacy invasive? Is there headset modding or stuff I need to know? Arkham Shadow looks ok but I need more than that. Was it personally worth for you guys?
>>496852259
VR has definitely improved. If you haven't played for 8 years there's a reasonable pile of games worth playing now too.
Glad to hear, what about my other questions? Also, Quest 3 vs 3S, is the visual fidelity difference worth the 200 burger difference?

get Q3, official meta store is best and usually the cheapest
you can login with a mail, no zuccin needed, if you are a fingerprinting schizo you can firewall it all off to be extra sure

if you want to there are mods to do, we just had a guy that attached Q3 to a welding mask for comfort
instead just buy shit off amazon, there are certain accessories that are basically required, hard strap is a must
>Was it personally worth for you guys?
value-wise absolutely, it's an amazing piece of tech for the price
VRC took a heavy toll on my sleep schedule and motivation for IRL shit, but other than that it's awesome
>Has VR evolved past there absolute jank?
we went from absolute jank to kids toys. VR has plateaued and might not get better for a long time (2 weeks until Deckard)
>>496852259
If you haven't been in the know you should also be aware that a quest 3 can be hooked up to your PC to play PCVR games too. there are lots of good standalone titles but PCVR is where you really get the beefier titles.
That said, getting it to work well might require some tuning; how it basically works is the headset connects to your local network via Wifi and your PC streams the video over your LAN. So a good wifi AP is needed.

>ipd range is worse
You what m8 it goes from 52 to 72, but they advertise less as its in the "pinching nose" range but it allows you to after showing a warning (yes the ipd is motorized)
>Refresh rate
90 is completely fine
>Lower fov
Horizontal is slightly less, but quest 3 has worse binocular overlap, which can cause discomfort, also pico has higher vertical fov which makes it more immersive (you can see more of yourself)
>Pixel density
Nigga pico 4 has more pixels and less fov, how the pixel density can be lower? Think nigga think
>Heavier
It has a proper strap, and the battery is on the back instead of all weight being on your face, its litterally has less moment of force and is more comfortable
Additionally, you have perfectly fine out of the box Pico Connect unlike shitty airlink, you dont need to buy replacement straps, can get cheap good fbt, and the lenses dont have the annnoying vignette, which drops brightness 50% at the sides, additionally its unlocked, you can reflash it, you can install apks by just downloading them and clicking on them, without registering as a developer. And as I said you can get cheap, hassle free fbt which is almost as good as vive trackers, unlike shitty slime or mocopi.

Not the anon who originally replied to you but I have both. The Pico is worse in every single way except for default strap comfort. I can't think of anything the Pico does better otherwise.
It's a fine headset, but there's no argument to be made that it's better than the Quest 3.

>>496860704
>The same fov
>Same screen resolution
>Different ppd

>>496860732
I own both as well and for me the pico has much better binocular overlap, default comfort strap and less friction from the OS. Everything else is better on the Zucc3.
Like the entire appeal of the P4 is getting a good enough package for cheap (350ish~) and they shot themselves in the foot with the Ultra trying to play catch up but selling it even more than a Q3.
>>496860847
Are you actually dumb or just pretendin?
Resolution alone means NOTHING. pixel density can only be calculated with "resolution" in relation to "panel size" you absolute retard.
It either means the Quest 3 has a smaller panel, meaning the same amount of pixel need to be denser, or the Pico 3 has a larger panel, meaning the pixel are more spaced out.
No matter the reason, pixel density is higher in the quest 3.
>>496860847
Read. Really. Just read.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_density
>>496861065
>>496861206
Im talking pixels per degree which is the one which matters. Who cares how big are pixels on the panel, for clarity PPD, pixel per degree is what matters. And its litterally comes from FoV and panel resolution.
You're an idiot
>>496861065
>>496861206
what does the d in ppd stand for?
>>496861376

>>496861657
>Basically the same FoV and panel resolution

2000 pixels, divided by 100 horizontal fov = 20 PPD in both cases. The website is just plainly wrong. You should stop talking.
>>496861840

