EU Assetto Corsa: European Racing club
Race 91

19:00 UTC 20:00 CET, 3rd of March 2025.

HELSINKIIIII, THUUUNDEEER. We're getting on 90ties GTR and going to the country of fastest men - Finland!

1 hour practice
12 minutes qualifiers
10 laps race

Afterwards, going all the way to Vladivostok to drive around a small scenic track.

Assetto - can be played with wheel, controller, or steam-vr-wheel addon, it doesn't matter, we will all have fun driving together. If you just bought Assetto - grab Assetto Corsa Content Manager - a better launcher and mod manager: https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html To install mods: just drag and drop zip files from mega onto the Content Manager windows and click on the hamburger menu on top right. Highly recommend installing stable custom shader patch and 7-zip plugin in Content manager.

For communication we'll use mumble at voice.vrg.party port 64738, as it doesn't need any registrations or logins.
https://www.mumble.info/

I can't recommend enough Crew Chief
https://thecrewchief.org/
He's a helpfull AI fellow in the pits who'll provide you information about your car, your opponents, yell at you or try to encourage you. And most importantly, he will spot for you, in case you have a car in you blind spot.

UI radar are immersion breaking and basically cheating, but this guy will tell you verbally if someone is there on your right. Download, install, select Assetto Corsa in game list, press "Start application" and it should work!

Bonelab happens every saturday at 19:00 UTC. It's in a sticky, avatar upload instructions included, but every now and then someone's surprised to see webms from hosted games and learn it's even a thing, so it's probably worth an occasional mention before the game happens

I'd like them to be on VR first. Sorry...
FBF ergo Speed Dating when it was first created was placed specifically on February for two reasons.
1) To get the new friends in who got their VR headset during christmas/holidays. February is the perfect timing for this as they run out of single player games to play and they start trying out multiplayers like vrchat.
2) To shift focus the usually romantic based holiday into a friend based one instead.

This is a limiting belief I think. We have anons advertising other threads all the time in 4chan. RO and HDGG threads does so but it is because they were looking for players.
Are we looking for players? It's a viable method. Pavlov and contractors may benefit on that too. But I get what you mean this is trying to solve an issue that is not there at the moment.

The beauty of /vrg/ is that we’re a mix of so many different board cultures, all coming together to share one thing: our love for VR. That’s what makes our community special: the diversity of people, perspectives, and experiences that shape the friendships we make here.
By advertising fbf across the site, we’re not just inviting new faces we’re expanding our horizons, making unexpected connections, and creating memories with people we might never have met otherwise. More friends, more perspectives, more fun. Why limit something great when we can grow it into something even better?

The fact that fbf has been growing naturally over the past few months is amazing! It shows that people are excited to be part of /vrg/ and that our community is alive and thriving. Advertising isn’t about fixing a problem, it’s about welcoming even more great people into the fold. It’s a chance to reach those who might love what we do but just haven’t found us yet. More friends mean more perspectives, more unforgettable memories, and a stronger, more vibrant /vrg/.
Instead of fearing "bad actors," let’s focus on the awesome people we will meet because every great friend in /vrg/ was once a newfag, too.

Sounds like the problem is on their side then, no?
They don't even need to "constantly check" on it. It's literally just once a week.
I think people can manage to check the thread for this event one time, on a friday, in a week.
If they can not do this, do we really want them here?

I'm repeating the "once a week, on a friday", because it is a very important fact that the world link isn't posted "whenever". It's posted friday night. It's not a surprise. It is a regular thing and people can expect it to be posted here.

Please answer for my mental wellbeing, because I can see you dancing around this question of mine.

>NO BENEFIT
The clear benefit is that only people who actually bother to check the thread will come.
Your TDA rando friend from Just B will not be able to join.
Your furry rando friend from your furry hangout will not be able to join.
Generally, people who have nothing to do with /vrg/ will not join.
All because they do not check the thread.

If you can not perceive this as the clear benefit that it is, I frankly question you even being here or wanting to hang out with /vrg/ in the first place.

