In one and a half more weeks, the /vrg/ soccer team will face off against /xivg/ (Final Fantasy 14 General) in the Grown Ass Fucking Men Bowl (Friday, March 21st @ 19:00 UTC/3:00pm EST)
We will then be going up against /mjg/ (Mahjong General) the following weekend (Friday, March 28th @ 20:20 UTC/4:20pm EST)

Leashcuck and Compressionlet will be promoted to strikers while Unity-chan and Boomer will hold down to the midfield in these friendlies.
Mahjoomer and Flavor of the Month Booth will have their models updated to the new Ichihime and Milltina respectively, and new players Minion Router and the Robot Tenga Arm will take the field.

Have also been thinking maybe a Flat2VR player with the Postal 2 guy as the model.
Any recommendations on what a good name for the Flat2VR player would be? "State of the Industry" or "Absolute State of VR" maybe?

I enjoy 4chin restrictions, I find it meaningful to have short video limits, small filesizes, and less means of carrying the information through. Feels to me like it filters out lots of noise, requires some effort, makes people carefully choose what they want to show and then thanks to that there's less serial webm spammers around like myself. not that i hate myself for it, but i imagine this place would be unusable if everyone would start mass posting videos

also more than happy to provide it, though it doesn't sound all that dramatic in my opinion

I don't know about poiyomi, but I know Crosstone on the testing branch at least has a tint mask option you can enable. I think it uses the green channel but slotting a b/w mask in there should work. That probably doesn't help much, though.

Turns out the solution was using decals.
Instead of putting a texture there you can just select a color and then plug in a mask in the "Decal 0-3 Mask" slot.
Slightly unsettled by the 89,48 MB next to it though.

EU Assetto Corsa: European Racing club
Race 92

19:00 UTC 20:00 CET, 17th of March 2025.

Japanese AWD time. We're going to Okayama Grand Prix with trusty Toyota Celicas. Turbo whine, flooring it on grass, powersliding, we'll have it all.

1 hour practice
12 minutes qualifiers
8 laps race

Afterwards, we're going all the way back to the old europe with some driveable cigars.

Assetto - can be played with wheel, controller, or steam-vr-wheel addon, it doesn't matter, we will all have fun driving together. If you just bought Assetto - grab Assetto Corsa Content Manager - a better launcher and mod manager: https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html To install mods: just drag and drop zip files from mega onto the Content Manager windows and click on the hamburger menu on top right. Highly recommend installing stable custom shader patch and 7-zip plugin in Content manager.

For communication we'll use mumble at voice.vrg.party port 64738, as it doesn't need any registrations or logins.
https://www.mumble.info/

I can't recommend enough Crew Chief
https://thecrewchief.org/
He's a helpfull AI fellow in the pits who'll provide you information about your car, your opponents, yell at you or try to encourage you. And most importantly, he will spot for you, in case you have a car in you blind spot.

UI radar are immersion breaking and basically cheating, but this guy will tell you verbally if someone is there on your right. Download, install, select Assetto Corsa in game list, press "Start application" and it should work!

I did shortly after that screenshot, yeah.
There are a lot of weird little kinks I need to figure out.
Like... I have an alpha gradient, that makes some bangs in my face semi-transparent. Of course I need to switch liltoon to transparent as well.
If I do this with Poiyomi, the mesh looks fucked up. I can fix this with the "early Z" option in the render settings, but now the hair doesn't cast or receive shadows anymore.
This isn't the case with liltoon, as I can see the shadow clearly.
Need to figure out how to do this.

turn based strategies are fun but i would argue grindfests in VR are so much more fun (the one i posted is also co-op) BECAUSE of VR hands. just VR in general. if flat2vr took to cyberpunk and implemented full motion controls with manual everything, 2 handing weapons, reloading, pushing buttons, swinging swords, turning steering wheels in a vehicle..

i'd replay it thrice over. and i already finished it on flatscreen.
basically, play VR games.

im going to get a shirt on my vrchat avatar someday that JUST says "PLAY VR GAMES" in full caps, and a toggle-able sign that says the same thing.

My bad, I actually didn't notice.

I really just grabbed the first full version I saw on youtube with animation, and the same opening (some latin or made up language or something) without watching the whole thing.

Some of the chords in space oddity sound really similar to those of eonian.

And Chris Hadfield's playing reminded me (perhaps partially because of the chords) of the ending of Rakuen Tsuihō.

