Ragnarock bros, our time has come.
can't wait to play payday2 in vr again
>buy phasmo
>First game is an oni that fake hunts me twice in fifteen seconds
Jesus Christ protect me, you didn't have to start so spooky
Anybody know how to setup a quest2 so the supersampling makes spotting airplane dots easier rather than impossible?
Running an RTX 3070.
So RE7&8's VR mod got updated for fully working motion controls now. How are they? Thinking about picking them up with the massive sale on humble bundle. They look pretty great, but not sure if that's just youtube autists hyping them up and if they're kind of janky for menus. I've got a 3080 so I'd like to think I can at least decent performance and settings.
'highly increased' energy damage is actually unplayable. AKS-74U oneshots you even with a vest.
playing ITR with scavenger mod on scarce
the only pistols I can find are Glocks, I have four of them
tell me it gets better
>>384565869
You can get Gsh and Tokarev on Permovay Route. Bolotky may only spawn Glocks, so you'll need to go to other maps.
>>384567613
guess I just crapped out my initial run through Permovay, ty anon I will wait for a tide
I had PMs there and didn't even bother grabbing them
there was the one static Tok still which has been good for sticking my neck into deeper areas because better AP on those
only found a half dozen slugs, saving those for armored targets
>struggling with framerate on 1060 3gb with into the radius, all low, resolution at .5
>try out this VR performance toolkit I hear about
>can now run it at medium settings with an even more stable framerate
How the FUCK have I been playing VR since 2016 and never used this
So, why isn't there a Rust-like game with Boneworks/Bonelab style physics?
>>384590268
can you post your .yml config for ITR?
>>384591483
Lack of money or interest for anything that isn't a weenie mobile game.
>>384591554
I’m just using the default setting. Anytime I change anything on it, it gets glitchy and idk how to fix it.
I also turned the settings back down to Low just because I want as little stutters as possible. I don’t mind the pixelated ugly mess, as my first big VR game was RE7 on PSVR which was real bad looking but still amazing.
I’m using a Quest 2 with link cable, so I only need 72hz
Specs are:
Ryzen 5600x
1060 3GB
16gb ram
I still get an occasional very small hitch, but my past twenty minutes of testing was smooth 99% of the time. I had to turn it off though, a mimic was fucking hidden and kept making scary noises and I couldn’t take it
>>384565869
>no easy way to run a dual wield build
I get that ITR is supposed to be somewhat grounded in its setting but still, I would like if I could hamfist a second pistol into that pouch on my left hip
>>384594975
>dual wield build
"any weapon in any slot" would be sweet
hoping if full mod support ever lands that will be one of the first things, I would definitely rock dual OC33s for the brrrrt factor
plus late game you could run an SMG on the hip or a sawedoff
>>384565869
No, scavenger does not get better. It is a mod that simply does not work.
>>384599962
elaborate
>>384603358
Other anon is retarded. It works fine but you've got to be frugal with your ammo.
>>384603574
He's probably the one that was playing with increased enemy health.
>>384590268
>VR performance toolkit
What's that?
>>384561042
can't play phasmo alone. The one time I tried to, I grabbed all my equipment, came up to the door, heard the ambience and just left the game
>>384546269 (OP)
I tried project wingman for the first time and my controller kept disconnecting. Doesn't happen with anything else so I'm guessing the headset is interfering with it, it took me 3 tries to get through the first fucking mission. Honestly I think I'd enjoy the game way more on flatscreen, will try playing it like that next time. VR is neat but doesn't add that much and has it's own problems.
>>384639483
>VR is neat but doesn't add that much and has it's own problems
>doesn't add that much
