I tried some Pavlov for a while and surprisingly it just made me exhausted, not ill. Then I went to VRChat briefly, and the comfort turning is too sudden, but without it you turn too fast. That's when I started getting ill again surprisingly.

For the Anon who wanted to know, EFS is a 4X strategy game from the late nineties with a strong flavor of Dune, Foundation, and WH40K. You've got the Church banning technology from Holy Terra, the Trade League buying and selling resources (which are all physical cargo pods on the map produced in mines, farms, wells, and factories), no shallow "Invade Planet" button. If you want to take a world, you'll have to land your armies and command them on civ scale maps for each of the 24-30ish planets. Most have been taken over by rebels from the collapse of the last empire a few hundred years ago.

I ended up taking those forces across many battles conquering planets, playing it safe to keep them alive until they reached veteran experience. Hmm, minecraft itself requires java and should install it when you use the official launcher, but not multiMC I guess. The regular installer at https://www.java.com/en/download/ is fine, make sure to get the x64 version. Then multiMC should detect java being installed.

Just search the game's name and 'download'. You can get it on some abandonware site. Then you can play it vanilla, Hyperion mod, Reality mod, or Reality + Emperor Wars. The base game is a bit imbalanced, artillery is a unit you can build anywhere, for almost no cost, while doing a good amount of damage. The real issue is that Artillery attacks with "Indirect" which is one of the first combat phase. So you can build stacks of cheap artillery and blow of high tech grav tanks before they can shoot back. Conveniently, all the unit stats are in an easy to edit text file called UNITS.DAT. Hyperion is more of a total conversion, whereas EmpWars starts you in a more middle/early-lategame stage while adding a bunch of lore compliant units and ones that were left out from release.

What to autism from this:
AK12 *is* better than the M4 on the synti config, almost objectively- but by a tiny amount. The difference of 20ms would be such a tiny reaction gap that it really doesn't matter all that much, and both will likely kill someone with a double headshot before they can really react, due to ping+human reaction time. Drop free mags/bolt lock back plus more forgiving recoil versus 20ms faster kill
Reaffirms that the regular AK has a stiff punishment for not headshotting

Tried Minecraft for the first time, and decided to give it a go in VR (Vivecraft). Started a solo offline run, as suggested in the VGCraft guide. Game is interesting, and surprisingly spooky in some cases. I enjoyed building a small loft base overseeing a small mountain corner. Best part was the exploration of some underground/hidden environments, though I wish I was better equipped to face the enemies within them. There was some sort of enemy generator near a few chests of loot, and I wasn't sure what to do about it at the time. I wonder if I could have just beat the shit out of it to make it go away, though I didn't have much for equipment to do so anyway.

My biggest gripe is with the some of the parameters around getting started. Too many extremely powerful enemies at the beginning, difficult to get a strong footing for a base, and monsters will seek you out to cause trouble even when far away. I think that could have been solved by placing torches, but I wasn't quite sure where to find coal, even though I dug around a fair bit. Rain was horrendous, as it just made it very difficult to see through my lenses. I'd have taken a picture if my left controller didn't run out of battery charge, and lead me to my death.

Overall, I think it might be more enjoyable if I were to play on the /vg/ server with a partner or two to help carry the burden. I might be up to give it a go again in the future. I think this image describes how I feel about the game at this time.

The thing about Splinter Cell is that its stealth works around very intricate movement and navigation, use of light and shadow and even sounds in later games to your advantage, and all sorts of pretty technical shit that is kind of nigh impossible to do smoothly in current VR. A real human body with a headset and a pair of hand controllers isn't going to be able to jump and crawl on pipes, duck and weave around corners easily, or do the fucking splits to hold themselves above an enemy like Sam Fisher can.

The result would probably be heavily dumbing shit down to such a degree that it wouldn't be a Splinter Cell game, just a VR "stealth" game that has Splinter Cell branding on top.

Are you using that sildur's vibrant shaderpack linked on vrgcraft? It has some bad defaults for VR unfortunately, during rain it tries this simulated "water running down the lens" effect which is awful. You can turn it off though, under the shader -> weather settings iirc

Overall though, minecraft is actually pretty punishing for a beginner. The path of tree -> shelter -> sheep -> bed just to get through the nights isn't obvious, but you'll get the hang of it after a while.

If you bought a pci-e USB expansion card for all your zucc sensors, you may want to put your index exclusively on that expansion card to isolate the rest of your usb stuff.. I might just be getting the opposite with my index then. Last night I had to replug the headset and restart steamVR 6 times before everything worked. Kept getting error 108 or 208 "headset needs to be reset", which appears to be some USB issue. Then other times the Index HMD won't appear as an audio device so no sound (USB issue again?), or the Steam and Desktop buttons are missing entirely in the menu, or the basestations never turn on.

I can now definitely get behind oculus' decision to make Rift S as plug as play as possible at the expense of features/tracking. Even though I personally have the knowledge to troubleshoot steamVR's issues, valve holds no candle to oculus' level of software polish.
