For Rift, I tried to replace a cable but they wouldn't do it so I have to buy one from Amazon. The controllers and headset started falling apart but I never replaced them because the Index was coming out.

As for Index I've replaced the controllers about 4 times, but not for a while now, and replaced the cable twice. The only issue is the standard useless troubleshooting they make you do, which can delay the replacement by weeks.

You can combine the meshes in Blender by selecting both of them and using the keyboard shortcut "ctrl + J".
You will have to merge the armatures after and reparent the bones if there are any extras (parent drill hair bones to original body's head, for your example).

If the addition has different names for the same vertex groups (head_00 instead of Head, for example), you will have to rename the bones to the same as the original before merging meshes.

The biggest hurdle to getting help from anyone is knowing what words to use and what things are called. The "how do I join mesh" question is one of those questions every board/thread has that is so basic and simple that it generally gets answered with "lurkmoar". We all started with basic youtube tutorials on vrchat avatar creation. The key word you're looking for is "Frankensteining". There will be plenty of tutorials on how to do that on youtube and probably some new ones that are a lot more streamlined than the old ones we learned from.

I had to RMA my left Index controller early February, took a couple weeks but no issues otherwise. And it was over the strap not holding my hand well, so I'd say it's honestly reasonable.

Otherwise had to RMA my headset after 1 week of owning it, think I had issues with it connecting properly if I remember right. Probably a bad pin on the connector or something. In that case they had already started shipping the replacement by the time I had sent it back, so mileage may vary.

Oh jeez my first experience with VRChat didn't go so well.

I hopped on, spawned in some little house thing. Used the mirror there to pick an avatar (Some bright pink dog thing).
Searched for a world I liked the look of and made a private instance just for myself.
The world was made to look like the train from Spirit Tracks, moving along a track. It was very cool.
I fell off the train and my graphics went crazy, everything was flickering and moving too fast, I couldn't move and opening the menu on my hand didn't help, I couldn't select the button to go home or respawn nothing on the menu was working it was like the menu was flickering extremely quickly and not actually working.

Had to take the headset off and kill VRchat from my PC.

Don't use teleportation. Play in smaller sessions and do your best to turn physically rather than using the stick.
Phasmophobia is too intense a game for someone who suffers VR sickness as their first title so you need to save that for a little later.

I know using teleportation may seem like it'll help but it's going to make it take longer for you to find your VR legs in the end.
Play something where your character isn't moving around either, like beat saber, so that your brain can easier associate the feelings of looking around, it's an inner-ear thing and you can get through it.

If you start to feel ill, STOP. Take a breather with the headset off, walk around the room and in five minutes try again.

Was trying to merge two armatures in blender so I could take clothes from one avatar and put it onto another (deleted all extra meshes off the model with desired clothes).
Using CATS it worked and it moved correctly but it was screwed when I tried it out in game, the arms did not correspond to where they should be at all. While having arms resting next to body they would appear to be in front of the characters, it's as if it was offset in some weird way.
All I did to the armature was scale it up a bit and change the resting position on the avatar with the clothes (because target base used T pose, while the other used A pose, so switch A -> T and set is as resting position)
Anyone got an idea what messed up?

Quest 2 is getting 120hz refresh rate in March.

Well he had no such compunction about anything else so I'd be surprised. I only had a little place at the time and one day he came to visit and never fucking left. He didn't pay rent or nothing but I guess he did contribute to the electric bill sometimes.

He's lucky I love him like my brother but this VR/headache revelation has pissed me right off. Over the years he has taken great pleasure in telling me how dumb VR is and now I find out the actual reason is just because the very first time he tried it he got a headache and never gave it another chance.
