As I said, you can already do that with the triggers on both oculus and vive controllers. Unlike the other overrides, they are not simply "on-off", they have analog input values for the shapekey value based on the amount of pressure you apply to the trigger. I use my vive triggers to control my eyelids so I can manually close my eyes very slowly and give people the bed eyes look, or smile and look really really smug.

In the past I've already done what you're describing on my lewd models. Triggers to control vaginal dilation. Index and WMR controllers can't do it, only oculus and vive controllers can, afaik.

Got an oculus link cable recently and it's been a nightmare.
Sometimes it won't work at all and other times it 'just werks', the cable itself is fucking weak as shit and was permanently damaged after one session of Half Life: Alyx. By the time I finished the cable was a knotted mess because apparently it can't handle you turning around a few times.

Well it's strange because the area I subdivide doesn't have anything that affects it shape keys wise, it's around the left side of the torso not anywhere close to the mouth, but it still fucked my visemes somehow.

It takes a long while to gain level ups to use, and all level up skills are dependent on the skills you level, so basically perform what you want to level until you get a point for it (denoted by you getting surrounded by a golden aura with a ding). You can have a max of 3 skill points for any category (melee, archery, woodcutting, mining, and I forget the fifth) and 8 total skills.

Well I did place a holder near the attachment to the PC as I noticed imidately it is a small connector and will need some precauitons against getting pulled. You're not blind, the resolution for VR can be deceptive, sure it sounds like VR headsets have alot of pixels on paper, but the reality is they need to cover the huge field of vision that you normally have when you see shit.

Rift S is also just lower resolution than some newer headsets, even the Quest has a higher pixel count than the Rift S does.
Your image shouldn't be blurry, just so you know. If you use glasses at all, you absolutely have to wear them during VR.

You can boost the render scale of games through steamvr if your PC is powerful enough to handle it.

I noticed that the strain might cause some problem with the USB-C connectors so I did some cable relief. On PC side i just loop it around the power cable and run it under the case. On Quest side I run the Link cable under the left headphone, through the top head strap and finally through the cable groove on the right on my Vive DAS I use with my Quest.

Not exactly, you have eight skill slots and there are different skill trees. Its best if you specialize in one skill like blacksmithing or woodcutting and pick up some skills in the other trees. You can solo the game but its inventory space and time that hold you back. My setup is is 4 skills in blacksmithing 2 in mining, and 2 in combat. Because the devs don't like telling you anything ingame, look at the wiki and figure out what skills you want from there and plan out you path.

Something important to know, right now the game renders enemies in the mines and DOES NOT despawn them until everyone leaves the mine. So if you go mining by your self, you're going to lag out the server and possibly crash yourself so try to bring everyone with you or go when the server is empty.

As someone who owned a Rift S and upgraded to Index I can say it is worth every fucking cent and the production quality is fucking evident. While the Rift S feels like a cheap 10 dollar T-shirt you buy for giggles the Index feels like a proper suit that fits you perfectly. This is the actual part used in the analog sticks of the production unit knuckles. It is NOT the same as what was used in the development versions(I know, I had them). As you can see, it's cheap as fuck.

I used my EV3 knuckles for about 7 months before the index was released and I got production knuckles. The sticks, while looser and generally worse feeling, did not drift on the EV3 after months of heavy use. The production ones however developed drift after only weeks, on two different pairs.

I highly recommend that anyone using production knuckles rebind anything that requires you to click the stick. It won't completely prevent the drift from forming, but it will at least make it take much longer.

Thumbnail wizards, how do I make a great avatar thumbnail?

So far, I've gathered these considerations:

Avatar thumbnails have these dimensions (if they are the same ingame and on the website):

Watermarks with your name are super gay and distracting.
The preview camera when uploading doesn't match what you actually see ingame, because it uploads a bit wider than the camera. (Maybe fixed by now?)
Also, ingame there's a frame around the thumbnail and part of the thumbnail is obscured by the text with its dark background. (I wonder how high the background is vertically in pixels, and where it starts and ends?)
Striking a pose makes it easily look more unique.
You can use a background to give context or highlight certain aspects.
Or, you could just render a scene in Blender and put the render in front of the upload camera to have more control.
Actually fiddling with the Unity lighting makes it look pretty.
It might be useful to have Unity scenes set up just for quickly making thumbnails.
Maybe have a "thumbnail studio" set up at the origin of the Unity scene, so you can skip fiddling with the thumbnail camera every time? (Or, just paste camera components into the preview camera.)
I remember there being some scripts for more control of the tumbnail, but I forgot the names.

We need to have vrchat guilds/groups so we can make group-only worlds. Friends+ is too broad. Friends only is too limited.

A group-only world could be sort of made with a leaderbot that manages the list of everyone in vrg and creates the world each time to keep out randos, kind of like the pavlov server whitelist.

But instances are unreliable and players crash and can't get back in to manage it so a robo-Ryder bot wouldn't be very good. Better a real person does it until vrchat gets their act together and finally adds social QoL features.

Changing the VRCCam to "physical mode" and making the focal length larger helps with the distortion.

You can also install the postprocessing stack and set up color grading and bloom per https://gitlab.com/s-ilent/SCSS/-/wikis/Other/Post-Processing . Won't affect most avatars unless you have really bright stuff that would trigger bloom, or you want some "artistic" color grading setup.
