Anyone here have a quest 2 and block telemetry/prevent it from talking to the internet at all?
Quest 2 is essentially the only headset I'm able to get besides maybe a HTC set, but for under half the price and given the apk loading it seems fairly simple to just never let it talk to facebook.

If you're just looking to trial it out then a quest 2 plus the addons to make it actually work with a pc for extra cost :^) is the cheaper for a new product. As far as for other headsets, I've tried a silicon gasket for the Quest 2 and it's pretty awful for anything physically intensive. I don't understand your argument. You're saying "it's bad" because sometimes you have to backtrack? That's just like, your opinion, man. I personally enjoy it more when a game makes me backtrack, it makes me appreciate the map more. Calling it bad over something like that just looks stupid, at least say "it's not my thing" instead, don't make it seem like your opinion is the end all truth on what quality is. There's a huge audience there for people who like metroidvanias and get turned on by the idea of having to backtrack in maps. Having this kind of experience in VR is super cool for me and I wish there were more worlds like that. fwiw the backtracking in the devouring is really minor, there's shortcuts for all the spots scattered all over the place, you'll rarely spend more than 20 seconds going through a place you've already gone to (if you know what you're doing).

From a raw well-made point of view, the devouring is very well made. It looks nice, has lots of puzzles of different types in it, encourages team play with friends, has a clear atmosphere it goes for and executes it well, has enemy AI and meaningful pickups, even a story if you like that, a short cutscene that is skippable, mechanics that take vrc mechanics into account (the bell in the spawn if you need to respawn and want to recall the other players), the music design is good and memorable. Even if it's not your thing, the devouring is pretty much the most well made adventure map in vrchat. I hope we see more like it. It feels more like a complete game than most actual standalone VR titles you can buy on steam for money.

has different courses which are pretty short, around 1-2 minutes each. each course has a button that lets you spawn a rowboat about the size of a player avatar. as soon as you sit on the boat a timer starts. you need to row to the finish line as fast as possible. when you're on the boat, the rows are fixed to your hands, you don't need to grip to hold them. rowing on the right right pushes you both forward and to the left, and vica versa, so you're forced to use both hands to move forward quickly. each course has obstacles in it, like moving walls or water streams that increase/decrease your speed based on a direction, which makes each of them feel unique. there's a scoreboard at the end of each course that shows the best time of each player in the instance. you can see your friends rowing while also rowing yourself.

- simple, has no learning curve, anyone can start playing right away
- made for VR, utilizes VR hand tracking, speed and angle of hands can affect the physics of how the rows push you around
- doesn't feel daunting because courses are short
- doesn't feel repetitive because many different courses with different pathing/obstacles
- already fun alone but can invite friends and play together making it more fun
- has replay value because you can keep trying to improve your speed

can add random checkpoints with mirrors and nice scenery so that people who are tired can just chill together between playing courses, so the world works as a hangout spot too

I'm trying to use Libreoffice to organize my projects so I can get through them easier, and I'm having an issue.

Blender files open fine if I make file hyperlinks with them, but I can't seem to format Unity links to work. Does anyone have an idea as to why? As far as I can tell, both links have spaces in them, but it only gets upset because I need to reference -ProjectPath in unity to make it open a project, and then it gets upset because it reads the spaces as %20 for some reason.

By having everything in a document/table, I should be able to more cleanly go through all my files and ideas and get more finished.

Can't help you about libreoffice, but i strongly recommend setting up your own gitlab or using online services if you're into the idea. I guarantee you, the effort you'll put into learning basics of basics of git + basics of basics of gitlab will pay itself off pretty much instantly. You'll get boards with tasks you add, modify, explain further if needed, you'll have a version control system that always lets you roll back if necessary and keeps your project safe, simple act of writing down those tasks and putting them on kanban board makes you able to go smoothly, drop/pick up project any time with no effort because quick glance will remind you where you left it on, the list of upsides just goes on. I'm using this stuff for my projects and i can't imagine pulling through anything without that. You can find small gitlab hosting free online, or you can set it up locally, though second option is bit of a bother. Even if you're not trying to be professional at all, basic ability to note your idea in one sentence and then have it on board changes the way you work entirely, believe me.

If you have to though, you probably have to write some powershell script to fix up the URL encoding of the project path parameter before calling unity.exe , then point however file hyperlinks work in libreoffice to that script.
