Is there a way to prevent having to redo the steps of prepping an avatar for upload in Unity when you re-export the model it with slight changes/fixes? Something to free the hassle of redoing dynamic bones mostly.

prom was busy, but too many people. EU's was a better map with differenct section and things to do, NA's was just a dance floor and pic room (albeit both pretty well-done)

EU had private rooms under the bleachers, an actual highschool halway with lockers, etc that made it more immersive. I didn't crash once. NA crashed multiple times, people had trouble joining, and even after they got in there were votes going out to kick if you were new or not popular enough. the mirrors in the bathroom were unoptimized and would crash anyone that entered, though the muffled Mr. Brightside was a nice touch.

All in all a real shitshow. I regret staying up for NA's prom, not worth it. Too many people literally dressing up their avatars in prom dresses only to get emotionally fucked when their date doesn't show up, comes with another, etc. Real drama shit.

Use https://github.com/rurre/PumkinsAvatarTools and it can transfer over dynamic bones and other addon stuff between avatars, really handy. But yes, also you can overwrite the fbx for smal changes and unity will retain the stuff on the prefab. Sometimes it'll break weirdly.

If you change the bones of the avatar in Blender, when you overwrite the FBX you will also need to toggle the Rig of the avatar to None and then back to Humanoid (and then Configure it again).

I don't think PvN was a bait event, a lot of people made avatars for it, but it was poorly planned. There was some short-term notice for a group picture around the 15th and some suggestions to team up and world hop to PvP worlds to settle the versus part, but I don't think that ever happened.

I think the best thing to learn from this is that we need to set a weekend date for these events so people coalesce and get their shit ready by that time, instead of leaving the whole month open for people to forget about it.

Events done over a single weekend have always worked best. If you're doing anything more than group photos and themed world hopping, announcing it way in advance and shilling it hard are super important too. Making sure people are actually on board with it in game and making sure not to schedule it too close to anything else are generally pretty good ideas too.

The pipes and ceiling tiles in this image are tile meshes, which you can extrude to create visually interesting details without much effort. The walls also use Hotspot materials that take the edges of the geometry into account and automatically align the floor/edge/ceiling parts while tiling seamlessly in the middle. Really easy to make your amateur map look not-shit compared to Unity or Source 1.

In case it's not clear to anyone, you have to actually have the game running, in VR, for the downloads to run. You can alt-tab out of the window to have it run in the background for an hour or so, but your headset needs to be plugged in, steamvr or oculus running, etc

I did pirate it, but the controls on knuckles are awful and there's a mod called VRIK that fixes it, but it relies on a community binding that you need to get through steamvr. From what I can tell there is no way to look at community bindings through steam unless you own the game, so I'm kinda stuck with the pirated version.

Supposedly you can also try adding it to steam as a non-steam game and editing the app id to match the legit game to force it to pull in the correct bindings. I'm not sure if that works for VR games like it does for non-VR ones.
If you're enjoying it other than the controls, it's probably worth the $17 it goes for on sale though. I didn't feel like the port did VR stuff well enough to convince me to play Skyrim again, but to be fair, I wasn't the biggest fan of the original version either.

S seems like a good balance for an inside-out tracking system. Cosmos and WMR seem to have a lot more issues compared to S/Quest. Some people seem to have a bit of trouble with controllers blocking each other during stuff like beat saber, but others don't seem to have any. Hope you enjoy it! It's a lot comfier and the controllers are at least based off the Oculus Touch controllers which are pretty much regarded as the most reliable, comfortable controllers to use.

The people who erp in this game are the worst and heres why. I don't need to namedrop anyone specifically since they are all essentially the same. Their main goal in this game is only for erp and they act like children as they try to obtain it. They have no desire to be friendly with anyone unless there is erp involved, the moment they know you don't erp they want nothing to do with you and their attitude towards you changes instantly. I've had multiple people try to act friendly with me with blatantly lewd undertones to the point it was uncomfortable and i had to tell them I don't erp. The moment I told them that they stopped talking to me completely. If you are already known in the community for not erping then they wont even try with you since they get all their gossip from other erpers. Its like they have a special board just to create lists of confirmed erpers and anti erpers so they can save time only targeting erpers and new players. They have zero interest in the person behind the screen, all they care about is how cute and sexy your in game character is which is probably a sign of extreme autism or escapism, they probably forget who they are in real life and take up their sexual deviant persona in game as their true self. If you are a new face in the community and you look cute to them its highly probably they will try to catch you before other erpers do. They are just like hyenas that fight for their prey, funnily enough they would all have a good time erping together but since they are all so bent because of "NTR" and "waifu stealing" the majority of these erpers hate each others guts. Its blatantly obvious when you see someone in the community open up as down to erp and suddenly these erpers flock towards them wanting to feast on their new target. They are toxic and should be avoided entirely.
