We should rename the general to /VRZ/, for Virtual Reality Zone, for several reasons.
1. Virtual Reality encompasses more than just a single game, or even genre of games; VR houses all sorts of unique experiences with different levels of interactivity and they all belong here.
2. There are people who associate with the acronym "vrg" who do not want to be associated with the thread.
3. There are people who associate with the thread who do not want to be associated with the people who associate with "vrg"
4. People on other boards see /vrg/ as a festering cancer due to warring between these two factions, and people who just want to use the thread are caught in the crossfire.
5. Having a "g" in your general name is totally redundant and not as cool.
I'm not suggesting we do anything other than change the name. I believe a simple name change would be enough for things to sort themselves out over time

so they revealed that it has removable headphones directly lifted from the DAS, that is has internal cooling for comfort and a vented design.
if you pause it just right you can see the lenses through the glass which they are very careful not to show, but they seem kinda big.
It uses OPLink but the connector is at the END so there's going to be a breakout box that will likely have Virtulink.
they added TWO MORE front angled up and down front cameras in the bottom and top middle, for unknown reasons. The lenses at least come off with the faceplate.

I don't think so, I think they waited to see how well rift S tracked then they swapped it and added two more cameras - it looks like gen 1 was competing with WMR, then rift S came out and they had to one up them.
that's 100% the default faceplate now, htc confirmed it in the livestream.
The angles on the two front top and bottom cameras will cover everything.
the side cameras are angled slightly back, so they'll cover a fuckload as well. Literally the only place it won't be able to track is if the controller's light ring is completely occluded by your head.
you can easily measure this by just looking at the headphones, which we know the exact size of, and looking at the camera intrinsics from the vive pro which is >180 degree fisheye from each camera.
Trying to get a better angle of the lenses now, maybe I can see how large the lenses are with a little trigonometry.

it's fully cut out at the top. The part that rests on your forehead comes much lower than the rift S or any WMR headset and the foam is only on the sides of your face.
Your eyes get VERY close to the lenses when it's closed.
an the lenses do seem pretty big. About as big as the vive pro lenses anyway, at least, but you seem to get a LOT closer to them due to the fact that there's no forhead foam up top.

I switched between the video and Blender with a model I'm working on.
This tutorial felt like the easiest to follow because of the descriptive reasons behind every step despite missing an important detail, which is appended in the description section and top comment.

Surprisingly easy.
I was able to get a workflow going after the second successful atlas.
The first one I was able to pinpoint the mistake in the process and save the project.

At college, people are focused on their classes, but between classes if you listen in on conversations, it's still high school mentality. My experience of VRChat was being like a transfer student joining a high school during your senior year. You're an outsider, nobody really knows you, nobody wants to associate with you because you're an unknown. I socialize at work, and sometimes go out for drinks with my co-workers, and that's about it. I use VRChat to test my models and world hop around to see what other people have created, ignoring all TDA thots and shader skiddies or clone stamp booths. I unironically find the most creativity in the nanachis who will try to create a custom OC based on a the theme of another character and manage to pull it off rather well.

I've managed to set up a small test server for this "Roguelike Adventures And Dungeons" 1.12.2 minecraft/vivecraft modpack a few of us have been testing lately. Like the name says, it's got a bunch of new generated dungeons and mobs and loot, plus a more rpg-like leveling system. There aren't any factory automation mods or nuclear reactor mods in this one.

To play, download http://multimc.org/ if you don't have it already, click Add Instance in the top left, select "Import from zip", and paste in

should look like pic related. It'll download 250MB of autism and set it up for you. Then you can launch the instance (it'll prompt you to log into your minecraft account), and then the server details should be prefilled in the multiplayer tab.

For cracked users, use MultiMC client in the /mcg/ OP, follow the same process to import the pack. However, once you launch the game, you have to launch it at least once in "online" mode (the regular launch button), wait for it to boot, then close it and only use the "launch offline" button, so you can select a name besides "Player".

The modpack also includes the mumblelink positional audio plugin, which I highly recommend installing even if you're mute. To enable it, install the mumble desktop client, then make sure the settings in pic related are turned on, as well as the "minimum volume" set to 0 for falloff (it's 80% by default). Then join the vrgcraft server at voice.vrgcraft.space ,password is veearegee and join the roguelike-test channel. Once you launch minecraft and join the server, you should see "Minecraft linked" in the mumble chat, and people's voices should be attenuated according to in-game position if they're also in the server.

How does one estimate understanding or expertise in a game (from a development perspective)?

I'm not a developer myself, so this might sound incredibly dumb to people who are, but this is how I imagine it to be:

Always having been big on modding myself, I am very partial to modders. Even so, I suspect that a modder's understanding is usually limited to a very narrow area that they happen to be passionate about - which is understandable, given that they are at an information disadvantage in closed source projects.
Passion, by the way, or rather the infinite time to pursue pet feautures that comes from it, is one of the things that differentiates the modder from the professional developer. The pro is expected to do certain things for the pipeline, many of which are low profile, and what he does, he'll gain understanding in. He can't spend 20 hours on an HD bridge texture because time is money, money is controlled by controlling, and controllng would call you insane for spending 20*(hourly dev wage) on an unimportant detail. The modder, too, is limited by time, but here time isn't money, time is freetime, and freetime is controlled by what you care for. The modder cares for his pet projects, so he'll gain a lot of understanding in those, even moreso than the pro, unless the pro does a lot in that area, too.

Now, the audio bug was a serious bug and should've been a high priority to fix and because of that quickly fixed, yet it wasn't. But cross-avatar collision for dynamic bones? Probably far down the priority list, the pros not implementing it while the modders could does not necessarily speak against the capabilities of the pros. In fact, rushing features is how I imagine spaghetti code coming to be. The modder doesn't give a fuck about the spaghetti, because he's mostly interested in his pet project while the pro will try to make the entire complex system work and not break down.

TL;DR: Pro/modder different resources & priorities, skill hard-judged.
