but I think there's a distinction between "hey dress up as this thing/profession that's often depicted as cute" and a full-on fetish event. Yeah, some people will make a sexy schoolgirl or a slutty maid but there are interpretations that aren't overtly sexual. My avatars for these events are usually pretty conservative. Monster girl day was a different can of worms entirely, yeah, you had a lot of sexual avatars (monster girls are entry level furry btw) but there were a lot of legitimately monstrous avatars that were interesting, and that's also the route I decided to go.
Blacked is something completely different. It is entirely sexual and you cannot divorce the event from sexual content. Just google maids, you get a lot of pictures of girls in maid outfits that are more or less work safe, and actual advertisements for maid services. Google blacked and 100% of the content is sexual. Blacked is a sexual kink and nothing more, which is what I'm talking about when I call it a fetish event.

In my humble just-another-member-of-the-community opinion, I don't like fetish events because I think the tone of the meetups should be PG-13. Blacked goes a step beyond that and I find it revolting. Don't really want to see it. I don't think people should have penises or naked avatars out in the meetup at all, keep that stuff to private.

The updates Into The Radius has gone through have actually made it playable. Backpacks work, sleeping bags work, raycasting cursor works, grenades don't randomly lose their pins. Played for about an hour and a half doing three missions before it crashed in the shop while I was reorganising my bullets into new mags. Be careful around the quarry though because the colliders on the ground don't quite match the ground mesh so it's easy to fall in.

It's not as good as STALKER but it's getting there and is probably the only VR STALKER around. They're getting to the end of the alpha now so the core gameplay loop is in. Doom map could really benefit from a inventory system that some maps do. There's one particular spooky map that replaces jump with inventory and it works well. It saves you a lot of trouble backtracking to get back your gun. Shotgun seems to be prone to disappearing entirely. On the 2nd to last level it bugged out entirely and didn't shoot ammo when I had max 50. Not sure if it was intentional but on the last map, when you clear out the enemy spam and step on the ritual stone enemies spawn all around you, screen goes pixelated suddenly, and you're booted to a public Uganda world. I'm curious if that was intentional or if VRC just somehow shit the bed randomly at that point

You can play Heretic and maybe Hexen through the same source port you use for Doom. Quake has a port, but supposedly the GearVR/Quest version of it was way better. DolphinVR works kinda well for some games, PPSSPP VR kinda works for a handful of games too. Other than the controller support, the VR mod for Alien Isolation was pretty good too when I tried it a while ago.

Nah I was just trying to remember since I lumped it in with the first two and haven't played it in a while. Thinking back/refreshing my memory it probably doesn't fall under "good vr-port", but it is a cool horror-action game and I think it works better in VR than it did trying to be a Doom game.
Reloading and all that is mapped to buttons since the original didn't support picking anything up, same as PT though that one doesn't really need it.
Penumbra is probably the best vr-port among those since the original already allowed you to pick up and interact with the environment. Amnesia needs a port as well for that same reason.

I only messed with DolphinVR a little before I got pulled into other stuff that was easier to set up. Seemed fine though, and I think there was some kind of a 90 fps hack, but I can't remember how well it worked. I really need to set that back up sometime and try Metroid Prime in VR.
PPSSPP VR was a fork just like Dolphin, but I can't remember which games worked well. It's apparently Oculus only too, which I guess is why I never tried it.

So, I finally got my index, but it just won't fucking work, USB is giving me troubles, saying it 'usb controller resources exceeded' or some bullshit, so I googled that and all errors come from the fact that people tried using them on laptops, problem being I'm using a desktop computer, and I'm not using a hub either, and then I also unplugged ALL USB devices from my PC and the only ones left are mouse and keyboard (both using 2.0 ports tho) and yet the issue persists

I looked into valve/steam's official guide and they tell me to get into steamVR's options and then go to developer use the 'remove all steamvr usb devices' option, problem being, there's no such thing (anymore?)!

I thought it was because of my old 770 (my new GPU won't be here until thursday) but this is giving me ANOTHER error (436) but it seems like even people with new GPUs are having this error as well

Discussing it, the best place for it would have to be a Indium system with one scenic calm planet, and the others with varying resources. Things like Blender and Unity don't just magically pop how they work into your head, you have to sit down and figure it out for a while, anybody discouraged, just give it a shot and see what happens. Serious Sam will be making a comeback, at least hopefully, the mod that was created was the thing to break it, so between now and Friday I might be able to fix it, and we can have Serious Sam again. That wraps up anything that needs to be thrown out there.

The Rift S or even one of the gen1 headsets are the better choices if you have low end hardware since you won't be trying to hit the higher resolution or framerate of the Index. Still at those specs it's going to be tough and many games won't run well.

I used an overclocked i5 2500k and a GTX 970 on a Rift S. Real world performance probably not too dissimilar from your specs if userbenchmark is anything to go by. The experience varied from okay to unplayable and almost all of the ones that were playable had to be on the lowest settings. Pavlov was playable up to a certain number of players but it also varied by map. VRChat just feels awful being so CPu heavy. H3VR was not a smooth experience in take and hold. Job sim type games worked but I couldn't do anything about the jaggies everywhere. Something like No Man's Sky will rape your eyes and probably crash if you're not careful.

For the price of an Index you're just better off getting something else and spending the rest upgrading your specs. A decent framerate and the possibility to supersample or actually play optimized games will beat the novelty of owning the best VR set but not being able to properly enjoy it.

The main game mode is a roguelike where you're given random weapons and have have to move between supply points to get more weapons and items, and hold points to earn more points to buy them. Enemies attack the control points and patrol the map.

Look up 'take and hold' to see gameplay of the mode, but ensure the video is from the last 4 or so months, as it was more basic before then. There's also a few other modes, but none of them have much replayability.

Calibration was more or less the same that it was, I used the same process I had been using. Which is to playspace move my trackers to where they correspond on my body, crouch to line my eyes up with my avatar, and then used playspace mover to put my avatar's feet on the ground.

I first tried laying down with the neck fix, and my neck was a bit fucked. I thought it might be better without, so I tried it with an old avatar and it was worse. I don't know what the fix for this will be but right now it doesn't look very good. Maybe it will involve having an upper chest bone?
Viewball position seated felt about the same to me. Didn't try it without the neck fix, probably should have.

It's a total gimmick and a bit buggy, but still neat if you have any reverence for old NES games. Mega Man 2 in VR is still going to be cool as shit no matter what. Definitely worth fucking around with, even if it's just an evening of going through their library.
