I'm going to start systematically exploring, with anons who cares to join, any VR metaverse that currently exists. This is something I've been doing off and on for years but, didn't think there may be others interested in being Cybernauts as well until recently.

This will be done twice a week, with each week focusing on a different program. The first exploration party will be this Wednesday at 7PM CDT, and there will be a follow up Sunday time still TBD.

First verse to be explored will be NeosVR. The instructions for how to join will be posted the day of and will likely just be us all joining in the same world. If you're interested I'd suggest going ahead and installing the program as well as practicing with the controls since they have a bit of a learning curve. You don't have to make an account to fuck around with it but not every features will be accessible.

I have the magnet one and that's why I was asking. I do like the steadiness and the feeling of actually holding something, like I can't really make myself believe the hands in game are my actual hands and draw the gun up and quickly lining up the sights with my eye, so the stock helps with that a lot. Only problem is it just feels cumbersome to speed reload and to use your sidearm/grenades.

Its REALLY fun to use it with the p90, but its a bitch to reload with the mag being on top

As someone who's more often than not a RNG liability to their team all I can suggest is try and use flashes more, soundwhore, prefire, etc. Same advice you would use from desktop fps games can be applied here somewhat. It had really cool mechanics of changing perspective so you can solve the puzzles.

ARK VR is awful because it's a lazy port. Specifically, as you may know, ARK is all about riding dinosaurs, but they didn't do anything about the dinosaur head bob in VR, so it's just a good way to get motion sickness.
It's also played with just a controller and your VR controllers will not work and there is no IK.

It's not well thought out and there is not a lot of effort put into it. Kinda neat to look at your base in VR but that's it.

the items that you see people enabling and disabling are actually already on the avatar at all times, just invisible. for holstered weapons, some users toggle the weapon model on their hand to visiboe and toggle the holstered weapon invisible.
you have to do animation overrides to toggle them and control them with the gestures of your fingers
i don't have a link on a guide to it atm but it's been done to death here.

whatever you do do not pay anyone outside of vrg to do it for you. if you are really a brainlet at it ask someone here to do it for you.

I don't have first-hand experience, but if your IPD falls within the range of the samsung, I've heard the screen is great, and everything else is comparable to other WMR systems, i.e. controller tracking is slightly subpar, but definitely still good enough for most games.

Probably the most you'd lose out on is aftermarket hardware stuff, like VRCover, the custom lens inserts if you wear glasses, gun stocks for shooty games, etc.

The Odyssey has IPD adjustment, so he'd be fine there. The Rift has better controllers though, not just better tracking.
