I've been doing some calculations, and if you want 3 meters * 3 meters of space, you should get a vive, because there is no way the rift sensors can track both the floor and above 1.7 meters at that range.

One of the current issues is the lenses that we use in these headsets. Your FoV is already small to the point where your periphery is blocked, and anything beyond about 30 degrees from center gets warped or blurred terribly (in the vive you can see the rings in the lense) so it's kind of pointless to move your eyes away from center.

Since there isn't much you can do to stop retards from throwing 5+ mesh and material avatars with loadsa dynamic bones into the game and the game itself isn't optimized, the best you can do is give your computer an easier time by running the bare minimum of programs. My biggest complaint with a lot of effects like that is that they are hard on the eyes when you are using a VR headset.
The very bright stuff or the very trippy stuff that overtakes your full range of vision are very hard for me to deal with. I have to close my eyes when hit with a lot of that stuff.

For years, my friends and I default to hopping on voip whenever we're at home. We live all over the world but we always have our little voice chat server that we're connected to whenever we aren't doing anything else, so we can always hang out and shoot the shit and discuss whatever.

I realize the erp thing is pretty popular here, but do any of you feel that vr chat is like what I described? Is logging in and just hanging out with your buddies there a part of your daily routine? Can you do things together while you're there, like watching movies or playing cards or whatever?

I thought a decent bit about some of the correlations that appear to exist between VRChat experiences and Tulpa stories.
One element is being able to feel something 'mentally'. In VRChat people talk about something like not being able to somehow feel when someone is near or touching them without having any of the real physical feeling that comes with, this is very similar to what has been said about interacting with or touching a tulpa. Also to a lesser extent tulpas or other VRChat users tend to give a feeling of 'taking up space' even though they really don't, leading the person to make extra space for them naturally and to move in sync with them as well as possible.
There's other aspects I've been thinking about, like mutes and how you start to get an almost eerie feeling of what they're saying. Or the 'illusion' of what someone's avatar creates becoming something different than what they really are, like getting feelings for a tulpa that is just an expansion of one's mind.

I feel like in a way, if someone wanted to get deeper into the tulpa thing, VR could be a good therapy for that.

Everything looks fine including the preview, but when I see it in game, the main model's textures are overwritten by the small one's materials? I'm going to assume that the additional model overrides your textures in the mirror. If you look at your model normally it should be fine, and other players will not see the strange textures, mirror or not. This happens when the additional model is visible by default. Its a minor inconvenience and doesn't actually cause problems if you know that your main models textures are already fine.
As you can see in this picture, the sword overrides my textures in the mirror but looking down at myself I'm normal.
In short, your model looks fine for everyone, mirrors suck.

After you import the fbx to Unity and change it to humanoid, try opening up configuration and manually assigning the bones the the hands. That might be your problem.