look at this faggot lmao
>>384639483
Play games with motion controls. Using it as a display is the minimal VR implementation a game can have.
Image of part of Permovay route updated.
>>384643716
Usually I think VR adds a lot, but with project wingman I just didn't get that. It's neat to look around the cockpit and all but it's not worth the hassle. Maybe if it had motion control support, although I doubt that would work well for a game like that
>>384648960
VTOL is a flight game that has full motion controls, but I haven't played it myself.
>>384649189
Oh yeah I've played plenty of vtol, it's fun. But it's also not as hectic as wingman
>>384603574
was gonna say I'm running a bit low on ammo but that's what I expected
part of that was also me being kinda retarded and going into factory with the PPSh
>>384634582
https://github.com/fholger/vrperfkit
>>384648960
Project Wingman is a flat game first right? I guess VR is just a nice bonus.
Anyone use VR on Linux? One of the main reasons I don't use Linux is because I want the basic function of OVR on there. I think there's something called XRDesktop that works on Linux, but I haven't fucked with it.
Anyone fucked with Linux and VR before?
Alright motherfuckers it is that time of the week again! We are cruising into the part of the year where the heat increases, the VR usage decreases, and many people have to buy new air conditioners to try and fight the violent process! VRChat is at its smallest and steadiest during this time of the year, best time to join up on decently sized meets and get to know people past the alcohol. That all in mind knowing how to work on your avatar at even a base level comes with that, drop by if you have gaps in your knowledge, or just ask in the thread.
Didn't get around to phasmo this weekend as another flavor of the month dropped. Going to round people up for another round of it though, either that or Rec Room or After the Fall, both have updated enough to be worth touching.
Dm *or reply* to the shop man if you have an interest in investing, know what's going to drop, and know what's going up.
>>384671840
wrong thread faggot
>>384648540
Absoulte nut. Sucks that 1.0 no longer works. They had a lot of kino areas. Glad they're bringing them back. The scythe anomaly puzzle in the 1.0 train yard was great.
>>384671840
I think I rather fuck myself with a broken glass, before I join this shit.
>>384648960
If you have a HOTAS then I think VR adds a lot to that sense of 'being there' with the stick and throttle, but I can see why it would feel that way on just a gamepad or M+KB
ok so I got project wingman and I was wondering if there is a way to use the motion controllers like a standard controller
>>384675643
just select the 1.0 version from steam betas
>>384677363
Should've looked more carefully at the steam page and google, anon. And no, I don't think there's a mod for that for this game in particular.
>>384677363
Oh, you meant something else. You can probably use a program to map the buttons if Steam doesn't let you.
>>384681767
I did look, after the first mission I realized keyboard and mouse isn't very good.
>completely missed a new b&s weapon until now
surprised you can even put it on your back
it even has lethal/non lethal switch
>>384688145
I'm glad they added it too, it was sad seeing it at the end of the dungeons but not being able to bring it back home.
There's also a new sword hidden on the home levelin a shipwreck
>>384677678
Yeah it only loads the main menu without any actual menu there so you can't play.
>>384670530
I exclusively use Linux for VR.
I'm not sure what you mean by
>basic function of OVR
but I have used XRDesktop and it works but IIRC your WM has to support it and so I had to install the KDE WM which I bothers me (I exclusively use a minimal tiler). Had some stability issues and windows didn't look great on the low resolution of my Index
>>384690770
What exactly do you do with VR in Linux if you don't use XRD?
Thanks for the advice on the WM, btw.

