Neuralink gave me a lot of hope where none existed before. I used to think it was impossible but now I could see a realistic path to full dive. Some of the first uses for Neuralink will be to treat blindness supposedly. Once you have that you also essentially have a perfect headset built into your brain. You could also control your character easily enough with thought just like an extension of your body. They pretty much already showed that in their pig models. Neither of those things are outside the scope of the device in it's current form. I went from the CV1 to the index, and of the two, the headset is definitely an upgrade while the controllers were sidegrade/downgrade. The vive wands are probably a lot worse than the cv1 controllers, but if you're fine with them I'd upgrade to the index headset before the controllers if you can't afford the whole set.

The quest is far cheaper and visually about the same as the index from what I've seen. The issue is the latency at around 20-28ms with link. Any questbros got experience with the latency does it matter much for sim games mainly playing DCS/Assetto Corsa and weekend VRshit.

Not really. WMR tracking was its biggest downside for the longest time, and only now it seems like it's getting better. WMRs are great choice for sims: high resolution, good enough head tracking, not necessarily perfect controller tracking (which isn't an issue for a wheel-owning simfag). Then again, i'd definitely consider G2, it looks usable except for some non-critical issues mentioned in >>309100369 video.

Maybe the Quest 2 with it's new processor can accommodate a higher quality image for pcvr, but as long as your gpu has to encode video to send images to your headset, I imagine there will be an even greater increase in system overhead. It's already pretty bad with the Quest 1.

Sure but it's all anecdotal. I'm running a ryzen 3600 with a 2070 Super with official link cable, pretty middle tier.
Running a rift s I was getting excellent performance on Alyx, Boneworks and S&S's running at max settings. Switching to the Quest 1, I had severe performance dips in all three of those games during high peak load and I had to drop the graphical settings down a couple of notches and disable auto as in SteamVR or OTT. Even then the performance was not great. Stormlands ran pretty bad, too.
During scenes that had flat colours, the image would get muddy and colour gradients wouldn't blend so well on surfaces. A good game to test image quality on the Quest Link is Paper Beast.

Latency was not perceptable over link, but was over virtual desktop.

to that list, which is pretty good except for gargantua, which was 'okay' when I tried it but really didn't feel like it was worth the money, you should add audica, which is pretty similar to beat saber but is a breath of fresh air once you've spent hundreds of hours cutting cubes in half
you should also definitely check out viveport, which is HTC's platform but they always give out free trials, which means you can download any game that's in their libraries for free and try them for free for a couple weeks, which is a boon to give you an idea of what you could want (though not all the games are on there, sadly)

sairentovr is pretty janky, but is extremely fun (only try that in a couple weeks once you're used to VR though, else you'll instantly want to die)
SkyrimVR is unironically good, though the combat is nowhere what blade and sorcery proposes, it's still the only open world VR game out there today, and you've got all the mods you could ever want with it (got it for 11$ and got two hundred hours out of it and planning on doing another run)
Pistol whip is a fantastic experience as well, if you enjoy beat games
spacepirate trainer is old and pretty 'basic', but it's still a very, very good game to try out VR for the first time, because no weird locomotion or anything, it really helps getting accustomed to it
walking dead saints and sinners is pretty cool if you enjoy survival gameplay, and it's probably the only good zombie game as of now

It's a free 360 'wave' shooter that only takes 30 mins to complete but it's got great atmosphere and sound design. Along with the enemy design the presentation gives it a Resident Evil feel. I got vocally spooked a couple of times which is more than I can say for most VR horror games despite how frantic some moments get. Well worth trying unless you can't handle giant spiders.