Once you're certain something's off, try giving them a tiny little tap while they're running. Do not do that if you're not certain it's operating incorrectly, because then you're just putting unnecessary stress on your perfectly fine base station. You can set them to shut down and boot up alongside steamVR in settings, it's weird that it's not on by default. You can also turn them on and off with a smartphone app, on Android it's Lighthouse PM, there's also iOS equivalent. Most convenient way for me because I have a shared playspace, but maybe it's worth a mention because honestly it's quite convenient

I don't like the idea of these meets being hosted and posted by one person or discord group, which it has been. We don't need another Tipsy Tuesday.
The unfortunate thing being that if someone else now decides to host their own instance, and if it's a friends+, they're just gonna be attacked and called a rando/rando enabler now, probably by the gremlins screaming "just read the thread" in this thread. But if it's invite+, it's going to look like a direct attack at Fent Friday.

He's not wrong, in this situation it's one of two, make it friends+ and then you look like you're trying to make a point about inviting third party, or make it private, post it in the thread, and now you look like you're trying to divide people.

last friday we had friends+ instances with people though, and no one seemed to mind. Hell, I'd say it's healthy open market like that, have closed instances, have open instances, let people decide. Friday instance was full of people despite other big instance, so I guess people enjoy joining through the link and having a closed one. I sure won't be judging anyone for posting a friends+ during friday time.

Power to set up an instance? I dunno, I'm fine with just about anyone doing that. Could be one specific person, fine by me, doubt this power can be abused in any meaningful way. Invite isn't the same thing, but it does run the risk of someone expressing personal dislikes, and the fact people can't tell opinion between moderation is a problem. Groups have the ability to appoint more than one person as moderation but then also have the same problem, along with the ability to ban so that's either better or worse depending on how you look at it. The other games solution to this was to make an unused alt the leader then immediately abandon that account.

Yeah, I mean index controllers. VP2 shouldn't be a particularly bad headset, and if you're playing VR games(tm), I imagine there's a chance it could be preferable over Q2. I guess my point was that you should carefully estimate the value of headset for your uses before getting rid of it, because I bet controllers are spoiling the experience like hell, and that could keep you away from noticing some upsides. Not that Q2 with FBT is a bad choice by any means, just be careful before deciding on what to do with a headset itself. Q2 will also require you to align playspaces between LH playspace and Q2 playspace, that's bit of a downside, definitely set it up and see how it works before deciding on your solution.

But any choice is a good choice in your situation. Fucking luckchads and their full VP2 kits for $400, i swear

This is what I did to get 2018-2020, I would just have a conversation with new faces. You can tell within a few minutes of talking to someone if they are from 4chan or not.
People these days just screech about randos and don't seem to want to put in the effort of actually interviewing them a little bit. The interview process is great because not only do you casually learn if they are from 4chan or not, if they're randos trying to infiltrate you'll get some ammo against them for when you make the case against them.

Furries I'd just kick on sight. Furries are culturally different and them changing avatars (temporarily...) is not the proper solution.

Racing people tend to have a general feel for their speed, I doubt you're actually checking your speedo before taking your corners in racing games. And rally is a very visceral kind of racing, too - sometimes drivers don't even know the stage they're running on, and then they take those corners at speeds as seen on video going purely by codriver saying the corner is "3", and then even that number is just a very vague description that's related mostly to how the corner severity 'feels like'

hey, only one way to find out how it feels like. join, join

my rule of thumb in rally is "the number codriver says is the gear you should be on", then you adjust depending on class, your ability etc.

In tarmac racing it's also, more like "which gear I'm on" feeling than pure speed.

Lots of rally cars don't even have speedometers
It's pretty useless. What gear you're in and what RPM you're doing gives you your speed anyway. If you're high RPM gear 4 you know you're going faster than low RPM gear 3. You're always driving by mostly feel anyway; you're not scientifically going okay I can take this corner at exactly 143.5km/h, it depends on approach, road conditions, car, tyre condition, weather, etc etc so it's not practical to do it by number.

I think there's a long, angry autistic argument that could be had about "what is a community" and "what is a lot of overlap" and that such an argument is really just a semantic argument over opinions about the same thing, which is the natural and continuing degradation of the monkeysphere.
Whether you wanna call them sub-groups or separate communities, I have friends all over and I don't think that lines are all that important.

I also think that people who come to 4chan and then are surprised to find that people here are degenerates are silly, and that it's even more silly when they start acting like they're better than their fellow anons for whatever arbitrary reason.

I think you should be very suspicious of anyone who tries to tell you who you can hang out with or what category you fit into.

It's been obvious for a while that PCVR doesn't have enough money or hype around it to drive development beyond shoestring budgets or indie devs. The hope that passionate devs would convice their bosses to add a VR mode into their flat game is dead. PCVR sales are still enough to justify porting from Quest or PSVR2 but that's hardly encouraging.