VRC works on Linux? HOW?
Hello Contractors on Friday at 18:00 UTC, this time with a bit more shilling
>>384693887
with proton
I'm currently on Experimental
>>384697668
You're... making it hard for me to resist redo-ing my PC to Linux. Maybe I'll get a separate drive to fuck around with it. My major issue is the fact that most of my workflow has revolved around data structured for a Windows environment ;-;
>>384697668
Do video players work?
>>384699552
do it
it is only suffering
>>384701246
No, that's the big catch right now.
There's been active work in the proton vrchat github issue, and it seemed close recently, but still no.
>>384690136
works for me
are you using a Quest?
check for compatibility mode having been enabled on the EXE or the presence of the DecaMove software as both have been known to fuck it up according to steam forums
>>384704580
>No, that's the big catch right now.
That's not even really a huge issue. Neos, a better game, works on Linux natively (iirc) and could serve as a video playing social/sharing platform.
>>384639483
I can't speak on VR vs flat, but I've been playing monitor+Hotas and it's been an absolute blast. I still find it to be very immersive like that but I think the Hotas plays a big part in that.
Absolutely love VR and I think it's the best way to play vehicle-focused games, but my GPU can't handle super-sampling most games, so it's turned into a "Beat Saber machine" since that's one of the few games with visuals I can tolerate for several hours. Can't overstate my disappointment when I found out I couldn't play MFS2020 without it feeling like I had lost my glasses.
>>384652180
Huh, never heard of this. Maybe I need to give it a shot since it takes advantage of AMD upscaling.
>>384692219
Oh shit, this would actually work really well in VR since it's not wildly detailed. Bummer you can't use it unless everyone has the mod.
>>384712082
I'm not sure if I'll go for the mod as a result. No one I know who has a VR headset plays the game. That and I am too used to quick switching weapons with mouse buttons and enjoying the game at max settings at 200+fps with HDR on. That guy is having trouble running the game at lowest settings at ~90fps. I'll give it a couple of missions with Bosco before I return to being able to play with other people. GTFO's mod for instance lets you play with flat players no problems.
>>384712449
Probably won't get resolved, but here's to hoping they can manage to get it working well with flatscreen somehow. The devs are pretty community oriented, maybe they could work with the mod creators.
>>384708450
yeah I know about neos but none of my friends are on it
the video thing only bothers me because I can't participate in the two regular weekday events (dancing\/workout)
>>384711859
give it a shot, it only works on DX11 titles but easy to install, just drop the DLL and config file next to the exe
I'm using the fog distance mod for ITR at 200% and I was getting reprojected frames when looking over long distances before
perfectly smooth now
only visual artifact I noticed was that the cleaning spray on the surface of magazines looked a little weird, like the "rainbow" you see in a puddle of gas
with this installed,
>>384712992
Neos is unironically good, but I am pissed that they haven't added rigid bodies yet.
>>384670530
SteamVR works perfectly fine on VR, and Proton does a decent job of running windows games in VR for linux.
Unironically it works okay; but you'll be missing a few things.
Dont die on me!
>>384688145
man, b&s would've been so fun if the bots didn't just lunge right into your face making combat absolute dogshite. The only reason I refunded it. Hopefully, they will rework it in future.
>>384724031
It worked like garbage for me. My troubleshooting lead me to think it was Radeon drivers or at least my card, though. Do you have an Nvidia card?
>>384716503
I don't think they even baked lighting, and all the scripted stuff is entirely done with ingame node stuff, you can't just open a text editor. There's a lot of things that are nice about it but it's honestly pretty lacking.
>>384738785
Their jumping lunge attack is the absolute worst thing. Everything else is fine but that and how often they use it, is terrible.
>>384739518
>AMD drivers
Yeah that'd do it
>>384739793
the issue is that that's the only attack they were using against me. I couldn't parry, I couldn't keep distance with a spear or something else, they would just jump right into my face every time, either spazzing out, hitting me or getting stuck somewhere, it's just so broken it makes me sad, because the weapon handling is really good (magic is dogshit, though).
>>384711497
Have you played VTOL yet? I think it's got pretty minimal requirements. You can't use your irl hotas with it though
>>384715030

