The shotgun is great if you reach out and stick it in an enemy and then shoot. With the game's very close quarters and monster closets everywhere you can make it do work for you. Admittedly it's a bit better in Doom 3 BFG as you can perma-sprint everywhere as in old Doom which makes planting it in faces and sprinting back more doable.

Anonymous No.371821321

Not him but one option is sufficient force to pierce the table, very hard to do (and impossible against rock). The other option is to heat up the blade using the fire spell, which makes it penetrate everything much more easily (this works for stone as well). If your sword being on fire is bothering you you can extinguish it afterwards by applying another spell affect for a short bit, they cancel each other out and if you time it right you can nullify one without applying the other

vr as in standalone maybe. pcvr is still in a coma drought 4-6 years with micro drops of hope, sadly. I have zero hole pcvr will get any promising games with good gameplay loops. hate it or not, but i still hold out that we get a game like Pavlov to rekindle na playing games again someday. don't give a shit about headset tech if there's barely any mp games worth playing.
Anonymous No.371830165

I don't know what a VRFPS can do better than Pavlov to actually increase interest. You can list some problems with Pavlov, but even if they were fixed, I doubt many more would play it.
Anonymous No.371837418

For me I keep going back to Pavlov as it has tons of cool mods on top of actually populated pubs. I am hardly a 1337 S&D player, so when I get tired of it I can fuck off to an assortment of populated game modes. Other VR FPSs have made the tragic and semi-malicious decision to disallow mods and dedicated servers. With the Quest downgrading everything modding capabilities, if they exist, have to be gimped in tandem as well sadly.

If someone who still cares about pavlov was willing to host, curate good maps, and babysit a server, I think you'd still get NA players. like how the EU lobbies still exist. It's not hard, but nobody has stepped up.

I just got a RTX 3080 (12GB) and I'm playing many games in great performance in 144hz (index) like Half Life Alyx, Zenith, Beat Saber.

But some games are not doing so good, like Pavlov and Star Wars Squadrons which are getting between 60-110fps (even in 120hz sometimes).

Can anyone help me fix the performance of these games and any general tips to help with these issues.

I have11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900 @ 2.50GHZ processor and 16gb of ram

Certain games I notice which are stable at 144hz can have a bad level or menu which drops the frame rate to anywhere between 90-120, is it still worth keeping the settings as it if if the performance is perfect (both smoothness and visuals) otherwise?

A lot of VR games have very shitty performance for how they look. Add onto that that with VR you are already rendering a very high resolution and you probably shouldn't expect to get 144fps in every game. I aim for 90 which looks fine to me.

But the point was I upgraded to play VR games with smooth framerate and detailed graphics, and a 3080 should be able to do that for the majority of games, and its only some. I need to know what I can do to boost my performance as much as I can, since a lot of games are just out of reach (like another 15fps or so)

I'm saying your expectations might be too high for your system. Just because you upgraded doesn't mean you can get 144fps in every game, VR is extremely performance heavy. Here's someone with your same GPU that settles for 90fps on low settings in Squadrons after a lot of testing:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdrZcRLqe14
That said make sure your GPU is set to prefer maximum performance, and after that you can overclock it for a bit more performance but there isn't much you can do without giving up something. Get FPSVR so that you can easily tell what is bottle necking your performance, it will almost always be your GPU but it's good to be aware, then you can turn down some settings to get your desired frame rate.

You can disable or adjust CBPC to suite your tastes. Run the reinstall in mod organizer or whatever you use, and it will give you options to adjust the softness of the jiggly bits. When you are using a body mod that makes all the nord women muscled amazons there's no reason their stomachs and thighs would jiggle so much, making the firm preset more appropriate. Or just get rid of the mod entirely, it'll help your frames.

The fact that you can choose to surrender your money rather than die, or in reverse offer mercy to defeated humans, roleplay a bandit, kidnap people to put in your basement so you and your vampire followers can drink their blood etc. really adds variety to the game despite it being intended for rape purposes.

The world is bland (actually the artstyle itself is bland, including characters), 99% of the quests are just "go kill these guys 20 times", the servers are incredibly laggy, enemies are either super hard or piss easy and overall, it's just repetitive as fuck.