I've been looking at the weekly Meta Store stats for as long as they've been posted, it's equal parts sad and hilarious. Pic related is a F2P co-op 'horror' game loaded with microtransactions, probably made by one guy and certainly not for anywhere near $10 million. It got popular several months ago and still sits reasonably high in the revenue and playtime charts, while games like Metro Awakening fell way down in less than half the time. The top earners on the Meta store are increasingly F2P and it's rare to see a new singleplayer game remain in the top25 or top50 for long, it's heavily multiplayer or casual/social. It must be even harder to justify spending that $10 million on a singleplayer VR game.

Valve should take the budget they put into their own VR games and pay developers to add a VR mode to their game.
Many shitty shooters and such, but 10% instead of 30% steam if you have a VR gamemode(that works / is according to spec) would make PCVR dwarf quest, and would still be less budget then valve developing their own VR games.
Tldr
Official Steam VR mods of flat games.

It's the same thing other devs have been saying for a while, and it shouldn't be any surprise. If you want to be able to keep making games or even just keep supporting the games you released, you need to be able to at least break even on them, and for the PCVR market that heavily limits what you can actually make.
The higher production value PCVR games that people seem to think would releasing if the Quest didn't exist unfortunately didn't ever make sense to make, even though a few companies made some bets on VR around the Vive/Rift/PSVR release.

Meta store is a phone game store, just like Quest is a phone VR headset. You don't pay 40€ for a phone game, you make it F2P and make some money of players and alot of money of whales.
Also, CS2 not having a VR mode kinda hurt. Valve is a storefront and could use their storefront cut to promote VR games like here

As much as people like to act like Pavlov is just CS in VR, they're pretty different games, and just porting CS to VR without major changes wouldn't work. Instead of a VR mode for the existing CS, you'd need a completely separate game.

I don't think anything Valve could do for VR makes business sense anymore. The whole 'deckard plays flat games standalone' thing sounds believable precisely because it benefits from and feeds back into Steam's massive market because just catering to VR users isn't enough anymore.
What would VR games or VR mod/modes do for them? If the flat games are already being made without Valve money then they still make money from the flat version sales. If it drove people to buy VR headsets statistically it's mostly going to Valve's competitors. It grows VR but why should they care?
I used to be mad that they didn't port their old games or make a better SDK for Alyx but it feels like the ship has sailed now, even with all the rumors of their next headset ramping up. I won't be surprised if this is their last foray into VR.

The only way PCVR has any chance is if standalone takes off enough that PC users wind up encountering standalone VR in their daily lives, find it useful, and then connect the dots between that and using the PC they already have to get more out of the headset they have. Either that or a miracle happens and someone actually sits down and figures out how to make useful applications that take full advantage of PCVR and then sell them to people who already have PCs for useful things. Gaming isn't gonna do much for PCVR on its own

actually unfortunate
I just think that friends+ has the rather big downside of someone needing to 100% always be ontop of who joins, while the invite only link in the thread means the host can have at least a breather once in a while

Your comment I took issue with was
>why is this the only person not dressed as a free use whore
This is a loaded question where you imply that all but this one dress like free to use whores. Which is not correct.
You can now move the goalpost to
>look at these cherry picked images
but the premise of your question is wrong to begin with.
It would be like me asking you
"Why are you so coom brained that you describe 'free to use whores' to digital avatars showing skin?"

How would a confession event work exactly? There's that one room in fbf with the confession room.

Confession is that I have been using virtual reality event creation as a way to gain deep respect as a I make something that my friends enjoy and have fun in. I think real life is starting to catch up to me now though.

Open mic voting event
Every round someone has to get up on the stage
5 jurors write down questions for the person on stage has to truthfully answer.
Audience can vote which question has to be answered.
Once the vote has concluded, hilarity and public humiliation ensues.

My guy they asked for a confession. The grave is not at all related to how I chose to run and make events; this leads well into the next anon's question though
>>516198080
Time allocation. That's about it. I worked hard on fun projects in VR using so many hrs whenever I am out of work in real life. Real life work is already taxing and I thought I was being smart trying to balance real life work with fun times in VR. And making events is fun for me but now I feel like just having good savings in my bank is not enough.
It's hard to vocalize but my emotions are trying it's best to guide me too. It's currently not allowing me to feel any sense of joy or happiness until I have my own business irl.

