Dance night should be fine with regular IK avatars as long as everyone who just wants to lay around and chat goes to another instance. The actual /dance crew/ seems like it's maybe 20 people at most.

Do remove your dynamic bones though, that definitely helps. If your avatar has long hair that you don't want sticking straight out when you look down or sideways, reparent the lower parts of your hair bones to your neck in blender. It's easy and it still looks pretty tolerable by vrchat standards.

Optimization aside, creating a dance-only instance for the event is the best thing we could do. Everyone not dancing could still hang out in another instance and join back in when they feel like dancing again.

It'd be nice if there was some way to make persistent portals between friends+ instances, so we could split the meetups like this without it being so clunky to rejoin on someone in another map. Even during regular meets, It's not like everyone even talks to all 30 other people at the same time anyway. We just sort of circle up and try not to stare in the direction of the other group, to save our framerates.

So for those saying that turning light probes off does nothing for FPS performance and has been confirmed numerous times or whatever on people on the beta branch and developers and etc. - Are any of these people actually testing with 40 people in an instance like we did? I'm going to guess not.

I couldn't remember whether or not we tested just light probes during the optimization test, but looking back at my Unity Project with all the avatars I made for the pedestals, I've got two versions of the same avatar, one with blend probes and all that stuff turned on, and one with all of them turned off, so we had to have tested it, and we had to have noticed a difference because I remember at least one person remarking that now they're going to have to yell at people to turn those settings off after we tested it and gained FPS with it off.

So we can always test it again, but I'm pretty sure we did test it, and turning off light probes increased our FPS by a decent amount. You can say it makes no sense because we were on a map that didnt even have any lights aside from the ambient light so how could these light probes be decreasing our fps but this is VRChat after all, so it wouldn't surprise me if it did lower our frames despite not making any logical sense as to why it should.

Light probes store baking information for the material. Literally what you're doing is making the lighting become essentially dynamic again, even if lighting is baked in the map.

Hey guys! I've been following tupper's megatutorial to try and get my first ever VRchat model downloaded. However, at approximately one hour and five minutes into his tutorial when he imports the model to unity a "materials" folder is created with a texture map, allowing him to click on it and change from transparent to opaque to get the model to look right. For me when I drag the model in no new folder is created and my texture atlas seems to be "stuck" to my model like picrelated and all the options are greyed out. Any idea how to fix this?

-supports cloth component
-Apart from the dynamic bones mod, it also contains 2 optimization modes to help in big meetups like the following dance meetup.

Normal mode (press O po activate):
Disables dynamic bones, cloth, particles, dynamic lights, avatar audio sources and sets the proper optimization settings in the skinned mesh renderers

Extreme mode (press left SHIFT + O to activate): all the normal mode + disables mirrors, changes all lights to Vertex illumination mode and forces the main camera to render in VertexLit mode

What's the easiest way to make a prop appear on a shapekey? I used to be able to do it all the time but now my shapekeys are messing up.

I used to be able to: create the prop as a separate mesh with no shape keys, then add a Basis and "Prop" shapekey that resized the prop accordingly (Basis scaled down the prop into the body of the mesh, "Prop" scaled up the prop into the proper place), and then join the mesh to the Body mesh. But now when I do that, the "Prop" shapekey shows on every other shapekey (blinking, visemes, etc).

I already know I can blend from basis for each key individually but that's tedious..

I looked into it before I started and I'd have to put way too much effort into upak for avatars and worlds. after that I'd have to lock down the blueprint system to prevent avatar logic/code. I also couldn't quite get the avatar retargeting to work skeleton to my second test skeleton, so I was thinking it might end up forcing a comon skeleton to rig too. plus I'm not 100% sure the networking side of blueprints would still work. If I can't use the internal networking a rewrite would waste most of my dev time
On the other hand a newer unity version runs way damn faster and can multi-thread quite a few things now (performance testing already looks good testing instances with 100s of bot players) you guys already know how to use it