>>496861840
website literally calls you out too

>2064x2208 pixels per eye enhances resolution by nearly 30% compared to Meta Quest 2 for next-level clarity and lifelike graphics. 4K+ Infinite Display with 25PPD and 1218 PPI brings the best resolution across the entire Quest line of devices.
From Pico's Website, Pico 4 page:
>Pancake lenses
>105° FOV
>20.6 PPD
>62–72mm seamless interpupillary distance (IPD) adjustment
>>496861881
No it cannot, you idiot with single digit IQ reading comprehension.
At most by having weird lens design you can make the PPD uneven, make it higher or lower on different parts of the visible field. But only by basically pinching the screen optically, but most lenes work in opposite way they have barrel distortion, meaning middle of the screen is stretched the most. In the end average PPD of the whole visual field is always PIXELS/FOV DEGREES. Local ppd increase always will cost you by lowering ppd elsewhere.
You should educate yourself about vr, reaf some articles, watch some Valve GDC presentations, before talking nonsense.
>>496862036
>Scamula
>>496862115
So the quest not only has vignetting, but the edge to edge clarity is shit due to weirdly deformed uneven PPD?
Thanks Zucc
>>496862154
>>496862243
>it's always just resolution/fov
What would happen if the screen (in the same resolution) comes closer to you? Would you see more or less pixels?
What would happen if the screen (in the same resolution) is further away? Would you see more or less pixels?
If you can not visualize this, I can not help you. Can you even visualize an apple?
>>496862491
It's okay anon he's one of those people who thinks that the screens in headsets being a couple cm from the eyes causes strain
>>496862471
>but the edge to edge clarity is shit due to weirdly deformed uneven PPD?
Laughably stupid sentence. Quest 3 & Pro literally have the best edge to edge clarity out of any headset bar none because of the lenses.
>>496862243
Where is it wrong?
>>496862115
PPD can mean both "pixel per degree" or "peak pixel density"
Meta made the choice with their headset to have uneven pixel per degree and go for higher peak density at the center of the lense, here they refer to peak density with their value
Pico goes for even ppd across the entire lense, so both ppd values are the same
Each specific choice is not necessarily better, it's just different design
>>496862651
>Pico goes for even ppd across the entire lense
on the pico website
>>496862782
Oh, didn't know that, my bad. Still less variance across the screen than quest 3 however
>>496862889
>Still less variance across the screen than quest 3
Where did you read that?
The Qeust 3 website only gives me one value
>>496862491
If you bring the screen closer to you the fov becomes larger and ppd drops. Youre and idiot.
>>496862957
>Cant calculate average ppd still and cant think for himself
Just stop talking
>>496862957
Quest 3 and pico 4 have similar rendered fov area (quest 3 is 108x98, pico4 is 104x104) while having similar panel resolution
You can assume their average pixel per degree should be relatively similar, so if Q3 have significant higher peak, it means it have to take it away from other areas
>>496863176
>If you bring the screen closer to you the fov becomes larger and ppd drops. Youre and idiot.
Soooo... does that mean you can change the DDP without changing resolution or FoV?
Would that mean that the simple calculation (resolution / fov) wouldn't catch this?
Like I said it could?
Like I said here >>496861881
Where the answer was >>496862154
>No it cannot
>>496863287
>I don't know either
glad we are both dumb
What did we learn today.
Zucc shills cannot think for themselves
Pico 4 has slighty less peak than Quest 3 PPD but more even edge to edge PPD, better edge to edge clarity, and better vignetiting.
Average PPD is a function of FoV and screen resolution. Lens design can locally increase ppd in one part of visual field at a cost of other parts.
Weight distribution matters and Pico 4 has better one.
>>496863440
No if you bring screen closer the FoV increases and PPD drops . You cannot change average ppd while keeping FoV and resolution constant.
No its only youre dumb. Both Pico and Quest have around 20 average ppd, but quest lenses are more uneven and have slightly higher peak PPD im the middle of the screen 25 vs 22, this is a difference not noticable in real life contitions.
>>496863773
>You cannot change average ppd while keeping FoV and resolution constant
Do you... do you not know that you are looking through 2 plastic holes? Which is usually what restricts your FoV in headsets?
Do you think you have free floating screens in front of you?
You guys are also forgetting the visibility mask. Not the whole screen can be visible for users eye for a given lens/screen configuration and lens to eye distance. You might not be able to see the whole screen, which would reduce the amount of pixels in the visible FoV this reducing the average PPD. But most likely both Q3 and P4 are setup to maximalize used screen real estate.
>>496863773
You are right.
I am dumb for thinking I can bring in arguments where you need to visualize things. That was a clear lack of judgement on my part.
I am defeated and will retreat.
>>496863952
Optically speaking yes, there are 2 screens floating around 10 meters away from your eyes.
FoV is restricted by lens design and and screen size yes. But bringing vr headset closer or further from your eyes doesnt change PPD, it changes both FoV and amount of visible pixels.
>>496864182
You cant visualise things thats the problem. If you make the screen optically larger, the FoV of the screen becomes larger, but it doesnt magically gain more pixels, so PPD goes down. Think nigga, think.
If youd brought a sceeen in VR headset closer to the lens it would first:
Make it blurry, because the focus point is wrong.
We could correct that with some lens insert then:
The visual field limited by lenses would stay the same. So FoV doesnt change, the amount of visible pixels would go down, making the perceived PPD lower. There would be a lot of pixels outside of view, which still would be rendered wasting performance, so nobody does that. Every headaet has their lens FoV setup is such a way somit covers entire screen, but leaves the borders of the screen just outside the view, to not bother user.
So yes average PPD calculation formula is still valid: visible pixels (we can assume the whole screen) divided by FoV. You can increase middle peak PPD by reducing edge to edge clarity, which quest 3 has done using a lense which have a pincussion distortion of the screen.
>>496863563
>better edge to edge clarity
brother do you even own both the headsets you're trying to compare?
because I do, and you saying the pico 4 has better edge to edge clarity than the quest 3 is just a fucking flat out lie. anyone that owns both headsets will also just tell you you're full of shit. pico 4 lenses fall off hard on the edges of the display and the sweet spot is quite small.
but im guessing you don't even have both headsets to compare, just talking out your ass.

