And so we've finished with our dive into Sansar. I left feeling a slight tinge of VR sickness and my eyes have still not adjusted to real life frame rate. Evidently there is a small community in Sansar, many of whom claim to use primarily VR. However, in our time there we saw only desktoppers that were mostly talking on discord, which to me is telling.
The other anon will try to post some streamables at some point but I don't think anyone would ever miss anything by not visiting. Some of the worlds are pretty in their realistic style but everything VR is slightly scuffed. Unless there is a major overhaul in the future this has no hope.

We will continue on next Wednesday 7PM CDT in a new metaverse, most likely JanusVR.

Yes, but the back legs will either not move at all when the player steps around their playspace or they will mirror the front legs movements via a fixed joint, which is not how a horse walks. Back and front legs move very differently.

I have a few times, its not a fun experience, nor is shitting on new players. I've had this in every single competitive game I've ever played, I get to this point where I'm in between the average and above average player and I can't push myself through the powergap. If it's the same anon, they posted a couple months ago about their setup last time I asked about it. They boot the VM straight into steamvr, no separate passthrough monitor needed. I wish I had the autism to finally try setting it up myself, but dealing with 3-sensor zucculus + cuckpucks spread across two usb controllers feels like it's going to be even more of a pain.

So, sansar is another "social metaverse VR" thing, this time developed by actual linden labs I believe. As such, they've apparently put a bunch of effort into making some jew "sansar dollars" scheme and shit for a really subpar.. thing, in which you can watch yourself walk around in ugly avatars. On the bright side, the worlds and scenery are are actually well done. We started out in the spook map. Lots of dynamic lights, soft shadows, all running at 90fps.

But the VR, it's real rough. You can tell it's a bolt-on to some second life-like engine, if only by the fact it has a third person camera, and it's the _only_ way to see your avatar in the headset. There's no first-person hands or body. There's a chat system, but no in-VR keyboard, so you have to type on your actual keyboard.

We got to the top, but it was pretty much as you expect. A teleport jump puzzle with moveable props. Yup. There was also a 2077-themed map, but literally nothing of note happened. Pretty, but empty.

Overall, it was a good experience in a way. Despite all its problems, vrchat is a just so far ahead of these other programs as far as a platform for hanging out in VR. There's no jew economy or shop. You can have friends+ instances, invite people, make your own maps and avatars. Environments are simple, avatars are friendly anime instead of dark grimy PBR shaded humans. Tupper can't fix everything, but, well, at least he fixed some things.

We'll be exploring janusVR next wednesday night probably, if you want to join in the merry adventures.

I'm the shitposter from >>231521807 and I also had the setup working for VR with a Vive with a 2700x and Vega 64 with a RX 560 for the host under previously Void and then SUSE, then Debian however, I gave up on it because AMD/ATI makes GRAND hardware and their latest GPUs still have the hardware reset bug after many years of it being known. Reportedly SOME gpus do not have it but the vast majority do i.e. mine. What this means is that basically if windows 10 reboots (because of a uguu super kawaii udate desu) or shuts down
your you GPU is left in a state where it has absolutely no driver interfacing with it but is left in an "active" state because windows just cuts off the hardware rather than shutting it down properly which normally doesn't matter because the power of the system gets killed, but not in the case of the VM. Linux guests don't have this problem but Windows 10 is less prone to problems with VR stuff as unfortunately Steamvr and Vive is still lacking quite a few features from the baseline driver stack. So I have actually switched to a thinkpad for my general use until I can confirm that either qemu or KVM has come up with a workarround for the reset bug or the time to upgrade comes and I get an Nvidia gpu for the guest.

So I'm considering getting a Vive this Black Friday but the problem is I wear glasses, is it possible to use a Vive while wearing glasses?

forgot to detail exactly what happens when the GPU is left in an "active" state, but basically you cannot use it until you reboot the host, and eventually the GPU panics and puts the fans on max if you don't reboot the host after 10minutes to an hour. It was a pretty long match that lasted like 15 minutes and I was contorted every direction, but eventually the fact that I slept only 4 hours caught up to me and my boomer body collapsed. It was fun though.

Hope to see more people in JanusVR next week I feel like it's the other big metaverse of note after Neos and VRchat. Its very unique in its approach and the odd ball out compared to those other two. It is very much the concept of the web translated into a 3d vr form. It was incredible when it came out back in dk1 days and was the first taste for many what these sort of programs could offer. It has since been all but abandoned after the last hail Mary of going fully open source.

I think there's something wrong with the "play on wake" and VRC. Try putting the Video Player component on a game object that's disabled by default and adding a VRC_Trigger button to enable the gameobject. Or maybe an OnNetworkReady trigger to enable it.