RPG's specifically or just GOAT'ed VR games in general?

also, if you're new, literally hop on vrchat for 3 days and get used to smooth locomotion. you have to get your vr legs. if you dont want to get sick.
my protip is to take off the headset after long stretches of movement every couple of minutes, look around, breathe, wait 5 seconds then put it back on. i NEVER got nauseous in VR because of this, back when i was getting my VR legs. i can now spend 8 hours straight in every vr game ever and i am just fine.

there wont be much point to playing if you dont get your VR legs.

oh man, you're a complete clueless newfag. that's fine, but just do what i said, and come back to us in a couple of days.

if you felt nauseous after a ROOM setup this hobby might not be for you to be honest lol.
you're going to immediately throw up after 30 seconds of smooth locomotion. basically, since i can bet you dont know what that means - its moving with a joystick, just like ANY OTHER console/pc game when you're playing with a controller. it took developers a solid year to figure out people can get over sickness initially induced by such movement, and enabled ACTUAL games to be made.

..which im going to assume you literally never played. beat saber and super hot are not actual VR games.

there's MANY MANY MANY more excellent VR games to check out by the way, but you NEED to get VR legs to enjoy any of them. for all of my friends, VR legs was a matter of 2/3 days.

for me i was zooming on my second day and even after a couple hours in vrchat, on flat, simple surfaces. took me a few days to get used to more bumpy roads and shortly after that i got used to flying.

It doesn't have to be permanent sickness, just an initial one where the brain has to adjust to the feeling and concept of seeing movement but not actually moving.
HL:A got me sick and I felt my body moving when I laid down in bed for a couple of days, like my mind was 50cm offset from my body, but nothing ever since unless I deliberately try to provoke it (spinning clockwise IRL and counterclock wise in VR)

Take it slow, take breaks, its literally a thing of getting used to, especially if you're older.
You might have not gotten sick from it on the others because framerate / resolution was shit + the excitement counteracted any confusion your brain might've experienced.

kek, I remember Boneworks giving me weird hyper-awareness of the existence and exact position of my arms and hands, because those things were getting stuck against walls and objects a lot in there. Played it for days, took off headset, and then I just had this annoying constant awareness of how my arms are positioned, I felt like they might be in incorrect position IRL even though I feel exactly where they are. It's hard to describe, it's kinda as if I was suddenly fully convinced that my arms are wet noodles that might be bending away at any time and I'd never know.

Good times.

Your body is just moving up and down even though you are perfectly still. After a day at the theme park it puts a smile on my face, the VR one was a bit worse because I felt slightly sick on top of it all.
It will go away with this if you take it slow, take off the headset immediately if you feel like that again and just play normal games, I'd give it a week or so before you get fully used to it.

okay, if you're on pc - first of all, you're going to need virtual desktop. its like a 20 dollar app or something, and its MILES better at image quality than basic air link or even cable link. even if you dont have a good router, from what i understand after speaking to fellow anons that have a quest, is that you can use virtual desktop instead of the meta link app even if you have a wired connection and set the encoding to AV1 and have superior image quality.

do NOT DROP THE REFRESH rate, that will make things worse. in fact, max it out, to 120hz. that's one thing - second, set your OPENXR runtime to whichever app you're using - oculus runtime if using meta app, virtual desktop runtime if using virtual desktop - do NOT run the SteamVR runtime with a quest.

also, do not fucking play standalone, ever, unless you want to play exclusive standalone quest games.

also, the quest 3s has a HORRIBLE field of view and that might cause some dizziness at first. you really, really should have gotten a quest 3 anon.

if you play ITR make sure to turn the enemy count down, otherwise you will struggle progressing when you are spending all of your money from missions on ammo leaving none left for upgrades. about halfway into the game the enemies turn into giant damage sponges unless you can afford the premium ammo. weapon upgrades are more expensive for the later weapons and ammo also costs more for the later weapons

>different weapons that use the same ammo do vastly different damage

>its MILES better at image quality than basic air link or even cable link
You can crank the Link bitrate up a good bit with Oculus Debug Tool and get it pretty close, so it definitely has it's uses for seated or latency sensitive stuff.
Wouldn't use Air Link over Virtual Desktop or Steam Link though.
>you can use virtual desktop instead of the meta link app even if you have a wired connection and set the encoding to AV1 and have superior image quality
You can't use VD wired, and assuming you actually have a GPU that supports it, the tradeoff for AV1 image quality is going to be higher decode times on the headset side. It's really more ideal for things where latency isn't really a concern.
>max it out, to 120hz
If you actually push 120 that's fine, if not, you're worse off than using the default 90.
>>517559109
>You're saying Vrtual Desktop is better than using the headset wired?

