What even makes /vrg/ different from other vrchat groups at this point? We're literally just a bunch of alcoholics and coomers like every other group, the only real difference is the lack of garbage tda avatars.

/vrg/ - Season of Spooks - TRICK or TREAT
Come one come all. Calling on all /vrg/ who would want to go around trick or treating this fine holiday season of Spooktacular proportions.

We'll be making a special map which would allow everyone to dole out 6 types of candies to any and all people in the map.
You can give out as many candies as you want but only one type of each candy to each person. THEY NEVER STACK!

The 6 candy types are:

1) Best looking Optimized Spooky Avatar
2) Technically Impressive Spooky Avatar
3) Scariest Spooky Avatar
(SECRET categories to be revealed on the day)

Everyone will be on the board and will have the amount of their candies tracked!
Everyone can give candies too!
So give a knock to everyone on the map to give you one or two of those delicious candies!

We'll have an announcer and camera man roaming the map to showcase avatars too so say hi to them if you want to showcase your avatar broadcasted to all the screens of the map! Hang out and chill out and TRICK OR TREAT your heart out!
If you have the most candies in each categories we'll be sure to make everyone know by the end of the day!

Special considerations from our NA insider who is an expert on drunk NAs have been hired specifically to beta test and scrutinize all pain points that would ruin the vibe or annoy people who just want to enjoy their time in a themed map.

UDON codes are to be polished as much as we can with a fallback administrative plan that is as easy as possible. The actual trick or treating segment will only last 30-40 minutes and was designed to never over stay it's welcome to respect as much of people's time as possible.

Let's all enjoy showing each other our amazing costumes to each other and have a fun chill and spooky time!

Link lag is probably dependent mainly on network setup and graphics card (amd encoders are pretty shit, higher latency than nvidia although not by enormous amounts).

I have ethernet from pc to router + 980Ti and I get 0 noticeable lag, around 25-35ms in total iirc. ALVR gives a nice graph of those stats.

Standard button labeling is not going to work for VR and images of the controllers phasing in can be nice, but it is ultimately immersion breaking since many games have to constantly pull them up. it's not superior to the index in every way, but honestly it's pretty close. the main advantage of the index is avoiding getting zucced, so pricing that for yourself will be the main thing. The minor things that index exceeds at are the outside-in tracked controllers with no occlusion issues, 144hz refresh rate, really high quality speakers and microphones, physical ipd adjustment, easier FBT integration with vive/tundra trackers, linux support. the q2 does indeed have better resolution than index on paper, though practically when you're either running through the link and the video is compressed or you're running native apps with PS2-levels of graphical fidelity, so index probably still has an edge there.

Quest 2 has wireless, much easier setup, better build quality and is slightly more reliable as a result. Not needing a PC to watch shit in VR is very, very cool.
Index has a much better OLED panel, a interesting controller scheme. The lighthouses are great when they work compared to Inside Out tracking of the Quest 2 but when it breaks it's the most frustrating thing ever. Quest 2 breaking is very simple to remedy 9 out of 10 times. Same shit with the controllers. The index's cable is also a failure point.

For compression link cable is still the best. I'd say with cable 95% of the time you can't see any compression at all but if you are paying something with a lot of visual noise combined with fast movement it can still be noticeable. It really depends on the game. VD it's noticeable most of the time from what I've experienced, maybe there are better settings for it but I gave up on it since I can hardly move in this room anyway so wireless doesn't offer a whole lot.

They dont have the only headsets capable of running these enterprise communication solutions. And their software isnt anything that cant be emulated by competitors.
