There's significant post volume here that keeps the general sustained, the community is large which is conducive to playing multiplayer VR, there are many anons here who post regular VR content. We have anons who do news roundups, post streamables, write VR game reviews, and host multiplayer VR games. This all occurrs in significant enough volume that it makes way more sense to try and improve things here than through it all away and give up. If things get split many of that will be lossed in the process.

As to a split - I'm going to go on the record and say I'm strongly opposed to it.
I don't think there's yet enough non-vrchat discussion to sustain a thread without it. I also think that there's a great deal of overlap between vrchat and other vr games - almost all of our pavlov and onward players are also vrchat people. It doesn't make a lot of sense for us to split when it's just going to be the same people.

We'd also need to clean house a bit if we were to go to a vrchat thread, we'd need to get rid of some shitposters first to keep the new vrchat thread safe from getting a ban.

So I think it's a bit early for that - once some of our shitposters are gone and once there are more vr games, I think a split may be good. But not right now.

These threads are so cancerous, my theory is that Yuru works for VRChat and he's trying to keep all 4chan players in one world and on his friends list to monitor potential problem avatars, 4chan being a huge source of those. Its part of marketing and making a "comfortable game" for stakeholders to stay interested in VR and VRChat

Much of that content is stuff that should be reported. When someone is sperging out and spamming the thread with their bullshit, that needs to be reported.

Shitposts can't be helped, /vg/ itself is a containment board. Generals are cancer, ALWAYS.
There are two points that are important for consideration here:
1) There is not enough non-vrchat content to sustain a thread. This will change in the future but there are currently not enough quality vr games for this.
2) Separating out the vrchat thread makes it an easy target for shitposters to get it banned from the thread.

These two points together lead to an absolute bad end - no place on /vg/ to discuss VR and no place to discuss vrchat. It's not time for a split yet, be patient and it will be that time in the next couple of years. We need more quality VR games.

Hey, to those of you who complain about screenshots and vrchat posting, what do you actually contribute to the thread? I'm not saying you don't contribute, I'm just wondering. If I'm alone at home sometimes I'll mutter these thoughts out loud rather than bothering to stay quiet since there's nobody around who would care, but in public I keep my thoughts to myself.

In general though, scaling with shapekeys is tricky, I haven't found good ways to make the changes "apply through" all the other shapekeys.. It might be better to instead scale the body larger with the armature, then scale the entire model down (in object mode, then object -> apply transform -> scsale).

It's not a perfect workaround, but the oculus tray tool thing has an option to minimize oculus home on start, and minimize it to tray. It's still there, lurking and taking up memory, but at least it's not as visible.

What was that anyway? I tried doing the administrator trick in the past but it didn't seem to do anything. I never got what the problem was either, I didn't notice Oculus home taking up much resources when another app was opened. It took up some memory but I have enough to spare, and it didn't do anything with the CPU either. If you want it to take up less memory then get OculusHomeless.

If it was talking about the Oculus service task, I didn't notice a difference there either, and I don't see how it's possible to run without it since it doubles as the runtime. SteamVR doesn't replace the runtime, it simply translates functions over to the Oculus runtime, which means that you do need to have two runtimes running at the same time. The only way to run SteamVR games without SteamVR is to use a hack called OpenComposite which is basically like the Revive equivalent.

Hmm I can't remember it being a hog on resources, and I don't remember noticing that it could be disabled from launching by using the administrator trick. Minimizing to the tray at this point is probably enough. Having the client minimized (while it is open to the default page), drops the CPU usage to exactly 0% whereas maximized it takes up like 0.1% doing the "ad serving" which really is just it flipping between images of the recommended apps on their store at the time. CPU usage goes up with each image flip and goes down when not flipping images. CPU usage also goes up when you are moving your mouse on the window. So nothing abnormal with any of this and getting tray tool should solve any annoyances.

The cheapest VR you'd want to consider is the WMR headsets, which go on sale a little under $200 US sometimes, with controllers. I think the sweet spot right now is the zucculus rift though, which sometimes goes on sale for $350, probably lower for black friday-type stuff.

The absolute cheapest "VR" is a smartphone, google cardboard, and some wii controllers, but that's a lot of effort.
