My take on this is that WRC does a better job on making you feel like your car has grip. DR2 kinda felt like your car never truly grips, feels like it has a smooth linear float grip value that never ever reaches 100%. WRC has a pretty well defined moment where your tyres lose it, and anywhere before that, they stick to the road like hell. It's particularly obvious on tarmac, though I'd say you can also feel it on loose surfaces. I think this helps a lot with slow cars, because at least now you have grip you can use instead of constantly struggling with a car that's both slow and completely refusing to stick to the surface.

Hi, managed to fix the issues, so here's a free avatar thing: https://github.com/jiray-yay/VRC-OpenFadeOut-liltoon

Basically it allows to add a fadeout/fadein animation to your avatar. Normally (read: backup your project just in case; it literally relies on making Unity crash when installing it) it is non destructive because it is implemented using ndmf and modular avatar.
Main reason why I implented this was that I bought a booth asset that gave you this effect, but required you to completely destroy your materials and because this effect could be cool for dancing performances

Any sound you make the enemy can hear too. Running can be heard from a long distance, slow movement shuffling only up close.
There's a tiny, difficult to see triangle icon that shows teammates through walls (useful for when you hear footsteps nearby so you don't TK your teammate).

It's not that reliable or important most of the time. Sometimes people blip the radio accidentally. There also used to be a radio bug where the static noise didn't stop until you pressed it once.
I only listen out for it early into a CT round or when there's only one enemy left somewhere on the map or when the T side attack is looking dicey and it might be worth rotating. Not knowing maybe costs you a few seconds before something else gives it away.

EU S&D is pretty sweaty as a whole, as in there are people who have played thousands of hours and thousands more in CS on the exact same maps. The best players will usually split across teams and/or handicap themselves to keep things balanced, and you can still have fun with the right mindset, but it's not easy mode. I feel like any personal avatar gimmick isn't going to be as marketable simply because the people who're inclined to spend a large amount of money on those sort of things are going to be fine with Unity while also wanting the files so they can customize them or whatever. The real advantage that the marketplace would have is that you could easily standardize a system between everyone's avatars without requiring everyone to adopt yours out of all the competing options, especially if it's available by default to everyone who owns VRC+ in a basic form. There's existing lasertag prefabs that work based purely on avatar to avatar interactions, but if you could ensure that everyone in the lobby has a gun that interacts with it and then allow creators to offer skins and other variants on things that interact with said system for an upcharge, you'd have an actual reason to engage with the marketplace as a VRC whale, and even moreso if you could drop the guns for your lazy friends which an avatar gimmick currently doesn't really do.

VRC team needs to just fucking go around, world hop for a couple of days, and see what cool things they wish they could use regardless of the world.

I've had a lot of issues with some games having bad overlapped in scoped sights. Especially modded contractor weapons for example. Line up target with right eye scope, it looks overlapped but the shot goes right by a good margin.

I toured around some vrchat worlds for an hour today.
Man, too many people are bad. It lags, it crashed once, its loud and the people are weird. No people is kinda lonely, nobody is there to show you around worlds. But less than 8 or so strangers can be alright.
Sucks that vrchat's menus are pretty bad for getting random worlds.

For a first buy, just get anything that's popular. I think this Pico is a great option. Once you have that, you'll play around and decide what are your needs and wants. New, absolutely not, but if he'd get an used index set for a price that justifies it (say, $400), I genuinely think this would be a very good option. Index is old, but it remains an absolutely wonderful bundle. Great audio, good enough image, competent controllers (as in, compared to wands), it's supported everywhere and by everything without a hitch, it does nothing wrong aside of being pretty much a "previous generation" headset. I'd honestly recommend it over Pico, unless anon insists on wireless - not because index is so amazing in 2025, but because it's a perfect "default" to use, enjoy, and eventually move on from. And then you can use remains of index kit for lighthouse FBT later on.