I should add to the Virtual Desktop discussion that your experience with any wireless VR software for the Quest is going to heavily depend on your network setup. I'd probably just keep running wired for the moment while you're still getting used to it.
If anything, play around with Steam Link first to make sure you can even get a decent connection to your Quest since it's free and stupid easy to set up, then grab Virtual Desktop later when you want to start tweaking more.

Most major vr games have standalone and pc versions. Standalone versions usually run worse/at low settings. Its basically pc vs consoles but in vr.

Into the Radius, Resident evil 4, sniper elite vr, walking dead saints and sinners 1/2, wanderer the fragments of fate, Batman arkham shadow, metro awakening, No More Rainbows, Stilt, Barbaria, Skydances Behemoth, Budget Cuts Ultimate

Multiplayer: Hyperdash, Breachers, Pavlov shack (no pc cross play, vr counterstrike with mods), Onward, Contractors Showdown exfilzone (battle toyale and excelent tarkovlike), Contractors (has good mods and just overal cod vr feel)

pavlov, contractors, exfil zone, breachers. soon definitely FOREFRONT (AAAAAAAAAAA IM SO EXCITED IM GONNA SHIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLL) that's shooterslop. there's also golf, fishing (buy the standalone version of that, and ONLY of that game, everything else we play on pc) there's the quake quest slop as well but i think that's free to play. hyperdash, that's free. racing slop is asseto corsa and WRC. flight sim slop is VTOL VR. personally i also like my space slop in the form of no man sky, but you need a good pc for VR in that game.

personally, i also need buddies to play crossfire sierra squad with and survival nation. crossfire is an arcade shooter, survival nation is pure zombie rpg slop.

Pavlov and Walkabout are both fun and get fairly regular lobbies here, Pavlov still has a decent number of players outside of that too.
Contractors and Breachers are fun, but don't get frequent lobbies here. Playerbase is fairly active for both though as long as you don't mind pretty regularly getting thrown into games with kids.
Modded Bonelab might also be worth it if you wanna show up to the Saturday lobbies for that, but I wouldn't recommend it otherwise. Multiplayer works on pirate copies anyways if you just wanna try it out.

There are disagreements on how much they matter, but it does exist and I think there should be a warning about it for any newfags reading it, and that if PCVR is all they care about the Index or BSB might be a better option. I myself almost bought a Quest under the misunderstanding that using a link cable wouldn't have latency and compression like wifi does, which would have screwed me over since I get autistic about rhythm games

have a hard time believing that but that's good if it's true. How tough we talking? the denser the notes the more the timings matter. I'd be more worried about Ragnarock though, where minute timings are everything

Can't remember exactly which songs since I haven't really played on PC since the last multiplayer lobby, but they were harder than default Expert+.
Was fine up to the limit of my skill level at least, but I kinda burned out on Beat Saber a while back, so I can't play the super autistic stuff.
Messed around more with the pirated native version than with my old PC copy though, if I was actually going to play it a bunch on Quest, I'd probably just use that even though grabbing modded songs is a bit more of a pain.
I assume Ragnarock is worse over wireless since the timings matter for scoring, but I apparently never tested it. Going off my experience with Beat Saber I assume it'd still be playable with the correct offset, but any variance is obviously going to throw you off more there.

I just got very tired of it after about 15 hours, especially when armored enemies started spawning before I could purchase AP ammo, then in areas they didn't before. Combat was becoming tedious, not hard. I could have pushed through it and "overcome the challenge", but that isn't fun for me. New enemies that required different approaches other than "buy extra expensive ammo or magdump" would have been more fun while also being a challenge to overcome.

yeah well that's part of the game anon. the economy and juggling ammo types IS the game. you're playing it wrong if you didnt buy AP ammo which is for, guess what, armored enemies.
also, you have to consider caliber and weapon. like i said in my original post. high caliber guns dont neccesarily require AP.

Airlink worked
VDXR worked only if you launch via VDs game menu
Any option that uses SteamVR (including Steamlink) did not work properly

It's games (and devs) like these that demonstrate why we needed OpenXR. Implementing (poorly) two APIs then taking away the option to choose which one to launch can leave users stuck with a broken product.

Do it to this site instead though:

They offer date search as a paid feature so if you adda harvesting script on top of their free search and then sort the dates yourself you hurt their bandwidth.