Yes, but it's a special scripted spoon. When you order a little while later a chef brings you your food and both the spoon/fork snap to one of your hands while the plate snaps to the other. You can't let go until you eat up and you can't just use any utensil.

Anonymous No.371935712

Unfortunately no, although the mod also adds the option of ordering a drink (ale, mead or wine) which you get in a cup and can sip bit by bit instead of devouring a whole bottle at a time like you do in the base game. Again though it's a scripted bit so same restrictions as the food apply, no walking away until you're finished, no grabbing other shit etc. Well I think you can grab objects if you have higgs actually, but the gravity glove thing doesn't work (while you're eating/drinking)

This reminds me: has anyone here played a game called Shadow Legend? The game itself was really short, and kind of janky, but all of the optional interactive systems were great. You forge your starting sword at a smithy by hand, then upgrade it later via operating a grindwheel, then later you craft a potion by muddling the ingredients and putting them in a cauldron, then you cook your food via pans and campfires etc. If Bethesda decides to make a proper VR version of Elder Scrolls VI, I hope they nick all the good ideas that Shadow Legend had.

Well, that's simultaneously WJ's biggest strength and its most annoying weakness. Everything being pre-patched, conflict resolved, merged, etc means you don't have to worry about any of that yourself with such a huge modlist, but it does make removing basically anything a tremendous pain in the ass. For me, the biggest gripe I had with UVRE was the needless inclusion of every single realistic weapon mod being injected into loot lists. Most of them are vendor trash or scrap metal, so I don't see much of a point of having twenty identical swords show up as unique inventory items because they have a slightly different pommel design.

In a serious response to what you said, I agree I think it comes down to the game. You're absolutely right standing dead still and watching shit happen in VR is no more engaging than sitting still and watching a game happen on a TV or monitor. I was frankly bored with a lot of half life alyx because fuck all was happening. I understand it's pacing and character building and all of that but once it picked up and I have to crouch to avoid fire or detection, move around a lot, reach for things, throw hand grenades, time pressure things like killing those guys before they just send up a manhack, the game became very entertaining.

If the game in question is mostly just standing there or can be overcome by mostly just standing there, then yeah absolutely, that's boring as fuck. I would contend though, there are people who play VR and when you could move in person to accomplish a thing (which seems to me to be the entire point of playing vr) and instead they use thumbsticks to get there and grav gloves to pick it up, I can see such a person getting bored with a game where a person who moves more would feel more engaged, because they literally are more engaged.

Cycle of devs not making games because there aren't enough players, and players not buying VR because there aren't enough games. The almost infinite complexity of the 'controls' that large devs repeatedly fuck up with terrible or lacking VR interactions. The nature of blocking out the entire world to play a game which deters even gamers who want to be able to alt tab constantly. The difficulty of implementing something as simple as an on-foot to vehicle transition in a way that isn't completely retarded. I don't think VR will ever replace conventional games entirely.

I can get lost in flat games playing for hours without even noticing the room darkening as the sun goes down. VR is mostly the same but there are moments where it can go even further as you lose the self-restraint that would otherwise have prevented you from dashing into a wall.

What sold me on VR was the immediate feeling that I was moving from one space into another as I put on the headset.

My best experience with using VR was with a keyboard, sitting, and only using my right-handed controller. I found myself wanting my mouse more than I wanted to use that controller, but I couldn't use a mouse at the time because reason.

But seriously, try spending day after day not having the option for anything other than wearing a HMD to use your computer. Go try it. You will find that VR absolutely needed to default to a keyboard and mouse experience yesterday.

Barely. I am simply saying that VR needs to be compatible by default with the computer that it is using to exist. VR isn't some independent parasite that gets to leech off of your PC without allowing you to functionally use your PC through it. I used VR for probably 6+ hours a day for several months. VR must, first and foremost, be a keyboard and mouse experience. Controllers should be secondary, or at the very most, games can develop on the expectation of a seated player using their dominant hand to manage a controller. This shouldn't be expected, though, or the default.