>>496866150
Then why arent you saying anything about the vignette and binocular overlap issues causing perceived stereoincorrect rings being visible in the middle of visual field? That would shine light on quest 3 being bad headset? >What about weight imbalance speakers and strap which you get rid off immediately because they're so bad?
i get a comfortable strap with two batteries and never have to think about weight imbalance or battery life again. as far as speakers go, i dont like the ones on the quest or the pico, they're both audio built into the strap which sounds super meh.
>shitty mic which makes you sound like youre slurring your words

there isn't any guidance on doing so, so if you want the easiest path to using the latest alvr/wivrn/w.e then you'll need the newest firmware to have it be compatible and not crash on any outdated firmware versions that require an account and internet connection verify the launch of every single app every single time including sideloaded apks

Somebody posted this snippet of a review from the Bigscreen's audio strap that apparently sucks. Anyone have the full link to it? I can't find it and finding indepth reviews of the audio strap are hard.

I just have the koss clip ons and i like them. but i only paid 20$ for mine. There are other anons who here who'll probably tell you about it again.
>>496900525
i stopped using mine because earphones hitting ears when putting it on was annoying
my soft strap setup with a simple 2x 3.5mm to usb-c splitter with quest 1 earbuds does the trick for me
>>496901145
thats alot of work for the lazyfag buyer
>>496900525
I don't know where that review is from but it is pretty accurate. I still use the audio strap with my bigmeme. It is still disappointingly bad audio for the price; still acceptable but I was hoping for index speaker quality. I put up with it because despite trying out a few other mods with the soft strap (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6414143) which are _almost_ good, they're just not as stable or convenient as the rigid back part of the audio strap with the knob to adjust the tension;
If you have the ability to 3d print some adapters and don't mind messing around a bit, I think you are better off getting some cheap quest head strap or the vive deluxe audio strap than the official bigmeme strap. Or at least try the soft strap mods and see if they work well enough for you. If you're lazy though, the official strap is easy and good enough, and way better than the default strap. jewish price though.

Quest 3 mic pisses me off so fucking much. On my Index I could piss and throw cans and the Index mic picked them up perfectly. Quest 3 on the other hand filters that shit out, and I'm currently looking at buying a wireless lav mic to fix this
>>496907320
don't know if you are writing this ironic, but I actually really hate the noise filtering that meta does by default, and you can't deactivate it.
>>496906469
Two more slots.
>>496900525
The review was from some guy in the discord who made it a pdf attachment. Here's the first part of it (it's only this page and the one you posted)
>>496907494
I was serious, it actually pisses me off, fuck meta. I'm legitimately looking at buying this just so I dont have to deal with the noise filtering shit. Only thing I have to figure out is keeping it fully charged since it only has a 5 1/2 hour battery life

I cannot believe I've heard some chucklefucks say it's among the best VR audio quality on the market, better than the Index even. Almost every impression I've heard of these had been it's just "alright".

