Display wise it skullfucks everything else in it's price bracket. It's probably the best wireless consumer headset right now for the price and many people here use it for pcvr regularly. With a decent router the artifacting from wireless isn't too bad and wired it works fine enough if you buy an extra cable for it. You really only need basestations if you want to use index controllers/fbt with it properly.

Yes but it would mess with the tracking on lighthouses too. Reflective surfaces and cameras/IR do not like each other for tracking purposes. Consider installing a tensioned rod to hang a curtain off of.

lol no. It's a USB 3.0 cable that costs 80 dollars because it has the facebook logo on it. Get a generic cable, but make sure it's USB 3.0 or 3.1. The brands that specialize in VR accessories sell some that are nice and long. You also don't need a cable, but if you have shitty wifi or want to play while charging, it's a nice-to-have.

I don't know if there's any automated process, I always just go into blender and reduce the poly count by hand. I usually end up baking any skin tight clothes in as a texture, and deleting any body mesh thats hidden. I recommend not keeping any toggles for clothing or anything, too expensive for the quest limit.
The specifics depend a lot on what you care about preserving the quality of.
Once you get everything below the 20k poly limit, the other limits are easy, just join the meshes and don't have too many physbones.
Any more automated seeming process for this will turn you into soup and it wont look good, which given only questies will see it who cares, but if you care, then you should do it by hand.

2016fag here, almost everyone in that picture is not an "original" member of the community. Most of the OGs were gamerips since MMD wasn't really known and VR was still dominated by techies who ordered the DK1 and DK2.
However, I do think the initial anime influx in 2017 is what finally got it to become popular enough for streamers to take notice. Other platforms like AltSpaceVR, Meta Horizons etc. force you to be ugly and I think the appeal of social VR is looking more attractive than you are IRL.

TTS in VR is pretty rough, but I think there are some games that'd actually benefit from it, namely tabletop miniature games. Picking up pieces with your hands is better than trying to wrangle them with the mouse controls. Games with lots of cards and text are definitely worse in VR though. As fun as it would be to play some MTG, the controls will just fight you the whole time. Oh also the voice chat is unspatialized, which is a real bummer for socializing compared to vrchat.

Outside of vrchat board games, Demeo is actually pretty fun and polished. I almost recommend it except it's way too expensive at full price.

Dunno, depends on the levels of autism you want to put into it, possibly also on hardware. My VR linux experience was as follows
