I did it. I fucking beat the motor pool. Holy fuck.
First time I thought 4 full glock mags, a stocked sawn off shotgun, and a stocked mosin would be enough but it wasn't. This time I brought the same plus two full boxes of 19x9 and it STILL wasn't enough. The glock degraded into rust by the time I was done. I was saved by the loot I found which included a brand new M9 and about four more boxes of 19x9. Even found a 100 box of mosin ammo which made me want to cry. The gun is too loud and attracts everything with every shot. As a sniper in nice cover this is fine but relying on a 5 round capacity bolt action against a horde, a literal fucking HORDE, of rifle mimics armed with AKMs is not an option. 100 rounds of tactically useless ammo when all I wanted was another 25 box of 19x9. Once I got to the motor pool I managed to clear it out and rummage through the place. Some really good loot but the fear that I'd never make it out AND have to do it all again made every crate opened feel hollow. Seeing pic related made me want to die even more too. Starving so I couldn't sprint, gun constantly jamming, dark, scared, and then fuck you here's a sewer maze. Thank god enemies don't respawn so I could retrace my steps and get home safely once it was all over.

I've been in it since the early alpha too. It has come a long way and still going. The map has been completely overhauled and there is actually a story (albeit loose which personally I think is better). Some areas deeper in are being revamped still. The harbor district is the next on the list. They've got 19 weapons with a bunch of attachments and ammo types for each. There's climbing puzzles and collectable tapes with spooky shit and pieces of the backstory around. Tonnes of stuff.

You can definitely run a hybrid setup with Vive pucks for FBT, and I guess you could run Index controllers with that too, but I'd just go for an Index if you really want the controllers that badly. A Quest 2 with the accessories you're going to want, plus base stations and controllers would put you pretty close to Index money.
As much as I like the Index controllers when VRChat's implementation isn't bothering me, I don't think using Touch controllers would really gimp the experience like having to use a touchpad for gestures did.

Kinda. It's a modified version of the way it works on regular Skyrim but matches your hand movement. It feels less like grabbing an object and more like pressing a button to stick the object to your hand, which you can then move around as you would expect from VR. It also takes a little ini tweaking to get the positioning and angle to match your hand.

There aren't any mods that truly fix the problem of weighlessness. Archery, magic and even throwing all have mods to make them somewhat decent but nothing makes melee worthwhile. One of the magic mods lets you use bound weapons to deliver spell damage and that's the closest a mod has come to making me want to use melee.

So I'm having issues trying to import a model for vrchat. It loads in fine but the materials are transparent (hair, eyes, skin, etc) which makes my character look like a ghost. I tried looking through materials and this is what I got.

Right click somewhere in the asset folder next to your model and create a material four times. Slap the textures in the albedo slot on each one. Select the body (like you have in that screenshot) and drag and drop the materials you made into the correct slots. Then you can edit the shader settings in the materials until it doesn't look like it's made of plastic or whatever.

You'll need to change the shader on that. Some shaders don't render the back side of the mesh so you'll need to use a shader that does.

That's backface culling. Standard shader doesn't support "cull: off" which is what you want. It's basically the polygons have a front and back side and will backface culling the back faces will have nothing displayed. Find a shader that supports it like cubed flat lit toon shader.

Xiexe's xstoon is pretty good too https://github.com/Xiexe/Xiexes-Unity-Shaders . I'd try out all the major shaders and see which one you like best in terms of UI, features, and how they react to lighting in different maps, which can vary quite a bit. For example, UTSv2 won't go completely black unless your last shader level is, which is kind of weird glowy on some maps.