>I cannot believe I've heard some chucklefucks say it's among the best VR audio quality on the market, better than the Index even.
Bigscreen shills are as rabid and as full of shit as Pimax shills unfortunately.
Just remember how not a single shilltuber mentioned how abhorrent the lenses are and how bad the edge to edge clarity is when the reviews for the headset first started coming out.
>>496908471
I just remember how THIS will CHANGE VR
>>496908471
I can completely respect people who prefer the BSB if they prioritize weight over literally fucking everything else in the VR experience, but what kills me is the rabid defense of it where the shills act like it is THE best at everything and totally revolutionary instead of a headset with major compromises like everything else that just does 1-2 things super well almost nobody else does.
The CEO being a lying piece of shit literally sending out emails to encourage people to astroturf and review without disclosing they get merch for it doesn't help things. Put me off the company entirely.
>>496909036
Every new product is the most revolutionary game-changing VR product according to these people.

>I cannot believe I've heard some chucklefucks say it's among the best VR audio quality on the market
can't say I've seen much of that but I only probably watched a few pre-release/beta tester videos before I got my audio strap super early
we knew way ahead of time they were just koss drivers and those aren't anything special so if someone convinced themselves otherwise to get hyped up then they're retarded
>how abhorrent the lenses are
literally all videos mentioned distortion at edges
still fine for daily driving vr as pretty much every headset on the market (yes even the zuccbox) have imperfect lenses
that's just the nature of lenses and we won't be solving that until we figure out lightfield displays properly or some shit like full dive lucid dream control or some shit
>>496912567
>literally all videos mentioned distortion at edges
"with a bit of distortions on the edge, but it's not even that visible blabla"
>>496912968
as someone who has used vr since Rift DK1 its very easy to basically ignore the extreme edges of basically all hmd lenses
perhaps all that experience has trained me to do the wrong thing but the larger pancakes of the pico 4 pro also suffer from glare/distortion at the edges so its not purely a tiny beyond magnified optics kind of problem
even with glass aspherics you'll run into sweetspot issues or chromatic aberration if you're not in the right spot etc

The current options are better in some ways and worse in others. With the right setup, I think the tradeoffs are usually worth it, but it depends on what you're looking for.
You're not going to have any sort of reasonable discussion about it here thoughand you probably already know that.
>>496932298
Its horrible for any game with a lot of movement and detailed irregular textures.
>get a quest pro to compare to existing headsets and see how true the shilling really is
>passthrough is shit
>strap comfort is pretty bad
>need phone app to sign in for setup
>controllers are already showing signs of not being in the right spot relative to headset multiple times from initial tests
>charging dock is pretty finicky to place things on, know that its slow at charging anyway
>gray screen for eye tracking calibration immediately shows that the painted-on vignette for their lenses on the q3 originated here, very noticeable on a flat color
gee sure hope v69 update fixes all of that!
not sure what all is needed to sideload apks but dev mode seemed immediately toggleable so hopefully that's all I'll need
>>496932298
Visual quality? No of course not.
Experience? Depends how much the cable bothers you and what level your setup can get the wireless visuals to. There's a lot of variance between games in how noticable the compression is. Skyrim takes a noticable visual hit and I'd prefer to play wired. Walkabout minigolf hardly changes and I could never get a comfortable cable solution for that game.
>>496933653
See, that's what you get for listening to shills. Hopefully the face tracking is worth it for the tradeoffs though?
>>496933653
literally everything on the quest 3 is better except for face tracking and local dimming, plus its half the price

i already have a vive pro eye with face tracker and pico 4 pro for eyes/face technically as well as a babble on the way
im mostly biting the bait to see how the headset actually is in real life rather than in the dreams of what it apparently is supposed to be
>>496934392
>except for face tracking and local dimming
which are basically the selling points
q3 isn't even on my radar
>>496934556
why do you need 3 face tracking headsets?
>>496934712
because those are the headsets that have those features yet none of them are good enough overall
>>496933653
>>controllers are already showing signs of not being in the right spot relative to headset multiple times from initial tests
If you bought a second hand headset you have to delete physical space cache else the tracking will get confused.
In the headset go to Settings>Privacy and Safety>Device Permissions
At the bottom of that it has "Clear physical space history"
That would force your headset and controller to start creating a new internal cached of what your place looks like.

