You can obviously do whatever you think would work though. Or possibly even implement some way to duplicate a card so that you can keep a copy of it to look at, since there are effects that create tokens that are a copy of a card anyways.

The laser itself is a line renderer, so could just do a raycast on trigger to display the preview card.
Having a local copy of a certain card is trickier but doable. Will see if I can just add back the huge local card and have it render whatever the laserpointer last looked at or something.

Hello, today at 19:00CET (2h from now) I will host a "YosaVR" dancing session.

"YosaVR" is the combination of "Yosakoi" and VR. Yosakoi is a (modern) japanese folk dance style, which often relies on using accessories.
With "YosaVR", we aim to actively learn dance routines; first we'll learn some actual yosakoi routines, but I'm planning to eventually mix it with other types of dances/songs later on.

Have been cooking this since last weekend, there's still half of the planned features missing (better feedback when playing the moves (last move display, check display, ...), game review navigation, different piece sets, exports to lishogi); but it is now in a state where the game is 100% playable. In theory it shouldn't impact map performances too much since it have 0 update calls and it's only using manual syncing.
Maybe 1 or 2 more weeks until it's fully done, planning to release the prefab as free/open source, so pls consider it for your worlds because vrchat needs more shogi propaganda

It is not possible for 2 reasons.
First I want late joiners to be able to see both the board and the game's history (for game review).
Second reason is that I never synchronize the board itself, but only the moves each player append; so a single int would not work for that. A move is encoded in 2 chars; could in theory do it in 1 char but it would be giga pain; it being a string is just so that I don't need to use dynamic array/lists.

If I was doing only the per-move synchronization yes If I wanted to go stupid about it, could hold 2 moves in an int/char because a move actually needs 2 bytes; but not worth the pain. But I'm synchronizing all the moves each specific player have made since the start of the game (eases up things a lot for handling late joiners and for having a game history). So using ints would mean using int arrays/Lists instead of a string, which I have 0 trust in being optimized through udon networking.

games like boneworks will definitely cause that at the beginning. i recommend playing stuff that has very simple, horizontal movement like vrchat worlds or games with no jumping, verticality, and generally mostly horizontal movement like idk, pavlov. or even half life alyx.

once you get your legs you can enjoy the multitude of incredible vr games and stuff that vrg plays together regularly.
i recommend getting to a point where you can comfortably play forefront. that will test you too, especially helicopters.
oh and a tip from the number 1 bitch boy who's scared of nausea - if you dont want to ever get sick, take off your headset every time you do lots of movement or feel even SLIGHTLY woozy. take it off for 5 seconds, look around, take a step back and forth and then put it back on. i never got sick in vr this way.

It's the one that adds the most optimization for large sprawling areas with line of site to almost everyplace.

You can also use LOD to cull things far from you.

Occlusion Baking is the simplest one to do that is good for use when there are a lot of line of sight hiding little objects inside or around buildings. 0.1, 1 setting

18+ instances are very nice, they keep the screaming children and desktoppers, as well as largely anyone who's going to cause trouble, by virtue of requiring them to have coughed up for VRC+ at some and not being a throwaway account that you don't care if it gets banned. The verification system is more professional and less retarded then having to give a redacted picture of your ID to a random Discord mod in a random server, and also means you don't have the dumbass bouncers sitting at the door who're also a hassle and annoyance.

If you never go to publics and only hang out with /vrg/, there's no point, but if you have other friend circles or just like going to meet random people, the 18+ instances are of substantially higher quality, akin to comparing the Great Pug, PCVR only, to the Black Cat, which is Questie compatible.

I don't mind hanging out in a friday instance that has my friends in it, that I met here, and I'm not too worried about whether the person who hosted it is browses this thread anymore. When the instance is 90%+ people I met through here, it's fine and I'm happy. Most people, aside from a vocal minority, feel the same way.

Imo I think I place the correct amount of importance that /vrg/ anons continue to post and place invites for instances in the thread.

It's a slippery slope of not caring to invite anons (new friends) and each other wherein we will start to drift from each other.
It's a disservice to ignore the place and community we met our friends in.
From my personal perspective it feels like friends have stopped wanting to be with me if they stop chatting with me here.
If I post my instance here and they don't even see it, that feels like a cut in communication