So that's currently what I am doing. For the past two weeks I have dedicated every waking moment of my life constructing a business. Something to take a risk on with my time, savings and future. There's a few more details I won't divulge but yeah.
It's a weird feeling.

Thanks for reading my blog.

I couldn't get it to run normally on my 3090 without it

(even shit like leaving the Moza software open causes the game to run like utter shit lol)

Interesting point. This test pushes VRChat limits so hard, it passes the point where X3D cache is usefull. That point is already a ridicilous amount of items/animators, but the test pushes it tenfold. Hiding the performance boost you get in vrchat in realistically scaled worlds.

Is VR worth it if you're mostly intending to play mods of non-VR games? I mean yeah I'll surely play Alyx and a bit of VTOL and probably mess around in some racing games but I mostly play one-and-done singleplayer games and the VR offerings in that realm don't look terribly good.

that alone makes VR worth it. If you're even remotely into racing - especially sim racing because I can only name a few VR-ready non-sims - then you won't regret it, guaranteed. It just makes it so much better.

Depends. HL2VR was great, and the Unreal injector is really cool, it's a question of how much you're okay with playing with motion controls in games not built for them so you're dealing with things like static reload times and other such stuff that feels bad in VR but works fine in flat since it's just a button press.

Singleplayer stuff you can't get on PCVR. Batman, Asgard's Wrath 2, Resident Evil 4, Assassin's Creed Nexus etc. A lot of the better multiplayer games don't work on pirated copies but some still do.
High movement or latency sensitive games are usually preferable on Standalone than wired/wireless link. Eleven Table Tennis, anything from the rythm genre like Beat Saber or Ragnarock.
Otherwise it's just anything you think looks fun and don't have or want on PC.

Yea, there's a solid set of games that are 1) first-person and 2) not menu/text heavy that work really well in current VR (and depending on how much you like the base game, the menu/text parts might not bother you as much). I think it's best to think of VR as a peripheral for that genre of game, same as like a wheel or HOTAS are for racing/flight sims. You can play the games without the peripheral and still have fun (and sometimes it's not even worth the extra setup hassle) and outside the game genre the peripheral is entirely useless, but where it works, it works really well.

Eleven Table Tennis for example doesn't work in multiplayer. The singleplayer is good enough but if you really get into it you'd want to play against real people. Ragnarock was another I suggested and it's not a big deal but the pirated version doesn't work in multiplayer.
Real VR Fishing, decent on your own but is nice with friends too.
Ancient Dungeon. I thought it worked but the below list says it doesn't so maybe a patch broke it.
Green Hell isn't half bad on Quest but the co-op only works for legit copies.
Dungeons of Eternity is one of my favourite standalone games but it's coming to PC soonish so I'd suggest waiting patiently for that.
If you didn't have access to PCVR, being locked out of mods on Contractors because you're on a pirate copy would severely limit your access to the game.
Thankfully most of the better multiplayer games have PCVR versions. The only game where I think the Quest version might be appealing to a PCVR player is Pavlov Shack because the playerbase is still so active.

Here's a list here for what works and what doesn't. Many do work, which is cool.

ive been using the puppis s1 and while it can do 500mbp/s h.264+ i get really bad lag spikes every 30-60 seconds that drive me insane
ordered one of those charging link cables now and wondering if i have to setup anything or if its plug&play

Link cable works ok, sometimes the quest 3 will have issues negotiating power draw which will lead to it pulling less than it can and being power negative. That said you can just buy the $120 wifi 6e minion router and that would do the job without putting you on a leash or even a cheaper regular wifi 6 router and you'd probably be fine. If you haven't, make sure virtual desktop bitrate is on auto or being manually tweaked because if you slam that shit to max there will be issues even on the best possible router I've found.
Anonymous No.516267208
>>516266569
nah the puppis s1 router already cost 80$ im not gonna drop another 120
as i said the thing does 500 but the connection shits itself a lot for some reason
i used to run it without the auto adjust bitrate and i dont really remember if it lagged or not but when i played some today it felt horrible

I use a link cable, but use Virtual Desktop and have an AP right on top of my tower, so that I can use FBT. I don't even need the cable to play the game, I literally just use it to keep the headset charge. I don't even use an official cable, I got a sixteen foot USB-C cable for like $30 and I have never had an issue with it. Even when virtual desktop took a shit on itself and was lagging like crazy after an update and I did use questlink it worked perfectly fine.