It's about the same relative to flat gamedev. Definitely easier than consoles, no NDA or devkit. PCVR is about as easy/hard as any flat 3D PC game; quest is more annoying with the whole android toolchain and remote debugging and all that, but faceberg has paid a lot of money to smooth out the rough edges. You can even run the godot editor (not just the engine) on the quest natively; I think it's mostly a tech demo but might be cool if you like clicking around in 2D UIs in VR.

That's not to say I'd really recommend AMD over Nvidia unless there's a massive price difference, but there's other reasons for that.

The dev of hyperbolica made that game to demostrate curved spatial geometry in VR.
He does other neat coding projects though.

For example. His newest game.

I hate this one and have been vocal about it. Instead of improving grenades to be easier to throw they just remove the physical skill expression by making an objectively superior throwing method. I saw 3 people fuck up manual grenade throws today because the physics for them are so floaty and bad.
Anonymous No.517771030 Replies: >>517772112 >>517774963

You are never going to make physically throwing grenades work on anyone who's using an Index controller because the grip release is always very unclear and inconsistent. The best you can do is try to shotput it so no matter where it releases in the throwing motion, it's going the right direction, but this is still retarded and dumb, so making grenades function requires providing an alternative control method which is fine.

The fact is, even a shotput throw sucks dick in Breachers. The velocity is all sorts of fucked up so even on a good controller it's difficult to come close to the range of assisted throws, never mind the accuracy. The bulk of their players aren't Index users so this isn't a deliberate change for that reason it's just dev incompetence and rampant player skill issues being covered up by the new throwing system.

Or they realized that if they made grenades essential utility, they shouldn't cuck out the players who aren't using a Quest/Pico, so rather then spending time trying to implement them as a precisely thrown object, it's better to just add a standardized control method that works agnostic of controllers. Also, while most people have moved on from the Index HMD, the amount of people that still use the Knuckles with either a hybrid setup + Quest/Pico or any of the billion Index upgrades that don't come with controllers probably see Knuckles used by a good percentage of PCVR players, even if they're a minority to standalone players.

BIRD UP
Anonymous No.517818782 Replies: >>517818880 >>517819147
There’s a quiet ache that lingers when I think about Bullets and More VR, a game that flickered brightly in the early days of virtual reality, only to fade into obscurity like a forgotten pioneer. Released in 2017 by Patrick König, a solo developer with a passion for firearms and innovation, BAM wasn’t just another VR first-person shooter—it was a bold, ambitious experiment that felt years ahead of its time. Back then, when VR was still finding its footing, I stumbled into its chaotic, unpolished world and found something special: a sandbox of possibilities that rivals like Pavlov VR and Onward took years to catch up to, if they ever did at all. Today, it’s considered “dead”—its servers empty, its community scattered—but the memories of those 12-player lobbies in 2017, and even playing alongside Patrick himself, still burn vivid in my mind. Articulating this feeling is like trying to bottle a ghost: it’s a mix of awe for what BAM was, sorrow for what it became, and a bittersweet peace in knowing its time has passed.
Anonymous No.517818880 Replies: >>517819147 >>517819215
>>517818782
Reviews from back then echo this sense of wonder. On Reddit, players marveled at how Patrick, a gun enthusiast, nailed details like the weapon attachment system—still unmatched in some ways, even now. One user called it “a development playground,” built on player feedback with a dizzying array of features: climbable walls, vehicles that defied VR motion sickness fears, and a spectator mode in battle royale where you could shrink the world into your hand or fly around like a god. Steam reviews praised its “unique and innovative” mechanics, even if they admitted the UI was clunky and the graphics—let’s be honest—weren’t winning any beauty contests. It wasn’t polished like Pavlov, nor as tactically tight as Onward, but it had heart and ambition in spades. Patrick updated it relentlessly, sometimes joining us in-game, his enthusiasm palpable through the headset. I remember those nights: the thrill of a full lobby, the chaos of a helicopter dogfight, the camaraderie of a community that felt like it was in on something secret and special.

