Personally I'd recommend sticking with a single tracking solution, like the Index and Vive having lighthouse-based tracking. Having to do hybrid tracking if you ever plan to get full body on Oculus isn't the worst, but it can be a headache at times that I was more than glad to be rid of.

OLED has 2/3 as many subpixels, so the gaps between them are much larger compared to LED. Vive and the original Rift have a visible grip pattern over the entire display. Unless you're autistic about black levels, LED is a far better option at this stage. FoV also makes no difference; even the Index's 130 degrees isn't something you'd ever notice.

We have a mediocre troll that keeps copying them over periodically to his own, removes the steam/discord group links, and changes the OP. Often times he'll even stick in attacks on different users in various places.

The BM 800 is a ~10-20$ mic, youll need a ~30$ microphone amplifier/mini mixer but it'll outperform some of the "consoomer professional muh fidelity" 100-200$ setups still.

It's comikmarket in VR. It has a wide range of quality all the way from kids to proffessionals.
It's part of the charm but it would be great if they had a tier system in place for quality filtering. Maybe add a map per map type that includes the best of the best of that map type. Then amateur works can be on other tiers. as well. Even in a single map, a dedicated location which has curated good stuff might make the event a little bit more professional and quality.

So I played like an hour and a half of half life alyx. and its really cool. I tried a few of the locomotion styles and smooth motion felt weird. Whelp, after 4½ hours of fiddling with Unity and Blender and trying to follow guides, I've come at a standstill where the Model doesn't wanna let itself have the textures from the created atlas, it just puts everything in as opaque, not the transparent thing you see in the tupper guide - I think I did something wrong at some point in blender and I feel too defeated to restart from the begining. Next time I'll try a simpler model to go on, but I was happy to find that stuff like mouth and eye tracking was really easy to set up, and that merging bones weren't all that complicated either. Hopefully I'll get something going soon.

What shader you using? Some shaders call the transparency shader opaque.
Also, you should keep transparent materials on it's own material/texture atlas to not fuck up the shading.
Drag the texture onto the model to create a material. Looks like you think the texture = material.

So I've gone back to start over with a fresh model and all - and a simple thing I want to be able to do is to simply delete parts of a model I don't like, like this tail and the ears - How do I effectively do this without causing damage to the rest of the model? Do I leave tiny bits of it to make sure the model doesn't have holes in it, or?

The holes are hard to fill(for blenderlets and newbs).
For removing, do "seperate by material" then seperate the material wich has the tail on by parts(seperate by parts) in cats. Delete the mesh you dont want.
Combine everything to one mesh, then use the delete zero weight bones & the "delete zero weight vertex group" buttons on the mesh.

Decimate makes it look like shit, and should be avoided Imo.
It's way better to check if there a meshes or verts that can be deleted without ruining the model.
Edit away hidden faces,like body behind clothes etc.
Or if that don't work, choose another outfit.
When you have done that, call it a day and give zero shits about being very poor due to tris count. Dynbones and material count is way worse then some extra tris. Below 100k tris is good enough, fuck tupper/vrc Limits.

koikatsu needs patched IIRC, I'm running it off a torrent that was pre-fixed for westerners. Keep tris below 70k. You'll be fine below that.

Limit dynamic bones to an absolute minimum, merge your meshes in blender, and limit materials. Like all those categories, a lot of them mean something. If you have 65k tris and no dynamic bones, one mesh, 1-5 materials, you're good.

Honestly speaking french to me - I've been going at it for 7ish hours now and repeated the simple proccess of putting a model into blender, quick fixing it and setting its eye tracking, mouth and atlas, then plugging it into unity to finish mouth tracking and rigging.

Albedo = your texture, the .png image file with your avatar on it.
With MMS3 there is no work, DL it now and use it straight away. Just change shader and you are good to go, don't use transparency, turn backface culling off.
Some problems might persist, but you will have to redo your texture Atlas for that.
MMS3 should make you look good enough so you can use your model tonight without feeling ashamed.