It's almost as if face tracking is a deadend literally nothing and nobody supports because VR teleconferencing proved to be complete meme.
>>496937582
HTC sadly only supports it on the Focus series now ie the upcoming Focus Vision
Pimax uses eyetracking in the Crystal and Crystal Super for foveated rendering and the tobii module is usable externally
Babble is open-source and gives a platform agnostic means of doing face tracking
EyeTrackVR is also open-source and gives a platform agnostic means of eye tracking
with the resolution race ever continuing standalones will have to include it or be limited to fixed-foveated-rendering; but pcvr headsets certainly should include it for foveated rendering possibilities as well as their resolutions increase
i have a rifts, if i want to get some full body tracker what would be the best ?
was looking at slimevr trackers the price seems the most affordable but in term of compatibility and software idk if they fair
>>496937921
Eye tracking has good applicable uses and should be default for sure.
Face tracking? Not so much.

>qpro pancake lenses let text be legible until just before the very edge which is neat
>however, there is obvious discoloration at the edges of your vision either from the lens vignette or from the lcd panels, not sure which
>software is fickle and already forgot my playspace since I didn't opt in to share my point cloud with big zucc
>the ui is honestly not great when I just want to turn on the hmd and get to an app for wired/wireless streaming because it keeps opening windows for shit I don't care about as it starts up
>tracking data in VRChat seems quite sparse in its polling rate, but this is probably a shitty OSC limitation
>tongue tracking wasn't very good and doesn't have any directional tracking, not that its a huge issue but definitely shows a lack of data compared to HTC Face Tracker
>if local dimming is on I honestly can't tell if its supposed to be working; doesn't look anything close to OLED but some blooming is visible and I can notice zones getting a bit darker depending on scene if its toggled on/off so it must be doing something

the b100's (or whatever comes with the S3 headstrap, the one with the fan in it) are their newer ones and work fine for quest3. I get about 2.5hrs per battery, maybe a little longer if i'm not using much passthrough.
with 2 batteries I can go indefinitely just charging them when I swap.
mileage may vary on if you like the halo strap or not. I find it comfy, it's my favorite of the 3 I've tried, but other anon doesn't like it.

The S3 is good and the batteries work great. Was annoying to put on thought.
>>496973852
I'm thinking about switching to a Japanese futon but I'm not sure how I feel about sleeping on the floor (room is carpet so I'm worried about dirt/bugs).
>>496997998
Snow Crash and Diamond age predicted 2020 and forward down to a fucking T. Read both of those books.
t. Cyberpunk fan.
>>497000181
It's Cyberpunk every day I don't need a month.
>>496997389
Bobo is fine, even using the batteries that don't "fully charge" the headset i can still last forever just hot swapping batteries, it's not like the headset drains to zero it just doesn't go above like 80%
S3 strap with the new batteries fixes that issue anyway
>>496983827
Not trusting any of this shill shit.
Any thumbnail of a video of a VR headset with a red arrow pointing to the headset can be completely ignored and written off as dishonest shillshit. They all do it. (see >>496909381)
>>497004003
Uh or just look at who uploaded it kek
>>497004057
Yeah I saw it was by HTC, they're doing the same tactic as shilltubers use but with their own products, it's gross.
>>496933653
>passthrough is shit
yeah I kinda think that's what killed the headset, meta massively oversold the passthrough. it's usable enough to grab drinks or whatever without taking off the headset but that's about it.
>strap comfort is pretty bad
I think it's pretty good for short sessions, but you need some kind of top strap to make it comfortable for vrchat length sessions
>need phone app to sign in for setup
yeah meta sucks
>controllers are already showing signs of not being in the right spot relative to headset multiple times from initial tests
It takes a few sessions for the tracking to stabilize. Changing lighting conditions can confuse it too.
>charging dock is pretty finicky to place things on, know that its slow at charging anyway
eh, it's fine. not being able to plug the controllers into something while using them is annoying (my vrchat sessions never outlast a full charge however).
>gray screen for eye tracking calibration immediately shows that the painted-on vignette for their lenses on the q3 originated here, very noticeable on a flat color
never really thought about that but if it's why the lenses are so clear I'll gladly take it
>>496944421
>dev mode requires toggling on both device and phone app for that particular device for USB Debugging
I don't remember what I had to do for that but it was a one time thing because I immediately deleted the app after setting up the headset.
>qpro pancake lenses let text be legible until just before the very edge which is neat
Honestly the lenses are why I shill this headset. I hate the lenses on every other headset I've tried. The sweet spot nonsense is so uncomfortable.
>however, there is obvious discoloration at the edges of your vision either from the lens vignette or from the lcd panels, not sure which
yeah the very edges dim a bit
>software is fickle and already forgot my playspace since I didn't opt in to share my point cloud with big zucc
I don't think it's related. I've never allowed point cloud sharing. It used to be a bit finicky but I haven't messed with my playspace in months
>the ui is honestly not great when I just want to turn on the hmd and get to an app for wired/wireless streaming because it keeps opening windows for shit I don't care about as it starts up
It didn't use to. Not sure if it's something that can be disabled.
At least it's usable. HTC's UI doesn't even let you drag around the main menu.
>tracking data in VRChat seems quite sparse in its polling rate, but this is probably a shitty OSC limitation
I think it is yeah. Try it out with a meta avatar in your home mirror to get an idea of what it can do.
>tongue tracking wasn't very good and doesn't have any directional tracking, not that its a huge issue but definitely shows a lack of data compared to HTC Face Tracker
Tongue tracking wasn't available till somewhat recently. I agree face tracking on my XRE seems better.
>if local dimming is on I honestly can't tell if its supposed to be working
Never really paid attention. It being actually enabled for this was somewhat recent.