>How would you aim the gun?
You're throwing a lot of questions at me, but let me throw this one at you: what is aiming?

There are people that play Pavlov, probably, with stabilizers. In gun fights in real life, especially in warzones, snipers do this just almost automatically. So instead of asking "how would you aim the gun", instead you should probably ask, "how can you better aim your gun in VR". The answer, by the way, is probably remapping your controls to a mouse, a flight-stick, or something that just isn't a controller that needs to be held in your hand. There is a better way, and the games we play should reflect that. Current VR games, with a few exceptions, have almost unilaterally failed us on giving us unilateral, fair controls.
Anonymous No.372118530 Replies: >>372119734

sounds like a skill issue. real sharpshooters don't aim their gun with a screen and mouse, they brace the physical stock and barrel and look down a sight.

Taking your retarded ideas as charitably as possible, I argue that having humans aim guns in a video game at all is unoptimal, even with a mouse. it'd be better to have an aimbot do it for you.

VR is not precise, but that's ok, because it's fun. And VR doesn't need precise aiming when casual sells.
RE4VR is getting all the praise for how fun it is despiite it being apparently easier than the Wii motion controls version, because it's fun.
"Serious" games can continue be played with "serious" setups and controls that min-max your skill as much as it's allowed like F1 cars and steering wheels, but casual is where the money is.

How do I fix the chaperone or play area in SteamVR? I'm playing Asgard's Wrath through Gammon, and the marker where I'm meant to stand is about a foot or two away from where I actually am, which means I have to stretch my arm further than normal to pick stuff up in front of me. I tried fiddling with the offsets in OVR, but that doesn't fix the issue, it just moves the marker/chaperone along with me.
Anonymous No.372158067

I should add that the marker/chaperone isn't an issue in most games, but with Oculus games, the grips on Index controllers is fiddlier than in native SteamVR games, so if I don't reach out enough to pick something up, I end up unsheathing my weapons when I don't want to.

VR aiming is like real gun aiming. The actual trigger pull and the way you line up the sights is the same so you can look up how to shoot tutorials for irl guns and be okay. Remember pic related and to squeeze the trigger evenly so your wrist doesn't rotate or pull the gun around and throw off your aim at the last second.

Not him but I also have a hard time making sense of what it is supposed to be doing there. You have a battery, an LED, some circuitry to do some kind of operation, and it's hooked INTO the gun. So it's not a laser sight. Maybe it keeps track of your ammo and lights up when it detects that 6 rounds were shot?

It's fucking retarded is what it is. It'd break after firing one or two shots, the open battery port would mean that button cell would go flying in a single shot.

Things designed to be on guns are supposed to be robust and have to be built with the force of firing in mind, it's why if you try to use an airsoft red-dot on a real gun it loses zero instantly.

As the other anon said a Dungeon master would be streaming their pc while in vrchat. The other participants was in their DND avatar and would have sent a pre-described lore for their characters so it was already placed before it starts.

Essentially the DM acts as a conduit for the actions the players would like to take and the DM inputs it into the AI dungeon GPT-3. Since it’s streamed everyone can see what the AI does with their action in sorta real time. Was a hoot I’ll let some of the adventures speak for themselves

It wasn't streamed to the public, we don't do that here. Someone probably has a recording of the event if you're looking for it.

My Tokarev is still my best pistol, despite having others because I've found more magazines for it, whereas if I simply bought 4 more Glock magazines immediately then there would be no reason to use anything else. I was excited to find the Kedr stash because I hadn't bought it on day two when it was in the shop and when I found a second magazine, it was something I actually wanted instead of something to sell.

There's a box inside of it, and anywhere you put the item inside the box, it'll freeze it there. It's important you organize it, lest you accidentally grab something else in a hurry.

You let go of the object while it's touching the white box inside the backpack and it will stay in that position until you grab it again. You can have things erupting through every side of the pack if you don't give a fuck, but I prefer to make it look plausible.

I'M A RETARD AND I NEED HELP
My PC is far away from my router so i use CPL modules to get internet in my room. BUT. I'd like to use Air Link to play wirelessly. The CPL connection isn't really good enough for that.
Could i like, buy another router and put it here in my room to use it for air link ?
I understand most PC things but i've never fiddled with routers, because you just get the one provided by the FAI and that's it.

