This is an early preview of a new SDK component we’re working on for avatars. Many of the details about it are still undecided, so everything here is subject to change.

Take it with a pinch of salt!

A popular use case for expressions on avatars is to do things like toggling objects on and off, adjusting blend shapes, and more. Setting up cases like these in an SDK project from scratch requires a fair amount of knowledge of how Unity and its animator system works, which isn’t always intuitive to users that are brand new to creating avatars.

To help make it easier to set up common use cases like this, we’re working towards introducing a new component called the Action Driver. The fundamental idea of it is to let avatar creators bind parameters on their avatar directly to one or more “actions” that they want to trigger, which includes common tasks like turning game objects on and off.

This will not remove custom animator support from avatars! Instead, Action Drivers would be offered as additional functionality, speperate from animators, aiming to make the most common use cases easier to set up for creators that are still new to building avatars.

SEA explo and karaoke have been great! I'd attend PyPy more, but the video player refuses to work with me 90% of the time.

Okay so I tried out Zone of the Enders VR as my first real VR game besides VRC, Bigscreen, and Tetris Effect.
Probably a bad choice as it uses a regular controller instead of the headset ones, but it was cool to have that holographic cockpit view as I played the game, and because I could be plugged in and not notice it, I could see myself playing the entire game in one sitting without changing battery packs. But I do feel like it's a but of a cop out vr wise

DO NOT buy a TP Link data hub. Mine worked for a few months but then started crapping out and dropping signal every 5 minutes. They’re cheap components made for keyboards and mouse, not something as intensive as Vive trackers. I looked into it and the most recommended brands are Anker and Plugable, though for some reason these brands of data hub are in seriously low availability and are often way overpriced compared to RRP (in EU at least). In the end I got a 7 port USB 2.0 plugable hub and it works great, the fact it comes with an external PSU indicates it should be better suited to prolonged use as the TP link one just plugged directly into the board. I would have preferred 3.0 but couldn’t find one at a good price, not sure about interference but so long as the dongles are spaced away from it then it should be fine

Size has to be done manually with something like Thry's VRAM calculator that shows you all the textures on your avatar and what's taking up the most space since that's the only real thing that effects it. d4rk's only works on poi shaders, but will massively reduce your material, mesh, and rendered mesh count; it'll also deal with physbone and bones even not on poi iirc. Beyond that there's a couple of things that'll help with polycount that are non-destructive but do have to be done manually in AOO's packages, but you're not getting below 70k on a modern Booth without some massive surgery so it doesn't really matter

i view flat fps as different from VRfps
i have my own annoyances of hyper mobility movement slop, but VRfps has a clunkyness to it that flat doesnt because you cant adjust 'hit zones' for things like holstering or charging handles, as well as the inherent 'jitter' of controller tracking despite steady hands
its fun and enjoyable, but its a completely different thing for me since i play at 5cm/360 and NOBODY can do something similar in VR

that said i completely understand and agree with the depth perception and lifelike scale comment
and i do with more games had support for VR displays for extra depth if not for VR experiences
half of the problem of modern FPS games is everything has TOO good graphics you cant see enemies and having proper depth perception would mostly fix this issue

Nah. I just finished one of my yearly ritual map painting campaigns in EU3 MEIOU and just can't ever see those translating over to VR very well, esp Paradox's last-gen gems like EU3 and VIC2. I still play CS2 and TF2 time to time. I do miss playing contractors and pavlove but I've accepted I just can't ever make it to the latter's lobbies anymore, but hoping I can make it to the one tomorrow.
