This really. Kon is a rehash of the original Kon event not to mention we recently just did Gremlin Event which is super similar.
I’m not discounting trying to host these things but hosting costume events are mostly about figuring out what would be valuable and fun for people to use in the future as well.
Most of the easy costume events were done in the start of /vrg/ because barely anyone had appropriate costumes for any occassion so it was easy. (Yukata, bunnysuit, maid, school outfit, swimsuit)

These days costume events need something specific like a sundress event for summer. Something that helps be one of the main stay avatars of anon for future use. The gremlin event and fumo event is a good use case. These are my opinions anyways.

A celebration of anon’s varied groups and activities.
For one day /vrg/ turns into a full blown school festival, with rooms, booths, attractions and little corners of chaos all hosted by the different groups and friend circles around the community.

Come wander the grounds and visit what anons have cooked up.
Games, exhibits, hangouts, performances, themed rooms, comfy spots, weird ideas, good ideas, dumb ideas made real.
The whole point is to let every part of /vrg/ show its face and make something fun for everyone else to enjoy.

If you’ve ever wanted to host, decorate a room, run a booth, make a club attraction, show off your group’s gimmick or just contribute to the general festival atmosphere, this is the event for it.
Big or tiny projects, polished or scuffed projects, they all have a place in a school festival.

This is both a social event and a showcase.
A chance to see what all the different corners of /vrg/ are up to, meet people you don’t normally bump into and enjoy an entire map full of anon-made activities all in one place.

Specially if you are currently or have hosted weekly/monthly/occassional events before and currently!
COME AND SHILL, Grow your club, Entice another anon to try what you love doing!

Kon event was a good idea back then because Kon was the hot new meme gremlin avatar. Revisiting is good for things that hold significant cultural backing or at least other merit.

Imo a costume event can be seen as enticing to make an avatar for and attending for using thse metrics:

It also forces a base rather than a clothing theme doubly makes it hard instead of having an alternate outfit only.
2) the kon with job pulls the theme into two things. Kon base and a Job. This limits people to two constraints thus creating more friction. But Job Konvention is a strong theme. Too strong
3) it’s a stand around and interact event. This put strain on needing good participation count for it to be good Unlike Fumo exploration and Halloween Showcase on Stage with its own gimmick. Gremlin was like that too but see point (6)
4) Fumo had the advantage of being a meme thing for 4chan for ao long specially /jp/ . This made people qant to make and use fumos and again very reuseable see pt (1). Kon’s significance was it was an event in /vrg/ 6 yrs ago using a popular gremlin model of that era. Massive disadvantage
5) novelty. It’s been done before and is an old not fotm base with no novel way of interaction between people
6) this is the biggest cause. We had an event with extremely similar idea quite recently. The Gremlin Event a few months ago is fresh on the memory of people and has fulfilled the slot as the “meme avatar” for vrg recently

I have a taxing 10 hrs a day, 6 days a week job and keep up with the thread and login daily with vrg just fine.
Social life is /vrg/ though so that definitely helps with time allocation

Tried Proton VR last night, played for about an hour. I got precisely what I yearned for: a modern COMPOUND VR and the closet thing we're going to get to a natural made for VR The Citadel. Man, its overwhelmingly rough, it looks, walks and quacks like Compound but its a complete farcry from the simplistic gunplay of COMPOUND from 8 years ago. The biggest glaring issues is the vertical z-levels and the lack of walls. The enemies dont shoot between levels so they'll stare at you from differen level. And the ladders, ugh. I dont think actually physical climbing is good for vr but if you actually enjoy that kind of interactions of BAM or H3 Vr, its great. No sprinting not even as a upgrade and jumping is on left thumbstick when you press it in. Reloading is kind of complete and especially when you need to cock the pistol. No real investment system or chest rigs (you get 2 and 2 more ublockable ones), so if you pick up nades its kinda hard to juggle your other 2 guns. Its a good thing I got to play this demo since im expecting it to be 20$ so im anticipating these issues are going to be a turnoff for most casual players.

Normal people need at least 2-3 hours after work to make dinner and space out for a bit, and that's not even accounting for the fact that some people might have long commutes.
