Well one problem is of environment lighting interacting with shaders. The lighting resources available in different maps can vary wildly, so some just go lazy use the most basic shaders that don't account for every condition. Some do, so you can actually get the lighting on your model to match well with scenery of the map. Sometimes it's impossible though because the map is just shit. Booth models generally do use the good shaders that handle things well most of the time.

So for games I would recommend to go potato mode first and if you are truly bothered by it, adjust it until you have a good wuality-speed ratio going on.

Compound is really good and updated quite regularly. Dev says he won't put it on sale until it's out of early access, but I'd say it's worth buying. Lots of fun modifiers and weapons.

just make a 0 and 1 animation for the bone positions you want. you can have more than 2 animations as well for multiple keyframe positions, it works just fine

Make an animation where the bone starts at rest rotation and ends at the rotation you want to radial it over to. Disable looping on that animation.
Make a float parameter in your parameter list and a radial puppet in your menu. 0 is the start of the animation and 1 is the end so if you want it to be half way by default for example, set the default parameter value to 0.5.
In the FX animator add the float parameter, make a new layer with full weight and throw your animation you made on there. Set the state to use normalized time and select your float.
That should be it

Normally if it boots you out, it's because the spawn position is set improperly. Two things to note:
The world descripter's respawn height value should be fine as is. It's not relative to the object or spawn, but an absolute Y value. Leaving it at -100 is fine.
What I do is I set a cube or something without a mesh as a spawn wherever I need it to be. You don't need it to be a cube, it can be empty, but having visuals (until you remove the render component from it) is nice enough for lining it up so it sits on the ground. Also remove the collider.

It's really nice and very smooth, much better than other stuff I had tried but the biggest flaws for me are the actual viewing plane and the $80 cable you need to use it with your PC.
The lenses aren't very adjustable and no matter how I set mine it looks and feels like I'm drunk. If there are words less than a few feet away it becomes extremely hazy and some games have words practically right in front of your face which becomes unintelligible.
The cable you need to have to make it work with your PC is also very bulky and not very maneuverable. It's USB-C on both ends which I fucking detest as every USB-C cable or device I've ever had, the USB-C was the first point of failure every time. The connection to the headset is very wiggly and if you move the cable on either end slightly it lags out the headset which is bound to happen if you are playing with VR because you will be moving your body.
Overall I'd say it's a badass headset for something you want to use a few hours here or there but any "heavy duty" use I'd say it won't last. I've had mine a week and I'm already noticing the USB-C wiggling issues become pretty prevalent.

I'm 28 and I've noticed that one common type of person to meet in VR is someone that had grown weary of flat videogames and took the chance on VR. These types are typically older because it's usually years of playing lacklustre games that leads them to that weariness. At some point you might have seen them post how VR breathed new life into videogames for them. A lot of the anons in this thread are bitter about the way the VR market has developed over the past few years but for a time I suspect many of them had similar feelings.

There's Ultrawings, Project Wingman, and House of the Dying Sun if you like flight stuff plus Squadrons which that other anon already mentioned.
I Expect You To Die is a neat escape room puzzle game.
Also, sims like Assetto Corsa are nice in VR if you have any of those you're interested in.

Someday I want to make a standalone VR program that arranges your ebooks/comics/manga into a physical (virtual) library with stuff on shelves. It'd be comfy to browse through things that way. A virtual VR library interface to the entire regular filesystem would be comfy too I think, if done right.