>>384751094
Is triple triad a card game? Alson someone tryied to make a /vrg/ yugioh set, but the balance is probably terrible
>>384752363
yugioh vr would be amazing, but it would require so much work i dont see jewnami ever doing it
>>384756205
I think they should just do the early cards desu. So pre-gx. There's still a lot but wouldn't be nearly that unfeasible.
>>384739518
I have AMD. There was a serious driver issue. VR was pretty much unusable with even the empty steamvr screen having terrible vomit inducing lag.
I think I had to uninstall AMDVLK and things started working but I don't recall exactly.
>>384758534

I never really used magic either but seeing the next update's videos on combining magic and the staff powers, it looks really nice. That said I main fists so enchanting things isn't something do often either. I've got to find or make a mod for a blunt fist weapon that gives me an extra 10cm or so of reach that also has a plate that goes back over the forearm so I can block with it. And now that I actually look on the nexus I have found one. Hopefully it works for the later versions. The mod is 2 years old now.

>>384783034
>just
imagine making duel masters vr without 3d monsters just like in anime that can attack player
on paper duel masters vr looks great, but then you see all those duel masters threads on /v/ and magic is gone
>>384741812
The jump attacks were parryable but the AI used them as a gap closer way too often, it just looked dumb when it happens one after the other.
I have some hope that the new defensive AI combat stance will improve things, I already see less jump attacks in the beta but the AI still has the problem of walking into me. My ultimate hope would be for an AI that can chain together randomly chain together simple swings so parrying requires reaction rather than memorizing the animations.
Anyone got a good list of mode for Fallout and Skyrim VR?
>>384783795
that was some nice missions, good job host!
guys how big of a deal is the zucc on the quest 2?
i'm seeing used Quest 2s for like $150 and want to get into VR. I looked through the info linked in the OP post, vive pros are twice that, and you need the towers and other stuff.
NGL air link sounds amazing. stream games wirelessly to the headset. does this work as advertised?
>>384804589
Wireless has a few hundred milliseconds latency.
>>384804589
I made a fake fb account when I bought it 6 months ago and haven't had issues yet
>>384804840
with a wired connection from PC to router, and a good router could that be lowered?
i'm fine playing corded too not a deal breaker. i just really want to play VTOL VR. it looks so fucking good. that and get back into a little sim racing.
>>384805493
I don't own one myself. I just remember someone trying to play Pavlov with it and the latency was too much.
>>384804840
maybe your shitass machine has
>>384805493
just use wireless and dont worry, but use a cable when playing sims since you get a bit clearer image
>>384794182
>skyrim
FUS is a good starting point
>>384804589
You can bypass the facebook login and strip some of the telemetry out if you really want to, although I think not all of it.
As for wireless, it's fantastic and easily the best feature, other than the price, but you need a good router for it. The first one I tried was sub-500MBs, it was an absolute nightmare. I think gigabit is minimum
Is Legendary Tales any good? B&S has me looking for more physics based combat games beyond arena fighting
>>384688145

>>384809165

How is VTOL VR PvP? I've never played war thunder etc so I might not understand comparisons
>>384812290
actually I played war birds a long time ago but I was like 5 and don't remember anything
What the hell is even going on with this
>>384809165
The real thing it has going for it is the parrying mechanic. It's very clean and satisfying. The force you hit their weapon during an attack determines the window you have to riposte. A light parry will make them stagger backwards out of reach while a heavy parry will leave them right in front of you. There's a cooldown to your weapon's damage so you cannot waggle. Quick hits will do full damage on the first hit then light hits until the cooldown is up. Steady, paced swings are where the real damage is at. There's dismemberment, decaps, stabbing, grappling, throwing, and you can use the bodies or object in the environment to hit enemies too. Enemy attack animations are nicer but the environment (singular) is very samey. It's also made by a korean so it's grindy as all fuck. Legendary weapons are cool but you have to grind crystal loot crate gambling bullshit to get them. In my entire time playing with someone else we found two legendaries.
More arcadey and clean than blade and sorcery but not showy or pretty like blade and sorcery. The dungeon itself is just a series of rooms with switches and doors and the same 4 (+ large magical variant) enemy types throughout. There is not enough variety for me to recommend it as a game but the combat is good enough that I would recommendaspiring vr devs straight up copying itat least trying it. If you're considering trying then refunding keep in mind won't see anything new past the first two floors and the tutorial is extremely long and makes you do it twice in different formats.
how do you pirate Beatsaber dlc? I got the game and most of dlcs but I cant buy them any more, pls respond

Figured I'd mention that I found an application being worked on that let's you install the plugin to your game library on the fly. Even better, it gives you the choice between 3 different plugins so you can test each one out to see what works best.
https://github.com/tappi287/openvr_fsr_app/releases
For whatever reason, only the CAS method seems to make a difference for the games I tested it on, but the FSR plugin has a dramatic improvement.
Just happy I read your post because I couldn't handle what a pain in the ass it's been trying to make anything look decent enough to play on my headset.
Do I really need to spend $65 for a link cable for a quest 2?
Would any USB 3.0 cable work? I'd rather spend $25 on a cable that doesn't need an adapter. I don't see why it wouldn't but honestly I've been fucked on cables before

I have both the Anker USB3 A to C (3 meter) and the VR Cover USB C to C (5 meter) ones. Ankers nice if you don't have a USB3C port on your PC but it wont keep it charged while playing, the one I got from VR Cover does. I bought a cheap $10-20 USB3C card to add to my PC since I had a C header on the board but no actual port for it.

