Assetto Competizione and Project Cars(all games) are some of most VR-polished games. PCARS is hated a lot, but bottom line of all of that is that it's a high quality racing vidya, even though handling doesn't necessarily follow classic sim racing handling scheme and therefore it doesn't appeal to simfags. Give it a try.

Sim racing is harsh in general. Simdads hate change, give them good experience and they'll be all confused. On another side, for some dumb ass reason devs decided to not implement VR in big less-tryhard titles like forza horizon 4, so now here we are. Competizione, PCars, or enjoy assetto menus which are so bad that it's better to use external launcher to navigate around game.

I don't agree. /vrg/ has been a collection of largely impenetrable but interconnected circles, rather than a group in any meaningful sense since all but its earliest days. At most times of day I would be more welcomed in a public instance. If /vrg/ stopped existing but EU meetups continued, it wouldn't make any difference at all to me.

new headstrap from aliexpress arrived. build quality seems good enough, the pastic on the arms is a bit thin but it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to replace if they broke. you can't angle the headset up very much so you can't peak at a screen, it fits solid the the face. there is a gap between the bottom portion and head, but it doesn't seem like much of a drawback as it's the perfect handle for taking off the headset, which just slides off if you do it that way. so far it's been great, only played some beat saber so far but this weekend will be a good comfort test when i spend hours in mahjong. just need to design and print a new mount for my power bank. would recommend but only if you find a listing/sale for less than $30

You can consider old/used devices if you really want to go lower budget: CV1 resolution will be shit compared to current headsets, but when you think about it, this ~200 yuro CV1 kit will play all of the PCVR games just as well as any other headset would arguably better than many headsets with shitty or not fully-featured controllers.
