Not in a modern game. For what it's worth those lines are purely clientside and aren't worth paying attention to. You either just moved into cover and got shot by someone who still saw you moving there or someone who had a better angle shot you while they were moving to where that line shows. It's the usual FPS netcode problems, made twice as bad in Pavlov for multiple reasons and then made even worse with high ping players.

They shot me where I was standing around a second before. The line is accurate for where they fired from. The blood decal originates from where I was actually standing though, so that's what confuses me most. Other times you can get hit an entire second before an enemy comes around the corner, so you can hear their shots, you are taking damage, but the player position is still around the corner. It makes no sense and can't simply be 'lag' because then the shots wouldn't be audible either. You can fire at corners long after an enemy has gone around them and they'll take damage. Other times you can fire at someone very near and they won't take the hits. It's like player positions are completely desynced by entire seconds.

In that time all I've found out how to do is edit textures/change colours.

It's anecdotal but I'm convinced it's a mix of slow netcode, laggy players and most importantly a deliberate delay on animations and IK that can create these desyncs. A couple of times I've even seen an Aussie on an EU server desync so badly you'd think the hitbox disappeared, when it first happened I even though the sever had crashed because an entire mag dump went right through them.

Dave has mentioned smoothing applied to movement once or twice which he did to make the game look less jank than movement in say Contractors or other VR games. In my mind that would best explain the 'hear their shots, you are taking damage, but the player position is still around the corner' and it can't just be the netcode if you're hearing their shots or taking damage already. Again anecdotal but when it happens to me the worst cases of this are from aggressive players who sprint or rush at me which is where I would expect any delay from animation or IK smoothing to be the most noticable.

Nah you just need to remember the major contact points of common maps. Each avenue will have a meeting point which you've got to memorize the angles of where two teams leaving spawn at the same time will always meet at. Then take a look at all the hiding spots and approaches for the two plant points and how long it takes to get from one to the other and you've got 90% of the map knowledge you need to be "map aware." Everyone runs at the same speed so this knowledge will give you a good minimum time for contact on every route and an idea of where to hide or check when you're moving around the objectives. The last 10% are those nooks and crannies between major locations where you can hide and catch people who are rotating or flanking. In general though just knowing the places where you can comfortably shoot the enemy while they can't shoot you and how to get there without being noticed will give you a huge advantage.
After that the only thing to do to improve is stop missing.

The silicone one just slips over the the default gasket, and it is indeed impervious to sweat, the main benefit over the default gasket that just soaks it up until it's damp. OTOH it's slightly annoying when the sweat instead starts dripping down your face, but at least you can wipe it off with a towel. Since it's just on top of the original gasket, the fit is basically identical as is the padding.

Here's the PU leather one, which I think I like slightly better (though it is twice as expensive). The leather feels nice, but also the padding inside is some sort of memory foam, so it's a bit more plush than the default gasket I think. Also, it comes with these two odd foam crescents which go on the sides of the gasket (can see the left one in pic related), which at least for my apparently narrow face actually hold the gasket better.

The PU leather kit comes with a slightly thicker pad as well which you can swap out with velcro. I tried the other pad a bit but it's honestly hard to tell the difference. I feel like I'd mostly just be using it to hotswap for cleaning. The PU leather is also impervious to moisture though, so there's not much to clean/dry.

Also a quick re-review of the old cloth vrcovers, which I think are basically useless. Theyre just cloth that goes over the top of the default foam, so they really only delay the inevitable a bit (foam getting soaked in sweat). You'll have to wash both the foam and the cloth cover anyway. The feeling of the cotton isn't bad, but not as nice as the leather or even silicone IMO.

Finally the headstrap cover. It's the same cotton cloth as the gasket cover, so again not impervious to sweat. Which is unfortunate because the headstrap is the hardest part of the index to clean since it doesn't detach. It is better than nothing, but I really wish it was silicone instead. That being said, it does fit snugly with velcro and it comes with two of them to hotswap and prevent some of the sweat from getting in the foam. You can see the inside in >>310140205

And as a tiny bonus if you broke the plastic cord clip like I did, the velcro is strong enough to serve as a cord strain relief. Before I had this awkward piece of leather and packing tape you can see in >>310139664 to hold it on, so this is a net improvement there.

I have now used the silicone one for a few hours. It keeps the headset in "place" way better imo. The general feel of it is very similar to a scuba mask if you have used one of those.
Sometimes I lift the headset to see where I am in my playspace, this is harder to do with the silicone compared to the default gasket. As it takes a bit of time to get it "back in position" as it's not as movable.
The default gasket turns to shit imo when the grey thing that it comes with wear off. The black cloth is kinda rough and it felt like it could grind on my skin, making it a bit reddish/irritated. The silicone one does no such thing.
Tomorrow I'm gonna use the PU one to see what it feels like.
The silicone is superior to the default one atleast.

Never used one, but I did use another 1st gen WMR headset (Lenovo Explorer) for a year or so because it was super cheap.
It was decent for the price as long as you know what to expect from the tracking and the lack of built in mic/headphones doesn't bother you. I wouldn't spend much for one these days though.
