I'm looking for Xiexe's XSFur shader v1.2.2 - does anyone have it?

I've pissed away a bunch of time trying to get it to work correctly on my map (it's not baking light correctly and thus constantly looks like shit). Xiexe himself has been little help saying that there's a checkbox (there isn't) and then saying 'maybe i fixed it, I need to re-do the shader' which also doesn't help me. Apparently you can't even download old version of the shader on Booth so even buying it isn't the solution.

I really need this feature and I'm sick of running in circles. 1.2.2 is specifically the version that he added the lightmapping feature. Does anyone here have it?

Index is known for having build quality issues, most people here have had to RMA at least controllers and a cable, usually the headset itself too. Valve are very good on RMAs as long as you're in warranty though so it's not a concern, especially if you're in EU with a 2 year warranty. Beyond that it's pretty robust as long as you're not being stupid.

About the same. All lights marked "not important" render as vertex lights and they're all done in the forward pass, so basically free. Pure Bakery SH lighting is god tier too, but you need to use special lights and an adapter for vrc since it doesn't work out of the box... But you can do this as well as long as you turn all player shadows off. Light probes and Vertex lights can be very cheap if you do it right.
Also vrc renders at 8x AA by default unless you go at vrclow with a default shadow render of 150m which is -way- too much, using shadowmask, not distance shadowmask, but meh, what can you do. Override it in your gpu control panel.

Index has issues with durability. If you get a working one to begin with however chances are good it'll last at least 2 years. The warranty is honored very well by steam and they don't fuck you about much so if something does go wrong you can get a replacement with minimal hassle.

I have the same problem with a 3700X, 2070s and official Link cable plugged into the GPU and I get terrible perf in all SteamVR titles running in SteamVR mode (but fine running SteamVR titles in Oculus mode). One problem I had was with star wars squadrons, it seems to be limited to 45 fps because it has reprojection forced on due to a bug in the engine. I got it to work at one point, but then it broke today. That's the only game I've had trouble with.

It probably doesn't actually cause it to be 2 billion polys. My completely uneducated assumption is that because it can't "Read" the information on tri count from the .fbx it's just assuming the worst and defaulting to the maximum possible polys allowed as the tri count value.

VR is changing peoples tastes.
Baked AO also avoids some of the bad lighting in worlds.
Personally, I'm a HUGE fan of specular hair, baked AO/normals/spec on clothing (so like a sharp pbr look) mixed with toon shading and AO on skin.
A skin detail map is really immersive.
For faces, it's okay to be flat lit or have a normals edit, so you can be seen well in photos.
Silent's Cell Shading Shader 1.8 is a one stop shop for that.
There's a few other esoteric ones out there i'm starting to like too, but standard is really heavy by itself dispite what people think.
It's actually better to use standard lite or not at all if you don't have a normal.
If you don't, use Mtoon from VRM or unironically vrchat's toon shader which is based on XS toon.

You should not use a normal mapped shader without a normal map. It's double the draw calls for absolutely zero reason.
Honestly, if vrchat could somehow automatically replace every standard shader that is obviously only set up with a single texture with something like lit diffuse, performance would go way the fuck up across the board generally even on fallback shaders.
It's why it sometimes felt "faster" back when everyone was using noe or cubed - simple shaders, no extra draw calls.

Really though, it's the biggest source of load in this game is other players: That's why vrchat is such a beast - not every map will do this. There's a couple esoteric maps out there that are like one to nine draw calls, like that graff tunnel map all the dancers go to.
I was there on a sunday meetup once and it was the first time i've ever been with more than 10 people in vrchat on a 1070 and had 90 frames. It was the strangest - the map isn't interacting with the users except with light probes and a baked reflection probe and it's apparently one material.
VRCon 2020 is pretty great too, all SH lighting. The New years world should be good too since it was made by the same people, but I haven't been there yet.
wrongly set up background sound is also a huge issue for ram and cpu. Realtime render textures are a small load but not as bad as they could be, realtime soft shadows in shadowmask are a real killer. Real time lights can suck too, except for the one directional light, and all of those things only get costly if they're hitting a bunch of players at once, or something breaks batching in a weird way. Polycount doesn't matter until you're into the 10's of millions on players, polycount on static worlds is almost meaningless, even on quest. Where it matters is if you have a ton of materials to go with that.
Almost All of that is CPU load - your gpu has nearly nothing to do with it.
VRChat (and unity 2018.4 in general) has ways to make things insanely fast, but when the most basic lighting setup (the defaults it comes with) quadruple draw calls on most players out of the gate there's not much you can do - every player is like rendering 4 players at the same time in most maps. You can tell easily when it's done well arbitrarily if you get full frames by yourself, (loading playerlocal+player layers) and you only go into reprojection after about 5 or 10 people with single material @4k models. Other maps will do that in +1 player.

Tupper does care, but so do I. What's dumb is people blame vrchat, but really it's other models and poorly lit/set up maps.
I just think it's really important that people start to learn this stuff. A lot of people wonder why their maps don't get players or why the black cat is consistently ful. Only a few materials (some of spookyghostboo's maps are 1 single material), and the layout of the map occludes 1/3rd of all players from you at all times.
Doing it this way makes it one of the fastest maps in the game, and people subconsciously find it very comfortable to be in so they end up there all the time.
It's the same reason people find themselves in mirror cuddle piles with the same 5 people - you get frames up until that point and it's uncomfortable to play the game otherwise but they don't know why. Even when you're used to getting 24fps 3x reprojection and you don't get sim sick, it still feels uncomfortable compared to getting full 144hz in something like HL:alyx.
It can be fixed completely though, if people learn these things.
VRChat is sometimes the only game people play now so they forget how little hardware it takes to run VR now. There isn't a computer on earth that can do VRC at 144hz right now in every map.
You WILL get 24fps on a 5950x, 32gb of 4000mhz ram, and a 3090 in an air conditioned room with windows tweaked in the most performant way you can. You can get your system tuned by a professional and spend 8000$ and it won't matter, because nothing can fix the fact that 95% of maps are set up with both Realtime gi and baked gi and players are using 4x 4k texture maps. a 10900k with 4 cores turned off under water can't get high enough single core perf: your ram fills on your gpu, and your cpu now has to start swapping materials every frame on a single core - that happens in the memory bus and you can't overcome it. It's a true bottleneck. Quad channel memory helps a little.
smart cache on nvme might solve it next w10 update.

As an FYI - If you're crashing going into the NYE map then turn VRSS off in the Nvidia settings. Was crashing on joining that and some other worlds but turning off VRSS lets me load in fine.

the one exception to this is dynamicbone.
The default safety/perf settings for dynamicbone stop being relevant once you get over 10 people.
VRChat has a config file in %appdata%/locallow/vrchat/vrchat you can make called config.json.

I use the following. It bumps your default camera picture resolution up, limits particles, and allows you to completely turn dynamicbone off if you want when you turn on safety settings. Very, extremely worth.
Also steamvr has a memory leak after so many hours. Get some water and restart steamvr now and then and you'll be in much better shape. It's also better to pick a resolution like 120% and just keep it there rather than use automatic SS scaling.

but the heavy mechs are fine as well although it would be nice if they had some way to repair themselves after battles. They have obvious disadvantages on stockpile and objective focused gamemodes but theyre the king of brawls and thats how it should be. If they were buffed to the point where a light mech can barely touch them then you'd not only have a similar problem as before but you'd have a much slower more boring game.
