The model I'm working on has a jacket, and if I raise my arms higher than the default tpose, the jacket starts to seizure and if I raise them higher than my shoulder, the entire back of the jacket just clips through my chest, colliders don't really seem the fix the problem. It was already tested for practical use which is why the military sent in the order to get them produced. Mainly, it seems they are using it for situations with low situational awareness. It has integrated night vision, and the coolest feature currently is that with the cameras mounted on the vehicle, you can be inside and see through the vehicle like you x-ray vision (though I'm guessing the quality of the effect is not that great considering some limitations of camera systems).

Yeah this is the problem with paraphrasing or taking quotes out of context. If I was more specific, I would've said that it's the mobile and casual "productivityfags" they're looking at targeting first with Infinite Office. PC is an entirely different audience and they seem to be abandoning it, so in context this whole thing is meant to position their headsets (standalones) as the equivalent of a netbook, which people like hikkineets have no use for.
I will say however that they will probably "return" to PC in the sense that they'll integrate more Virtual Desktop features while augmenting that use-case. Imagine having AIO AR+VR goggles that you just take everywhere. When you're outside, you can do more lightweight work like stuff in spreadsheets, taking calls, etc. At home, the headset automatically through WiFi connects to your PC and starts rendering the virtual monitors at your desk, ready there for you to access them. So in a way, the headset becomes a generic display device that you use for everything instead of needing a separate monitor for every device in your life.
That's where the tech will go eventually and there will stop being PC and non-PC headsets. They'll all just be standalones with varying amounts of compute on them (perhaps moved onto the head strap instead of on the front of your face), with the ability to connect to external computing devices.

Yeah, reading through it they're aiming for it to be an alternative to stuff like Chromebooks, which makes sense. For the time being it's certainly in their interest to lean into the strengths of independent devices the same way smartphones and TVs replaced the need for PC towers to interact with mundane things like basic applications, internet browsers and even games for people that never owned or don't care to sit at a desk.
Hopefully it does come back around like that and they don't just alienate the "high entry cost" PC crowd though since our options are fewer than desktop PC gaming before mobile games started to encroach on the space. Oculus isn't the only VR platform but the fear is always devs seeing it as the only lucrative one, releasing mobile tier shit and going "don't you guys have Quests?" when enthusiasts want actual PCVR to grow.

What did you use? It's a unity game, so utinyripper _should_ work. I did look into ripping the maps a few months ago, which are unfortunately in some custom format. I tried Ninjaripper, and it will definitely get the mech models at least, but the maps are still some custom heightmap/terrain shader and something else that I couldn't figure out from the textures.

The exact problem is that it isn't real life. As someone who got into VRC during quarantine as a "substitute" for social interaction when I could find it nowhere else, I got bored very quickly. Sure you can converse with people but at the end of the day the only thing that makes small talk with drunken strangers interesting is that they're generally real people you can interact with. On the internet they just go talk to other people, go to another world, or pass out on the spot. It's not interesting, it's nothing like real life, and most of the people are shallow in terms of personality. Most conversations you'll have in VR can also be chalked up to discussions about VR/VRC itself, what drugs you're on/about to take, or avatar discussion. You have to dig, you have to have enough personality for 1.5 people. You're not interacting with a typical social cross-section in VRC. You're talking to people who are at best a bit alienated from society, and a bit socially awkward. They're usually autists in a very literal sense, with a highly specific and narrow set of interests.
You can get good conversations out of these people, but you need to be able to set context, set topic, and build the social interaction. Alternatively you need to find someone with shared autistic interests and talk about that all night.

The Vive is visually inferior to a $300 Quest 2. I wouldn't even call it mid-grade anymore. It's only still worth mentioning because the tracking is better, it gives you FBT support out of the box, and it has an easy upgrade path to an Index. It's not worth dropping a bunch of money on though.

Invites are a main way of joining meetup instances around here. For those of you wondering btw, the vive face tracker isn't really a vive anything, it's a tobii eye tracker with two of the cameras cut off.
A tobii tracker has two big IR diodes and four IR cameras, one placed on each end of the device and two placed next to eachother in the middle. The two on the ends are used for tracking IR reflections from your retinas, the two in the middle are used more normally, mostly for things like "Microsoft Hello". The Vive FT is just the IR diodes and the two "Hello" cameras.
It even installs Tobii software on your computer.

The map is made like how they did the actual music video - the set moves while the floor stay still, this allows people to emulate Jamiroquai's movements more easily, albeit having to deal with trickier, and maybe nauseating movements.
The lag issue will probably depend on latency rather than optimisation, there's only gonna be 6 people on the map at most for the tunnel scene.

If you have an AMD card you don't need to buy Virtual Desktop for wireless, their driver has wireless VR emulation built in to ReLive now.
Of course with Airlink coming soon for everyone that'll be pointless. But so will Virtual desktop largely so don't waste money if you've got AMD.

Okay so, I used the Hai gesture/expression tool and I followed the instructions, but it doesn't work in vrc. None of the expressions do, even the ones that were set up and came with the original model.
1 and 2 sections are there so that anyone who knows what I'm doing wrong can see what it says.

It is done at a driver level and works with games like VRChat. Nvidia just needs to whitelist them on their end. Support for other eyetracking HMDs is inevitable as they all just use tobii. While AMD cards might benchmark better for rasterized desktop games, for VR games you should stick with Nvidia for both raw performance and functionality.

Try out https://github.com/lyuma/Av3Emulator . It'll help you debug whether the animation layers are set up correctly. In Vrchat you can also open the debug menu to see if your hand gestures are triggering the right animation states.