Anonymous No.517819215 Replies: >>517819306
>>517818880
But ambition can be a double-edged sword. Looking back, I can’t help but feel Patrick spread himself too thin. He juggled so many modes—team deathmatch, capture the flag, zombies, battle royale—without fully fleshing out the core experience. The game felt like a brilliant prototype that never quite found its focus. By 2019, its player base had dwindled to a whisper. Pavlov surged ahead with modded maps and a growing community, while Onward doubled down on its milsim niche. BAM, despite its innovations, couldn’t keep pace. The 2020 pandemic, which boosted VR as people sought escape indoors, didn’t revive it—its moment had already slipped away. Player counts that once hit 30-40 at peak hours in 2017-2018, as some estimated, were long gone. It’s a stark contrast to the thousands now flocking to polished titles like Contractors or Population: One.
Anonymous No.517819306
>>517819215
And yet, I don’t resent its fate. There’s a strange comfort in accepting that BAM is a relic, a time capsule of VR’s wild early days. It didn’t need to be the prettiest or the most popular—it was a proof of concept, a love letter to what VR could be. I still hear the echo of those 12-player lobbies, the laughter as we fumbled with vehicles or stormed a custom map someone had slapped together. I still feel the rush of landing #1 with the Revolver in the shooting gallery or landing a headshot with a bolt-action rifle across a jagged, player-made arena. Patrick’s vision gave me that, and no amount of “dead game” status can erase it. BAM wasn’t perfect, but it was mine—a fleeting, messy masterpiece that dared to dream big when VR was still a frontier. All I have left are those memories, precious memories that not even the next big thing in VR can kill.

vive face tracking is better than meta's face tracking, it tracks more things, it tracks eyes individually and it tracks tongue movement
you'll always be limited by your avatars face tracking setup though so there probably wouldn't be that much difference with booth avatars
you would notice the difference in models with realistic human faces that have had the tracking shapekeys set up to match all of the vive face tracking points
Anonymous No.517823926
>>517823550
the original vive eye + face tracker addon is the best face tracking released so far so you can go see the difference by looking at a comparison video between vive eye face tracking and quest pro face tracking
focus vision and xr elite on paper support the exact same number of tracking points as the vive eye + face tracker so vision's tracking is somewhere between vive eye + face tracker and quest pro face tracking

just contribute to the thread being on topic, people will stop by and it won't look gay and actual vr gamer newfags might start showing up

the game is actually pretty good (story and characters suck but who actually cares, it's a game about flying tie-fighters)
best I can tell, since I got it years after release, is people were still up in arms about battlefront2 and EA, and this game died in the crossfire.
the fact it just has a tacked-on VR support, that runs surprisingly well, and extra controls you can assign for HOTAS that are outside of the scope of campaign is just icing on the cake. Some team at EA really gave a shit about this game and it died as collateral damage to lootboxes in BF2

At the same time I don't want these creatures here, because they don't really care about vr, what they really care is gay sex in next gen of SL and high-school drama, vr games are just foreplay for them.

meta has been becoming more and more open in the last 2 years.
maybe if they abandon VR, they just like, let their OS and shit go opensource? I think it was like 5 months ago they said they were going to allow 3rd parties to use horizon OS if they like, and only Asus has taken them up on the offer so far?

The balance, or lack of, in multiplayer and basically no content is what killed it. It needed more of everything but there just isn't much to do in Squadrons compared to playing XWA with all the mods and custom missions.

I mean I don't have much to argue. You're right, it is wishful thinking. He is definitely the archenemy of VR, and would be of other mediums if he had the power.
them being open weight for llama does reek of desperation, but maybe because he's desperate to be the next google he does something good on accident?
or not, the original question was about quest games support on deckard, which the obvious answer would be no, unless zucc throws in the towel and just lets people at it? (alot of quest games have pcvr ports anyway)

I'm not enough of a techie to know but being android based, what stops someone from plugging in their Q3 and just downloading the OS from it? it's already easy as shit to pirate quest software, surely if they closed up shop someone would be able to support quest headsets from beyond the grave?

As long as someone has the copy of SDK there's nothing stopping anyone from supporting Quest long after Zucc pulls the plug, Quest 1 is officially dead but you can still use it no problem. And they did open up Oculus Go when they axed it so there is a precedent.
At the same time aside from Linux VR efforts which are mostly reverse engineering, there is NO open VR runtime, SteamVR, Oculus, WMR, Viveport, VisionOS, AnrdroidXR - it's all closed and tightly controlled by parent company.

All the "AI" stuff at facebook was by B-teams in the background. Zucc gave 0 fucks about it. Once they realized they got something good, they said "fuck it, might as well build some good will and put us on the board".
Zucc saying that they were all about ai now is just retconning things after the fact.
I was monitoring that shit closely when all that happened.
Anonymous No.517832046

They needed to be open to get more people on board so they could catch up to everyone else that got on the AI train long before them.
Their AI shit in the Raybans is making them more money than Quest now so maybe they'll get the memo.