I'm like 2 stories above the router. And it's a big fat solid brick house. My idea is that a router/acces point or whatever could just be linked to the PC and directly feed between PC and the Quest.
Repeaters sounds like it would induce more latency and worst performances overall.

The village map isn't much more difficult on the south and west sides, but the north is, especially the construction site which can be full of mimics who will all attack you together. Pic is tracer fire from a commando on top of the building who spotted me half way across the map. Do not go to the factory yet, especially from the first map because that puts you in a very dangerous area with many armored enemies that you will struggle to kill with basic weapons before you run out of ammo and get overwhelmed.

Payday 2 has it as well, if your arms are longer than the in game arms you can stretch your arms out further than the game can display with its body
happens in A Township Tale when I reach for stuff and the character arm is fully outstretched and I see my actual hand appear as a ghost in front of the characters arm, so i can't pick up stuff with my shorter in-game arms

not OP, but I usually use XSOverlay or the regular steam desktop view to hit the tiny 'save buffer' button in OBS. You could also make a keyboard shortcut in OBS and using OVR advanced setting to make a controller keybind to trigger the shortcut, if you figure out a good binding for it.

It's finicky with microphone, USB issues and worse than the Quest 2 in general. Both require facebook now. Worst of all the replacement parts are no longer manufctured and the few left are scalped to hell. It's cheaper to buy an entire second hand Rift S than a replacement cable and all wired headsets will want a replacement cable eventually.

If you find one at 1/3 of the price of a Quest 2 and only want it for PCVR it's probably worth it but don't pay much more for one. Wireless, aftermarket availability, standalone, better support and no hardware faults make Q2 way better value.

Do you have a lot of other shit using your USB ports?

A few games used to trigger the fuck out of my Rift S for seemingly no reason. Mic going full tobot, audio cutting out until disabled/reenabled in windows and the entire headset crashing until I reseat the cable. I took extreme care with my cable but thought it was failing until most of those problems went away when I moved all other USB devices, like my keyboard and mouse, onto a PCI USB card.

I still wouldn't recommend a Rift S anymore but the bulk of it's issues seem to be related to USB bandwidth.

I enjoy mine which I got in 2019. I haven't had major problems but I did get a powered usb 3.0 hub because I was getting grey static sometimes when I used the mobo "VR ready" usb 3.0. My mic never gave me problems, or at least no one has ever mentioned my voice going robotic etc. but it seems like a very common problem.
I use hybrid FBT. also pretty stable. Im pretty rough with it and I had to epoxy cracks, and contact cleaner the controllers because of drift, but everything is chillin now. I dont think I would recommend one at this point unless it was sub $200, since its unsupported and RNG might just fuck you with mic etc.

No. AR takes off before VR. VR will be kept alive by weeb tranny coomers. There will be some extremely niche uses for VR in real estate and travel. Remeber when 3D printing was the future? VR is already losing momentum in the same vein. No devs want to commit to it and for normies it's a huge entry price to play exactly 1 big studio AAA game and a bunch of fiddly, buggy shamless 39.99 betas. At the moment anything outside of shooters feels wonky and unintuitive or is a blatantly unfinished mess.

I belive VR has a future in retirment homes, but to invest now means not seeing a payoff until you are basically dead anyways. Imagine millenials at diaper shitting age. You'll stuff them in a home, and the nurses can strap on a VR headset to help them forget how shit their real bodies are. That is if their eyeballs still work by then. If my body is already falling apart I'll be more willing to let Zuckerberg bore into my cerebellum and let me into their Metaverse Microtransaction hellscape.

