Could VRChat support higher player counts on larger maps by disabling other player's armatures completely once they're a certain distance away? Or do they already do this.

5700XT. I'm not sure what my average framerate is, but I don't think I'm regularly hitting 144Hz even outside of SRP. I use 100% SS on SRP too, and it's definitely worse than other tracks, but not bad enough for me to bother messing with it.

It's pretty good so far. You need to calibrate once and make sure to do the SteamVR room setup as you would with a native lighthouse headset, but once you do you are good.

It's not as fast paced as Hawken, it has hotas support but the VR controller implementation is top notch and worth trying. Speaking of Hawken there is a game very similar to it named IronRebellion in production but it's very very basic proof of concept so far, eagerly watching for updates on it because hawken was the shit back at its launch

I used those and have two of them.

While wireless setups like the Quest/2 do have the drifting issues with the space calibrator, the WMR boundary is stable as long as your aren't in complete darkness. It's only right to warn you that the G2 can't be used in darkness so if your playspace is setup in a basement you should be careful. You're also going to be missing out on passthrough and the potential for wireless. That said as someone who upgraded from the original Vive I'm not ditching the G2 until an Index 2 or something comes out several years from now. Have fun with the setup.

you can switch the solid dispilay mode to 'texture' or 'material', or use eevee rendering mode. won't be exactly the same as in unity/vrchat but you can get pretty close if you work on it. I just use flat lit though.

For editing in PS or whatever, I don't think you can get it realtime, but you can refresh the image in the texture manually. Somebody's probably writtena plugin to do it automatically on change maybe

Specular maps are fine. All they do is tell the shader which parts of the texture are going to reflect light. The one you're thinking of that is weird in vr is something like panospheres where the actual rendered image isn't in the same focal plane as the object it's rendered from.
You'd want a specular map and normal map with discs like the sequins tiled across the jacket material.

The overall UV I skimped on the sleeves some to prioritize more texture rez for the jacket front and undercoat, so I'll have to correct that at some point just so the discs are even looking. I actually can't think of a good singleplayer vrfps. If you're fine with something more janky then Zero Caliber can be fun, especially with friends (it's just PvE). Pavlov zombies is the same in that regard. Boneworks also but most think the gunplay in that is pretty ass.

I've found that even on the index you can't really tell the difference between 20p and 1080p, so i just use 720p encodes. Bitrate is up to you and your viewers's internet speeds. I stick with CRF 28, which is about 3Mbps and it looks fine. you can use -maxrate 3M -bufsize 3M to hardcap it if you have buffering issues.