>>385066371
assetto if you like racing, it's usually on sale for like $5. vr support is kind of jank though, have to use menus with your mouse or overlay. if you like traffic and truckin, american/euro truck sim. if you want to go really fast, redout or ballisticNG are wipeout/fzero-style racing.
>>385066371
It's mostly sims, and it's racing rather than driving, but here are things you can try:
>AC
Assetto would be your best shot at getting what you want, because it has everything. It's a mod fiesta, but it has one-click launcher that does all of the modding for you, and then you have access to anything. Comfy big cruise maps, smaller picturesque locations, meme touges, normal race tracks, anything goes. With this amount of content, racing is optional really.
>rf2
Very subjectively, rF2 is the game that carries through car handling the best, it also doesn't sperg out on smallest contact like assetto does. Modding community is also pretty serious
>ACC
Competizione is probably the only truly next-gen racing vidyacurrent-gen now, since ac and rf2 are both from crysis 1 era, so feel free to give it a shot. Amazing audio design, great visuals, good car feels, but zero mods and only gt3/gt4 car classes
>iRacing
If you're specifically into competition and you want to race others, iRacing is the game that delivers more-or-less serious racing, with 20+ driver big races starting every hour, every day.
>LFS
old little simulator, but you might like it if you're still in 'discovering things' phase. It attempts to simulate things that other sims ignore, in LFS you can burn your clutch, you can (iirc) completely fade your brakes, list goes on. Has surprisingly good VR support, i think it was first sim i've ever seen that had completely jank-free 3d mirrors with depth perception in VR
And Dirt Rally 2 for your rally needs.tl;dr assetto
>>385066897
>>385067871
Thanks. I'll pick up Assetto during the Summer sale next month
>>385048235
Yes, with two more players we can get the red disks!
Made a mistake and bought access to the Low-Fi dev build. The environments and atmosphere are incredible but has the creator said whether or not it'll actually encourage interactivity instead of letting your hands clip through everything? It's hard to fathom why this would be the case when the point of the game is to be an immersive experience close to real life. The UI is awful too; can barely navigate through the menus because they're on the edge of my periphery
>meet some guy
>want to play VR with him
>we sort of drift apart
>kind of miss him
sigh
vr makes me want friends irl
>>385066371
>>385067871
Stinky sim racer here; a few other things that should be mentioned
>AC
Goes on sale a bunch. Still has a sizeable modding community behind it letting you drive almost any car you can think of. Great for offline driving and racing against AI, but online is almost entirely nordschleife tourist, monza, and spa. Do not expect high quality multiplayer racing at all unless you find a league.
>ACC
Probably the best game for GT3/GT4 racing. Game looks and sounds great but runs pretty rough. Be prepared to drop your graphics settings a fair bit to keep a playable framerate. Online racing is better than old AC but be prepared to do a lot of monza and spa unless you do the daily ranked race or join a league.
>rF2
By far the best tire model out of every current sim but multiplayer pretty much only exists in leagues.
>iRacing
Your best option for actual clean online racing if you don't want to find a league, as well as being pretty much the only game where you will find populated online oval racing and multiclass racing. Game is expensive as fuck though, requiring you to pay both a subscription and for $10-15 each for cars and tracks. "Special event" races are ran throughout the year, in which real world races are recreated at full race distance and include things like the Daytona 500, Bathurst 12 Hr, 24 Hrs of Le Mans, Nürburgring 24 Hr, and the Indy 500 (which is currently happening this weekend)
>Dirt Rally
Pretty much the only modern rally game with vr support.
>RaceRoom
Fun game that features some cars and tracks you won't find in other games. Great AI and somewhat okay online population. However the game is pretty single core performance dependent, as well as using a kinda confusing f2p monetization system.
F1 2022 will also finally bring VR support to that game series if F1 is your thing.

