I did it in 20 minutes on launch day with one of my more optimized customs.
Noe's shader and most others will default to unity's built in "toon" shader (which still looks ok) since it's registered as toon and supports fallback. Otherwise use diffused with slight emission, like 6%.
You also have vroid studio. You can make something in there for the head real fast and toss your body on it with some low poly.
Or just download something low poly from booth that you don't hate and stick it on the same ID as your main avatar.
or git gud and learn how to mesh modifier material project onto shrink wrapped icospheres and cylinders and transfer weights.

The cord on your headset isn't even that long, it would work just fine.
unless you find a way to stick your computer in the middle of a room, you can't get very far anyway, so it would have to work in that context. They're using regular vives in the video, think about it.

I've modded it pretty insanely and 40 hours into a playthrough.
the absolute must have is the directional sound mod because the default audio is not HRTF and it sucks.
"Sounds of skyrim" complete pairs with this nice

I suggest using USSP FOR SURE, performance fixes a lot and makes the game much better on vr.
Lite version of static meshes improvement mod unless you have a beast pc.

personally I like "realistic waters 2" as well.
RS children overhaul is nice, and so is more realistic dragons. There's a mod that gives you a belt pack for items but I find it annoying, and then there's dragonborn naturally speaking if you want to not have shouts on your grip button and actually shout them.

you should also get skyrimvrconfigtool.

WICO mod is nice too because npcs look terrifying and ps3 era otherwise.

If your model comes with separate eye socket and irises it's pretty easy in Blender. Just add bones for each iris, create a vertex group with the same name as the bone and add the irises to the vertex group of each eye. Irises will rotate around the center of the bone so be mindful of the bone position. Then run cats plugin eye thing and your set.

If there's no eye sockets with irises and just a flat textured surface it's gonna take more effort.

Cheap way to do it without bones is to use proportional edit to make them concave. Gives the illusion of the eyes following whoever is looking at you. Pic related.

It probably doesn't help that's for sure. The Quest is definitely heavier though and less comfortable, and it does depend on your head shape. One way to make Quest and pretty much almost any other headset much comfier is to add a counterweight on the back of the strap, and add layers of foam or whatever padding to all the straps to distribute weight better as well as provide more stability to counteract the higher moment of inertia.