Seriously doubt productivity for AR or VR unless we are talking sales and pitching. Nice for architecture to literally be able to be in part of the building, that sort of shtick. Even when applied in the work place it'll be gimmicky, but will basically be luxury power points. I think we like to imagine Ironman hologram workspaces where we fling things around, but AR and VR immediately become cumbersome and annoying the moment you throw out a a simple drop down box or need to type quickly. AR and VR are the exact opposite of what you want to use when you want to work quickly and efficiently. I do a lot of 3D art which take hours. I started using quill. You quickly realize you want the fuck out of VR at the soonest possible point in your project because navigating menus and reading text is fucking awful and headache inducing. My current workload is draw in quill and gtfo asap to a real program. I find seething in 3d fun and makes me feel more free. Does it speed up my process? Probably not as much as I like to belive. I use it for the unique things I can do in VR which take longer.

For sims and virtual social interaction I think so, those are enthusiast markets that will benefit from the intensive and isolated experience. For casual, IRL social or multitask gaming flat screens will remain preferable for their intuitiveness, flexiblity and lack of isolation.

despite it's potential AR probably isn't the future in a grand sense either but I expect we'll see plenty of AR features in future VR headsets.

Is there *any* other reason everyone here insists ItR is not Stalker, but Roadside Picnic, besides that one loading tip with awkwardly translated closing words of RP? I'm only at the Infiltration (Intrusion?) mission where you blow up the door, so I don't know if the plot/lore develops in a more Roadside Picnic direction rather than just staying STALKER but with time instead of weird radiation.

It's more to differentiate the gameplay. When people hear STALKER they expect human NPCs, factions, mutand hunting and comfy campfires then get butthurt when it isn't like that.
On the surface ITR is significantly different to both Stalker and Roadside Picnic. The anomalies and artifacts are clearly inspired by RP but the journey doesn't involve companions, a bar/black market, any reference to life outside the zone or a clear wish granting role even if it does play that at the end. The radius itself has more in common with the zone in RP, being something alien, conscious, and unearthed by man/woman's hubris, whereas in STALKER the noosphere was a natural phenomenon prior to the experiments that created the zone.

There seem to be some differences between 1.0 and 2.0 regarding the ending. I think it was implied in the fomer that neither you nor Katya actually exist, instead being amalgamations of the memories of the people that were killed/absorbed by the radius and there's still mention of this in the game, possibly as a red herring. But in 2.0 it's also hinted by Katya that she had a role in actually unleashing the radius after the meteorite was found and is likely trapped until we free or kill her. By the ending we had turned into a monster like all previous explorers as if you kill yourself you hear the mimic death scream and regardless of which option we choose no real closure is given regarding the fate of the radius itself.

Does 1.0 still have the janky weapon handling? Like, you can't chamber check because it just pulls the slide all the way back and ejects the round when you release it?
Anonymous No.372727140 Replies: >>372727353

It's hard to chamber check but not impossible. I chamber check all the time. The only downside is that it doesn't show the right ammo type in 2.0; I look for a black or red tip to see what I've got loaded and get FMJ, even if red or black is loaded. You just gotta be careful not to pull it back too far.
Anonymous No.372727353 Replies: >>372728126

Is there a way to tell which Quest 2 Airlink performance hiccups are from my PC chugging and which are from wi-fi lag? My router is behind a wall or two so I can't tell whether the occasional freeze/hiccup is from that or just from my 970 choking. Service logs show the data rate dips as low as 10 Mbps sometimes and in general it's so frustrating to get hit with a freeze to fastforward in the middle of a firefight.

is it possible to move the router into the room that you play in or the headset to the room that your router is in?
in addition to that, do you have any monitoring software on your pc to see if your hardware is at 100% use? either the gpu manufacturer provided software with the drivers or Windows Task Manger under the Performance tab can show this to you
if connection improves when headset and router are in one room, consider buying a wifi repeater or moving your router/headset
if it's a hardware issue, see if lowering resolution or quality of ingame graphics improves performance
also close other programs that might hog ressources

you can finish high priority missions to level up your security clearance
"night vision" can be achieved with the Eye(?) artifact, an orange ball with a black center, and pressing trigger while holding the artifact
this does use up the artifacts condition and reduces its sell price and i think it disappears when condition reaches zero

Only get exclusives from the quest store, or games you know you'll want to play often, if you travel a lot and want to take the headset with you.
Any game that's available on both PC and quest will be much cheaper and boast better graphics quality on PC (except if the devs were fags and designed everything around quest).
