It seems like a really fun physically modelled climbing game, with actual gripping finger hands instead of spiderman climbing, but I can't play it to save my life, I got off the tutorial beach easily enough but actually climbing the first random tower defeats me, the vertical pipe sections I just can't grip.

higher res, fov, lens quality are all best in consumer class
good mic/audio quality out of box
build quality (headset itself fuck off seething controller posters) is superior to alternatives

gpu burden
no official wireless yet
price point
with the last two being my primary concern. for the price of *just* the headset itself, I could get a deluxe audio strap, official vive wireless, the fancy overkill mounting system they charge 65$ for, and a backup battery pack for the thing for the price of just the headset itself, and then I'd have a redundant Vive lying around gathering dust that's near impossible to sell without base stations+controllers, and just for quality of life improvements rather than genuine tech

I have 3.5m x 3m playspace with plenty of room outside it encase I do step outside it. I recommend practicing manual redirected walking first then trying the auto redirected walking. Personally I only use manual redirected walking with OVR or ingame smooth turn if I have to make LIV work with it.

I also have amd for liv. It runs like shit if have it any where above the lowest res. What are your specs? Yours seems to run really well. I have 3600x with rx 590.

The controllers aren't like Knuckles controllers, they do look better than the G2 controllers, but they're just updated Touch controllers. There's no finger tracking on Quest unless you count the camera based stuff that's useless in games because it doesn't work with controllers.
Increased resolution isn't as impressive as the numbers make it look either, even with the increased resolution, it looks blurrier than an Index in comparison shots.
It's definitely impressive for the price, but it's not invalidating headsets that have other advantages.

It's surprisingly easy to get 3rd party attachments that emulate the grip-lessness of Knuckles controllers. I've seen them for the Quest 1 and WMR controllers but the one's i've seen for those heavy-ass Vive controllers suck ass since the attachments are normally made out of weak 3D printing material and they break super easily.
Actually, taking a look at the Q2 controllers makes me wonder how people are going to design the same thing for them. They're so small already and barely have any attachment points that wouldn't hinder the tracking dots.

It makes sense that you'd lose some fidelity due to video compression when you're trying to do it as quick as possible, and despite the image not looking as sharp, the increased resolution does seem to help with SDE compared to the Index.
It's pretty impressive how good it is for the price though.

I just have PTSD from my old Lenovo Explorer's WMR controllers and their abysmal tracking. To this day I still have random flashbacks baxk to when I would try to aim down sights in Tarkov with my parkinsons hands vibrating like hell.

I just really don't like inside-out tracking, even if the technology is there and even if there's no discernible difference between lighthouse tracking and inside-out to the average user.
