1. Chaos theory is on unreal engine 2, should be able to rip the models fairly easily. And they look like they come standard with bones set up. Look around game folder and google how to extract models.
2. Get them to .fbx format somehow, the tool you used for ripping might already be able to save it to such format. If not, you can open it in blender, click giant "fix model" button in CATS plugin and then export as .fbx
3. You put it in unity and do regular avatar work. You can find tons of tutorials for the last part. It's mostly just putting the model into scene, adding VRC avatar descriptor component and filling it out with at least lipsync settings.
Once that's done you upload the avatar and it should more or less work.

baking textures on a model is because you can have a million tri super smooth subdivided model with the same UV mapping as the low poly one you're gonna use in vrchat. Most modify the model to be more customized to what their individual vision is.

Sadly, advice for conversation can only help so much as every person is interested in different things. Most i can give is questioning thier avatar and where its from, favourite games, asking what hobbies they have, or any other kind of opener, then seeing if you can add on it and/or ask a follow up questions. Most people from /vrg/ are nice enough to entertain any topic you can put forth, we have a lot of blender/unity guru's that will happily talk about what they are working on or what you want to do to your model etc. But things like this take time and the only thing that can help it improve is trying again and again. I suggest you don't look it up if you don't want spoilers, but it's quite something.
You need to do some specific heists that have you gather some special loot (golden grin casino being an example, if you remember that weird black/golden chest that's in the vault).
Once you do all those required heists, their loot is available for tinkering with in the safehouse. Tinkering with them + some secret stuff in correct order will progress the secret ending route. After that, in a quite interesting way you get a list of achievements which you must complete to continue progressing. The achievement list you must do is unique to each player. Once you AND 3 OTHER PLAYERS all do your achievement lists, the 4 of you can go do the final heist where you'll get to take the secret ending route. The rest is fucking hard, that's all I'm gonna say.
I intentionally tried to be as vague as possible as I believe you might get a better "wow" factor from doing all those things yourself and not watching it all in a video like I did.
Honestly I'd be down to trying doing this as it can be done on Overkill and it's really interesting content, but it will require achievement farming and it seems it'll require some sweaty gameplay for the final heist.
Think I'm gonna start doing the story mode too when I can, wanted to get it over with for quite some time now.

The topology is far too dense for a game-ready model, but you can get even more detailed if you're planning on doing a proper retopo.
I wouldn't suggest going all-out like this if it's your first model, or even a first attempt at making a model from scratch. Start with box modelling something low-detail and maybe chibi to get the fundamentals down.

The problem with starting big is that you run the risk of never finishing it, or finishing it, being unhappy with the result, and never trying again. Might also be good practice to create some basic props from side profile reference images if you're having trouble doing a full character as well.

Since I'm currently unemployed and there's nothing to do outside, I'm looking into getting into VR. I was thinking of buying a Quest 2 (I don't mind the facebook account link), and using it either standalone for some games or with virtual desktop for stuff like Alyx.

My main question is, is it possible to pirate games to play on the Quest, either standalone or linked to a PC?
I like to try stuff before I buy it if I'm not sure I'll like it, I do this a lot for normal PC games already. And I'm not sure I want to pay 20€ for Virtual Desktop if I can avoid it.
Also, if you have recommendations for other headsets, I'm open to them. I see that the pasta in the OP recommends against Oculus, but I'm not sure how good other options are. (Keeping a 350-400€ budget in mind, I'm not getting an Index)

Yes to both. Quest piracy is the same as Android piracy, just find an APK online and sideload it. There are programs like SideQuest designed to help you with this. Trust me when I say that virtual desktop is the best purchase available on the Quest store.
PCVR game piracy is literally the same as normal vidya piracy. Most games are available on the Russian forum.

Honestly the Quest 2 is just too good for the price. The main issues are the facebook stuff, inside out being a bit eh for some games, and Quest Link isn't as good as a standard PCVR headset. Index is the only thing I'm really willing to recommend over it, though that's with it's own issues. Rift S maaaaaybe, if you plan to mostly use it as a PCVR headset, but that's basically been EoL since launch so bare that in mind.

for me it's been a never ending process of tweaks, but two hours for a from-scratch base is pretty quick. shapekeys can take awhile but since you can combine them, it gets faster and faster as you go. starting out high poly is a good practice. it's easy enough to decimate later. I like the example of the streamer ironmouse. So, I tried out the IKTweak mod, and it's pretty damn good. Viewball drift is eliminated in my case.
Still I experienced some issues that made my movment when not lying down look fucking retarded.
Will probably only use it when I lie down in the future, as it excels at that.