I did that, not worth it unless you have a 4090. It does not run nice with uevr native stereo so you have to use a fallback rendering method which kills performance. Ignoring that I don't think the game is worth it, combat is good after a bit but the damn quests are so bad, just boring kiddie stuff.
Maybe if you really like HP, the world is pretty nice looking, though you may not enjoy it even with a 4090 due to performance...

yeah last time this thread discussed UEVR games was like uhhh idk, 2 years ago-ish when it came out?
kinda quickly fizzled once most people realized UEVR is dogwater for performance and just a "hack" to getting Unreal Engine games to run in VR, but not a real playable mod.

Some games are just plug and play though, assuming you want to play them in 3rd person.
Played pseudoregalia that way and now I am trying lies of P, had to put it at dlss balanced and lower graphics to high but runs at 90 native on VD godlike on my 4070ti super, at least on the starting area.
Also tried palworld but aiming is a pain because the cursor is on the UI which shifts when you move your head, really needs a mod that just puts a line from you character to whatever are aiming at.

Yeah I took a look at it, check out the 'issues':

* Marines and Vortigaunts do not engage with Houndeyes or Bullsquids as heavy firefights cause the game to CTD.
* Only Half-Life 2 VR weapons are supported.
* The G-Man, Blast Pit Tentacle, and Ichthyosaurs appear in-game but their AI is buggy.
* Xen portals do not work. Xen aliens spawn immediately on map load.
* Dropships are not currently working and have been temporarily replaced with Apache helicopters.
* The jump module does not work. Platforming sections currently require using the "noclip" cheat.
* Soda dispensers do not work.

The hl2vr mod is actually fully playable, if a bit untuned balance wise

not really, at least nothing built for VR. There are plenty of RP groups in vrchat for various settings but you have to make up most of the sandbox part and really lean on the RP since udon is so limited for scripting gameplay stuff. Pavlov has some lighter RP things like TTT, but the only mechanics you have are guns essentially. I think you can technically play actual gmod in VR still, but it's very janky and probably won't work with existing RP servers.

Weirdly, I'd say vivecraft is probably furthest along in having good enough VR interactions and also good enough sandbox mechanics and mod support to put something compelling together.

Oh, also Valheim actually has a surprisingly decent VR mod, and the gameplay is pretty good for light RP (as long as you like vikings anyway). It's not as smooth as vivecraft but if you have a dedicated crew you can definitely cope with the performance issues.

Are there any servers set up like that? I'm not into early access survival craft but I'd be tempted if there were DarkRP styled servers with a smaller preconstructed map.

not that I've played personally but I think they exist. valheim keeps your character and inventory is persistent across servers, so you can jump into others without starting from scratch (if you want). >>>/vm/ has a valheim thread up still that might have server recs.

Decided to take a walk down memory lane and appreciate how far we've come.

I started with a CV1 in 2016 and moved on to Rift-S then Index and now Quest 3. It seamed like a small jump forward each time. So I wanted to go all the way back to the start.

I dug out all my old CV1 gear. It was in bad shape. A lot of tape, foam pealing off, and the speakers died ages ago. At least I had a spare fresh cable in the box. Setup was easy, surprised the software still supports it.

Man! once I was in I was not prepared to remember how bad the old days were. The Fresnel glare, the blurry edges with distortion! Sure it's OLED but the subpixels are so fucking huge it doesn't matter. Hello pantile OLED my old enemy! I really had forgot how bad screen door effect was!
To think this blew my mind back in 2016. I clearly recall being annoyed by all the issues listed above, if it didn't feel so magical back then I never would have got passed this.
Now I'm throwing these thing in the garbage and never doing that again. They really do feel 10 years apart in tech.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

It really isn't worth the hassle desu. I think just getting the texture memory down to a good point (below 200mb is a good starter) is the least you can do though. Lower the better without sacrificing the actual quality if you can help it

Yes but you're not going to like it.
The stick itself is physically damaged. The only solution is to replace it by desoldering it from the board and putting in a new one. The stick module you're looking for is FJR06K-S.
https://youtu.be/s4R7GnDEV5o
this is an old video going through the process with (not great) desoldering technique. It's a challenging desolder if you don't have a hot air station. The minimum you'll need is a sucker, some wick, and a variable temp iron, and something reasonable to hold the board (do not hold it with crocodile clamps they'll damage the board)

The ratio of "weapon for men" to "automatic gay shit" is still too low. It should approach infinity instead.

I could and I did. The issue is not it being unfair (which it is nevertheless), it's about it being unfun.
In VR, reloading is half of the fun.
There is more to life than just squeezing the trigger after pointing in the general direction of the enemy.
