6 point tracking = headset, controllers, hip tracker, and foot trackers.

Oculus does not make hip or foot trackers, so you need either kinect, or to use the completely separate HTC trackers and lighthouses and hack the two playspaces together. If you have Pimax, Index, or Vive, these devices use the lighthouse system already, so you just need three extra trackers.

I kept my rift in the closet when I first got it to keep it away from sunlight but now after prolonged use I am a gay prancing lala homo man. Just cover it with a towel or something.

The lenses work both ways, that's why you don't want to get sunlight on them.

Think about it, the lenses focus the light emitted from the displays, down to a point which enters your eye, they do the same in reverse, focusing the suns light into a point on the display, which can cause heat damage.

You don't have to keep your HMD in the dark you fucking retards, just don't expose the LENSES to SUNLIGHT for any extended periods. An extended period would probably be while you aren't using it.

SUNLIGHT contains a lot of INFRARED and ULTRAVIOLET wavelength light, which cause heating far more than the visible wavelengths of light do. Your room lighting isn't going to kill your HMD, nor is reflected light from a nearby surface because the IR radiation has already been absorbed by striking the first surface.

Ok I didn't make it to 1 hour and 59 minutes, 46 minutes is enough to experience this. Game is unfinished and buggy as fuck. Textures are low res, and yet it manages to lag very bad on a 3700x and vega64. The controlls feel like they were meant for desktop and they bolted a vr mode on top except even then it just feel clunky. You get dropped in with absolutely no explanation of the lore, it's just kinda streamlining the whole thing with "OK here some baseline controlls, but no where near anything about how to play the game or navagate the menus, now here's the hub make your choice on what you want to do with no explanation beforehand!" Weee I love video games!

I'd argue that if anything, it's actually supporting the PC VR industry and balancing out the potential detractors. Yes, some people are getting Quests rather than PC VR headsets. Oculus is investing in Quest more. Developers are slowly investing more into Quest that could've been invested in PC VR. But Quest gets much more people interested in VR, who may one day get PC VR, or now with Link, just use or get a PC that can do VR. And with a larger user base, there will be more content and base investment overall. It doesn't matter that content will be made for Quest. A lot of the best games of all time were made with low system requirements and for low powered mobile systems.

I for one HOPE developers, and I mean good developers, target Quest first. Why? Because ultimately more and better content on Quest means it becomes an even more attractive "console" for people to just buy, even if they were hesitant about PC VR. That moves the overall global VR adoption curve forward, more than PC VR titles alone could.

And let's be honest, PC VR, still, kind of sucks in the content department compared to flat gaming. Pavlov is a shit CS clone but for VR. VRChat is terribly developed and still doesn't have custom scripting. We have to deal with these developers and their crap development because it's the only thing we have. Quest not existing probably wouldn't have improved that situation much and we'd still have to deal with those same games but maybe with a tiny bit more Oculus exclusives that ultimately don't try to compete with these indie projects we really want to be done well.

Facebook doesn't want users to have the options, copyright infringement, and non-corporatized indie scene that characterizes the PC. The only reason they gave up and allowed the link is the quest didn't achieve that goal. Its software sales numbers are downright embarrassing compared to what Facebook shills were promising before launch.

Getting casuals interested in VR is insignificant now. Critical mass has already been achieved. The market will be driven by the availability of new technological capabilities, and the newest high end stuff doesn't get put into cheap low end headsets. Your console focus is just wasting time.

I tried shifting the audio over and it just moved other parts out of sync. Then I tried resampling the video fps, but it just made the audio shifted in the other direction.

It's very difficult. The reason is the quest records video in a variable framerate format, you won't notice this during playback usually but because the audio isn't also recorded at a variable rate it makes the resulting streams basically impossible to match up in any sensible way.

I've made a whole bunch of videos recorded on my Quest for this place and I sincerely hope you don't mind cutting your audio up into tiny chunks and syncing each one manually, because you're not going to find any magical sweetspot where everything just matches.

the meetup world refers to whatever vrchat instance everyone is currently hanging out in. It's usually friends+ which means you can join the instance by joining a friend who is already in there, no invites or requests required as long as you know someone., if you're brand new you won't know anyone so add one of the anchors then make some more friends inside so you can join if all the anchors are offline.

unless you mean a world made by/for /vrg/, there's heaps of those but no list since you can see any worlds a friend has created in the same social menu.
