A medium sized grinder that isn't a complete slouch that has decent maneuverability would help but a kind of stop-gap between the range of mechs too since you either play as super fast light or super slow big, like SUPER fucking slow, the catalyst barely moves any faster than the dredge.

A large variant of the minigun would also be a nice answer to hoppertrannies

Anon, the catalyst walks at the same speed as the dredge, it takes a little less fuel to get it airborne but it has a smaller max fuel tank capacity anyway so that's moot. The cockpit sticks out like a sore thumb and is easy to headshot and don't tell the hoppers but the chest mounted XL weapon isn't an arm mount but is a torso mount so if you hit that bit head on it has literally no armour and goes straight into torso critical very fast

The catalyst isnt terrible but its mobility simply isn't there to justify taking it over a dredge as far as I can see. If it were a little bit more mobile then it would serve its purpose of supporting the heavier mechs but its barely more mobile than a dredge.
I think the problem is really that the goldrush is simply too good compared to the other not-hopper options. It has good firepower in spite of lacking a rocket mount and it is decently tanky particularly from the front, probably moreso than the catalyst since its rocket mount is completely exposed. If skyjackers were good then this would balance it out since the goldrush can't have one but they are and the goldrush is tremendously more mobile.

If you find yourself in either of those situations in a Rook you've messed up.
You use your sideways movement to GTFO and back to your team, with a full tank of fuel it can go fast enough that a Hoppertranny will struggle to keep up. You can't fight well in close range with the arm mounted weapons, they will either miss or hit two different parts of the enemy, then you'll overheat too.

I'm trying to give a character a coat
I bought the coat and have an FBX & a Unity package.
All the guides I see on adding clothes to avatars are using blender. I assume they're for people who don't buy assets, and I'm not doing any major edits to the coat.

All dance styles have some underlying concept or fundamental body movement that gives it a certain feel to it. Rather than focused on choreography try to research and understand how the dance style feels like when moving your body.

I was going to use Hirabiki's swimming prefab to make a diving autism world based around exploring a cave but never got around to it. I liked Mechwarrior 3, Mechwarrior 4, and MWO.
Is the mech lab any good? Tweaking and optimizing mechs is a lot of the fun for me.

It's pretty fun and polished for what it is. I never played the mechwarrior games so I can't compare. The mechs aren't that customizable, you're just switching out weapons and some passive/active abilities, so you may be disappointed there. I've never tried public multiplayer, but I assume it's pretty dead or at least very niche "join the official discord and try to round up players". It gets played in the thread every week though, and if you already have friends to play it with it's fun. Even supports desktop.