How accurate is that SteamVR Performance Test thingy??
Been interested in VR for a while but never tried it cause I assumed it would never work with my setup. Ran the test cause I was bored
>Ryzen 5 3600
>Nvidia GTX 1660 Super (6gb vram)
>32 gigs of ram
>somehow am all the right on the "ready for vr" bar

I'd post a screenshot but my results are in french
>>385087214
Just checked the pics on the steam page and apparently "qualité moyenne" is actually "average fidelity" in English, not average quality
>>385066371
Project cars 2 has VR and a career mode, not just online racing
>>385087214
It'll work but won't be great. VR is quite GPU heavy because it's rendering two separate POVs at once - one for each eye. Processor matters also but mostly just for physics stuff (which features a lot in vr games).
>>385094009

AC is pretty bad on a controller yes. I'd call it borderline, we do have one guy who comes to drunk driving on controller but I think that's more of a fun with friends thing. Most sim games are pretty garbage on controller. I recommend Dirt Rally 2 for VR racing on controller.

>>385255523
Nope, I have an index and quest 2. Index grabbing is far superior.
>>385257845
I disagree. It's far less accurate and the finger tracking essentially doesn't work at all. I've had about 6 controllers and every single one has completely different thresholds for proximity.
>>385259007
I disagree with your disagreement. While the finger tracking isn't perfect, it works enough. Finger recalibration works through rolling your fingers. However, the main feature here is the ability to "let go" of your controller and grab stuff as you "would" regularly. This works well even for throwing things in vr. I will admit that it can get sweaty and not as easily equippable and reequippable+other issues, but the natural hand movement certainly provides a more immersive and natural experience.
>>385259746
The rolling fingers has never worked for me. They're always stuck together or won't fully open. It's like kinect full body tracking where it's so imprecise that it detracts more than it adds.
Can we get a mandatory crouch button added to all vrfps games? My knees are already crappy enough without wrecking them trying to crouch behind cover all the time.
>>385264334

Index controllers are dick, I'm not even that anon, I just have at least two functioning brain cells. You can make better finger tracking than an index controller, it is just a matter of if you know how to correctly integrate it into normal VR play. The knuckles do not even correctly do this much, they suck
>>385268937
No. I actually have the inside of a broken grip that shows why it's a potential problem. Your fingers have to align with those numbered squares and if they don't, they can't possibly move independently or accurately.

Yuck.
So anyways when are we getting camera-based finger tracking? I'd like it to track my finger's EXACT position in real time. Like yeah it's cool if it can track my finger as it moves across the controller or leaves it, but I'd like it to be able to determine how far away my finger is and what orientation it's in.
>>385307325
I bought a quest 2 on Saturday and honestly so far the hand tracking is pretty impressive, but the thing won't connect to my fucking computer and that's the whole reason I bought it.
Connected, restarted a few times finally got it to recognize, but attempts to connect in the headset got me 3 dots then it kicked me back to "allow data" and the cycle repeats.
I could see the quest 2 as a USB device, along with 2 other unrecognized devices.

repaired the oculus program on my PC and restarted and now it recognizes the Quest again.
oculus device appears in device manager, and quest 2 is is devices and printers with no other unrecognized devices.
i accidently told it not to show the connect message again, but that's cool i go to quick settings, hit the big connect button and get 3 dots, then it kicks me back to allow data, so it's shutting down then restarting the connection.
i see in my radeon software a small blip in GPU usage so i know it's trying to start up.
USB test shows connection speed at 2.0 to 2.1Gbps, maybe that's an issue, but i've seen others with the same or lower say there's no issue and the software says it's compatible.
any thoughts?

Same. A company like Bungie could actually, you know, make a decent game with their time rather than waste it on half assed Second Life with crypto and NFT shit. The latter is what investors are pining for these days sadly.

