I've got a 970M laptop that I'm sure can handle light VRchat instances in VR, and I'm considering grabbing a Samsung HMD, but the laptop does not have Optimus-free video out (HDMI and DP both go through the Intel crap). I'm concerned that I'll simply be wasting 400$ on a non-functional setup.

Are there any good rhythm games for VR currently other than McOsu VR and Beat Saber whenever it comes out?

Nobody is actively rude but people don't really reach out to them either. New people typically have to be the ones to reach out, but this is true for both vr and desktoppers.

if you want to make just a simple chill map, not too difficult, even easier if you just import an MMD stage.

it's just a matter of learning how to do all that that may make you bang your head against a wall.

and from there if you want to pull all the stops and include bells and whistles, you need to delve a little deeper and thats a bit more difficult.