Also, someone here recommended The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect a few weeks ago. I recently finished it. Is whoever recommended it in the thread today, or will you attend any of the Thursday VRC events? Would be fun to discuss the book.

Hi, since today is the first Thursday of the month, it's time for the "Monthly Board Game".
As usual, the session will be at 22:30CET/21:30UTC (~3h from now)
(You) will have to choose between:
> Quoridor
An abstract strategy game where your goal is to reach the side of your opponent first with your pawn. Move and summon walls to meet your goal. Note that the VRChat prefab only allows the 2 players mode
(Rules: https://www.ultraboardgames.com/quoridor/game-rules.php, World: https://vrchat.com/home/world/wrld_f910e97c-2327-4483-87c7-110aac7989eb)
> Poker
The gambling game that is not mahjong
(Rules: https://www.wikihow.com/Play-Poker, World: https://vrchat.com/home/world/wrld_ff0b45e3-c832-4c65-9ddb-406803a30ddc )
> Cat in the box
What if Schrödinger was instead making card games? A tricky card game where your cards colors aren't defined until you play them!
(Rules: https://pegasus.de/media/pdf/39/18/8f/4250231736483_en.pdf, World: https://vrchat.com/home/world/wrld_25b22957-bc13-48c3-bc6f-cc56310e7f5b)

>>497024047
Depending on how many anons want to do stuff we could do Tabor, TAVR, VAIL, HyperDash, Grapple Tournament, Gurrah or some memes like Iron Rebellion or Vox.
Honestly maybe just TAVR is fine.
>>497025085
tavr as the swat game? if so I'm fine with that but I'm not good at it
>>497023104
Join lobbies that involve you to talk to people while doing an activity. See the post above yours
>>497025283
Alright, TAVR lobby going up shortly unless someone else chimes in.
IDK where the usual post is so: LOCO Thursday in about half an hour, watch the thread for the world link. Come hang out after work at reasonable EU hours to chew the fat, drink a beer and chat about VR headsets.
>>497025892
>TAVR
wait people actually play that here? im down
just got to buy it now
>>497023240
i got sm brain damage f rom meds but is mostly ok
hoping my controllers have enough charge, I forgot them when first posting
I bought a vive tracker. That is all. Thank you.
>>497026032
It gets played every time new patch drops.
TAVR lobby up, code 1488, make sure you're on 0.8 beta branch.
>>497026032
Every major update/beta version gets a lobby or two. Just don't expect high level teamwork and tactics from /vrg/.
Never played skyrim, should I play it normally before trying the vr version?
>>497028390
No point, you don't gain anything from playing it flat. This is after I've played the game tons on PC and Switch.
