What the fuck. The format was designed EXPLICITLY for use in full body tracking situations for VR. It's not just glTF meshes and shaders, it uses those because they're well optimized and an open standard.
There's a lot of code besides - the PHYSICS are entirely home grown and design to work outside of Unity, and not RAPE YOUR CPU. They look nicer than dynamicbone and you can have literally hundreds of joints without slowing down your system, even in unity 5.6. There's physics settings designed specifically for cloth. It reduces draw calls massively through bundling. It sets up the avatar for vive tracking properly and uses t poses instead of mmd bind pose that match xbot and ybot better, which is what VRchat's entire avatar system was based on originally.

Animation component constantly looping a (legacy, you make your animation normally then change it in debug menu on the animation) toggle on/off of empty game objects with different sounds. Animation you want to make sound activates all the sound scripts.
All sound scripts and game objects disabled by default. The legacy animation on the animator component can be as long as you want time wise, just remember in unity it's frames and then seconds, when you make normal animations they're 1 frame long. You probably want a few seconds or more per toggle depending on sound clip length. May occasionally cut one short and start the next though.

There's pros and cons to both. Even as a Vive person myself, I'll admit that the Rift is better in regards to controllers and obviously price. The difference in quality is practically nonexistent, but getting full body tracking with the Rift seems to be a pain in the ass, even with integration of Vive pucks

If you 100% know you will get full body tracking, vive is the cheaper option and probably more stable/less buggy.
If you don't care for full body tracking, Rift is probably better and cheaper.
Commonly listed advantages to the Rift are better and more durable controllers and a more comfortable headset. Vive is getting controllers that may or may not be better than the Rift ones some time in the future, but that'll cost you even more extra and we don't know when they're coming out.
If you're planning to use a very large playspace, you'll likely need a Vive.

+ Basestations have wider range and FOV out of the box than rift sensors (4x4m+ playspace)

I'm also on rift+trackers, but i think the upsides of rift, namely the controllers, are still worth the extra hassle of having to do playspace registration/calibration between the rift and pucks. I tossed this animation together a while back before I had fullbody. The viewpoint should be centered over the head, but it has an issue where your viewpoint is far above your face because lolanimeproportions which means the mmd's feet are lower than yours and your head literally can't go past where your avatar's knees are. FBT is purely a VRChat meme so that you can move your avatar's hips and legs more accurate. no other VR game uses it. You can sit and lay down in VRChat even without it, but you'll just fold into a slav squat or tactical crawl in game instead. FBT is good for dancing in VRC but even then some make do with the IK shuffle.

So after playing the COMPOUND demo for about an hour I went ahead and bought the full game.
I turned up the difficulty and played through all the levels in one run (Lacking an end the game simply loops you back to the start for something resembling a NG+) and I have to say while i'm terribly impressed with the sound design I think the level generator needs a little more work and there needs to be more enemy variance.
More difficulty would be nice too, it starts cranking it up when you hit the offices with shotgun enemies then labs with suicide drones but it still doesn't go nearly hard enough for my liking.

Heads up for any Linux anons out there. VRChat documentation doesn't mention it but there's actually a Unity build for Linux that seems to works just fine with the VRChat SDK. I haven't experimented with it too much yet but at least uploading avatars works.

The version string is 5.6.3fx1linux so VRChat SDK complians about wrong Unity version it but it's just a warning. The difference to the recommended 5.6.3p1 is that it's [f]inal e[x]perimental linux build and the recommended version is [p]atched because there was a remote code exploit on Windows for it. They released a patched version for mac too just to keep the version strings in sync even though macs didn't have any exploits.

It's a relief that I can dedicate the VR box just for that and just run Blender and Unity on my main shitposting machine.

I genuinely can't keep up with all the relationships in /vrg/. They seem to be crossing over/ changing by the week.

...Sometimes when I'm feeling down I hop on VR Chat and go to the Halo: Reach Forge world. There's a spot above Blood Gulch that you can walk up to and press a button to play sad looping Reach music. It almost looks over half the map even if it looks like ass in VR, or with my setup at least. But I just sit there and remember all the people I used to know and talk to. Reflect how much has changed since then. The circles I used to be a part of, the ones I'm in now, etc.

Our cutest local magician. One of the very first in /vrg/ to have experimented heavily with shader tricks, gestures and particle effects for the express purpose of making and simulating magical tricks. Personal favorite of mine is your pull kanna from the hat trick. It's simple but it is also this simplicity that is very iconic of magicinas pulling rabbits out of hats.
Sadly was recently infected with kemono fever but has recently got out of it as well. Hoping to see more magical tricks from you cute magician girl. Maybe one of those cutting a box in half tricks? Go autsit mode on your magical abilities. I feel like you are happiest doing those as I am sure people watching your tricks are made happy as well.

Hello, June here, or as most of you know me, the creator of Lavender.

I'd like to keep this brief since I'm very busy. Oculus just offered me $25.000 and a team of 6-man team to help me with Lavender in exchange for making the game exclusive to Rift(the game will still be free).

I'm deeply sorry for VIVE/WMR users but this will help Lavender speed up a ton, as well as helping me with my own living expenses.
