The winning championship /vrg/ soccer team will be having a friendly match against the previous tournament's champions, /lcg/ (Limbus Company/Lobotomy Corp General) this upcoming Sunday, October 5th, at 21:40 UTC/5:40pm ET.
The NA VR watch will (probably) be the following Friday, October 10th @ 11:30pm ET.

Also, as the championship team we get to "host" the next tournament that starts in December, meaning the entire tournament gets to be VR & /vrg/ themed.

depends on what you're trying to get out of it. If you want practical models for games or maybe 3d printing and want to get up to speed quickly, you're best off with blender and its regular keyboard/mouse controls. It's stable and there's tutorials on how to do any specific thing you want.

If you're just curious about 3d art/sculpting in general, it's fine try out the VR modeling apps and see how you like them and even if they suck you'll still learn something. If you do make something good, Expect a lack of tutorials and bugs though, and you'll probably need to also use blender to get the outputs into game-ready form (e.g. retopo and rigging) anyway.

unity/unreal are game engines, not modeling programs. Useful to learn but you'll need blender in combination with them.

Vive linkboxes have a very nice physical power switch. Exit vr - on e button click and headaet goes unpowered and all usb devices disconnect. Its a shame index and beyond dont have that.

Probably because game is not nearly as performant as DR/DR2.0. With a 3080ti, I'm running it at moderate resolution (not too low because then edge shimmering gets unbearable), on low-to-medium settings, and with a tiny bit of "helmet" vignette that also helps with performance through obscuring parts of the image. If you have index controllers you can map the touchpads to animator parameters using OSC, basically making them function as a pair of 2-axis radials and buttons.

You can just set up a standard 2-axis puppet in your expression menu but that takes time to open and prevents you from moving while open.

There are endless ways to allow your hand positions to control a transform within the avatar, I'm not sure what is available in prefab form. This doesn't necessarily have to block hand input, like your wrist angle could control toes while your hands move normally. This would probably the sweet spot of intuitiveness/ease of implementation.

EMP isn't really ally that bad once you get used to it, when you know at what point the animation ends and your system shuts down getting in cover and booting up again is second of time. Problem is you have to learn this the hard way, there is hard meta and hard counters to the meta on top of the classic arena shooter flick shots and fast movement. short answer: pavlov. long answer if you like playing S&D and want to play in vrg lobbies then pavlov. If you want really streamlined sweaty "competitive" 5v5 matches then breachers. If you want extraction shooter or battle royale then contractors showdown/exfil zone. If you want wacky (but also jank) mods like cawadooty or TF2 or star wars, then contractors.
