You can put the flashlight in the slot on either side of your head. I think if you turn it around with one of the directional controls so it's the downward facing grip, then it will face forwards when you put it in the slot. You can't use a pump action one handed beyond a single shot, but the level actions can be spin cocked.

For unity nerds, a quick webm on how to get the VR player working. tl;dw open Edit -> Project Settings -> Player, drag either Oculus or OpenVR above "None", then whenever you hit play, you can look around with your headset. You can then proceed to mess with material settings/lighting/post processing settings while playing, while squinting at the unity interface through the nose hole, or using ovrdrop/oculus dash.

It works fine if you just position the camera where you want to stand, especially for avatar work, but if you want to fly around a world, you have to add a Gameobject wrapping your main camera and add a keyboard control script to it. Here's a basic one I use from some random github gist, with the mouselook commented out. WASD to move, Ctrl/Space for down/up.

This is for all of you who had limited yourself from talking too much to people out of fear that you'd be annoying or bothering them. This is also now a place to make new friends in! You can participate even if all you want is for people to talk more with you. If you have too much talking already going on in your life then you probably don't want to join.

In this experiment, participants will join a chatless Discord server, and will see the other participants involved. Participants will then be aware that they are allowed to talk with any of the other participants freely, without holding back. In other words, by joining this Discord server, you are telling everyone that you wouldn't mind being messaged, even to the point that it may seem annoying, and also that you yourself may be someone who will do the same to others!

Since it doesn't have a chat, the Discord server essentially just acts as a list, which you can use to tell who you can DM and talk to whenever you want.

However, due to new feedback, we are now aware that this server may also act as a place for people to make new friends and have new conversations with. Some also seem to have not gotten any conversation. To remedy that, a Discord role, or label you can get, has been added. DM the experimenter to change your role, and allow for 24 hours before you see a change.

One other protip is to use https://github.com/AlexanderVorobyov/simple-light-probe-placer . Much easier than dragging them out by hand. Read through https://vrcat.club/threads/xiexes-lighting-tutorial-how-to-get-good-at-baked-lighting-101.2081/ if you haven't recently.

Oh and another protip, if you make custom props in blender or import weird MMD fbxs, make sure they have UVMaps if you want them to shade and cast shadows correctly in baked lighting. I accidentally forgot to unwrap some stuff, and it just comes out blank in the lightmap. If it's something simple, the "Lightmap project" in blender is fast and correct enough.

There aren't actually any vive exclusive games. Vive is effectively half a generation behind and the same spec it was in 2016, while Oculus updated their headset when it was clear hand controllers were the way forward.

Two years ago when these things were new Oculus didn't do roomscale out of the box. They were still going for a seated experience. Also they had just been bought out by facebook and everyone hated them immensely. They finally got on board with roomscale and dropped the price immensely so the value proposition is much better.

Recent software has eliminated that. It was actually due to the puck returning to the 'true' position, or even a mirrored playspace due to using the wrong reference lighthouse, before the overridden position after tracking loss because it was running through two pieces of software. The standalone software puts it in the overridden place immediately. As far as I can see it works the same as vive now where you'll just stretch if you lose tracking. The controllers don't directly interfere unless they're 1.0 trackers; the calibration method actually necessitates putting a puck directly on the left controller then moving then together.

I have the Asus Z87-K mobo and in the bios i have a thing called xHCI under USB, and when it is enabled or on auto i will get random disconnects from all the 3,0 ports and hence the rift and sensors disconnect, so i disabled it, and all is well, and even though Oculus states you are using USB 2.0 i have now degridation of my VR experience at all.