You get all of them except for like 3 or 4 for 5 dollars with the season 1-4 pass. Idk i just bought them so i cant give any recommendations

Is it possible to go back from vr fps to flat fps?
I tried today after 2 months exclusive vr gaming, and felt physically sick trying to play an fps on a flat. Like not able to look at the screen while maneuvering with mouse and keyboard.
>>385326484
I had the same experience but I was able to get used to it again after some time.
>>385326484
It helps when all new FPS that come out are flat and you only have so much content in VR. That and it's honestly harder to play shooters in VR. Quakespasm VR is cool especially as most mods work in it, but even the vanilla levels have tricky first person platforming segments that are rough in VR and strafe jumping is just too hard to do with a controller.
>>385311630
>>385317129
got it figured out, had to roll back my radeon driver to a version from 2 fucking years ago. WTF is up with that. works amazing in VTOL. am happy boy.
>>385328837
So afterall normal temporary experience. I was really afraid that my library had become worthless.
>>385330364
Currently hard to tell for me. I feel like fps work better in vr, if done right, the gun play feels more naturally. Harder yes, but more rewarding
>>384712082
Like all mods on mod.io it should automatically download when people join on you, and flat players would be able to join the game too. Admittedly as with every other modded lobby people will be less likely to join you from the server browser, but you can still get people to trickle in. At higher difficulties the game will still spawn enough bugs to make things interesting with only two or three players anyways.
>>385326484
>play pavlov
>line up sights
>shoot
>bullet hits where I'm aiming
>no UI needed
>manual chamber check
>reload basically as fast as my hands can take me
>lean around corners and slowly rise from crouch over barriers
>snatch grenades off the ground and throw them away before they explode
>fine control over throwing arc and strength, and can throw blind around corners
>can dual wield, use off hands, and juggle shit on the fly
>don't have to learn to play piano to do all this stuff, just grab to interact
Flat shooters literally cannot compete. Not that I ever liked the game to begin with but having to deal with bloom and random spread in shooters just makes me want to kill myself now.
How does piracy on the Quest 2 work? I don't mean PCVR games, but standalone Q2 games. I bought a Q2 for my siblings, and they're not PC gamers, so I wanted to load up the Quest with some standalone games. Do I need to hack the headset in some way, or can I just upload the apks to it?
>>385360396
I never really played Counter Strike before Pavlov so I tried CSGO and has an absolutely awful time. I'm not spending years learning autistic counter intuitive mechanics and a million robotic grenade throws to play a video game.
>>385367216
I agree, CS has the gayest shooting mechanics of any FPS I've played. I can't believe the game is still relevant when its shooting is just so awful. One could argue that the current trend of ADS-shooters and modern FPS design has grown stale, but there's a fucking reason why FPSes shifted to that sort of feel in the latter half of the 2000's, because it worked. CS is a relic.
>>385363037
You need to enable dev mode (via the app) and then somewhere in the quest 2 itself enable third party apps (because you won't be installing them via the official store). Look up a guide on how to get sidequest working, that's a legit thing so there's guides for it on youtube but if you get that working piracy should work as well.
As for pirating games, get the free for all launcher from the reddit quest piracy group. It has a massive up to date selection, it installs shit for you and will even offer to update existing pirated games if it detects that there's a newer version available than what you have.
>>385367823
Can all that be done without a Facebook account? I don't have one, and I obviously don't have my siblings' info. I wanted to hack it for them before gifting it to them, but if I need a Facebook account, I'll have to wait until I visit my parents.
>>385368864
You don't need a facebook account, although if you use the exploit then enabling dev mode can be more fiddly, since the option to select the headset can disappear sometimes (because it's not properly connected) and I've had it revert dev mode a few times so I had to turn it back on. No data was lost, but I wasn't able to play the pirated games I had installed until I did it. It's a simple thing, but worth keeping in mind.
>>385367216
Exactly the same thing happened to me. Never played CS prior to vr. Absolutely amazed anyone still let alone ever played that piece of shit.

The better planes on the other hand only had bombs, which I suck at using on moving targets, and unguided missiles which I might as well just use the gunpod instead of because both have an equal chance to make me crash into the water or the boat

>>385417710
I love the touchpads on mine as mapping two or three extra buttons to each is great for some flat game ports. I have dedicated buttons for every weapon in GTFO and every Vivecraft function as a result. I'm trying to get them to be shortcuts in Skyrim VR too but it is a bit trickier.
>>385414139
I know what you mean. It has the same issue as Zone of the Enders where the VR scale is incorrect. That and getting a HOTAS for one game is kind of dumb. Motion controls like Vtol's should be standard.
>>385419220
I tried messing with an old ps3 controller to at least have something playable but sadly it didn't work.
>>385371396
Do you mean the one with the rail guns? The was the one that got me to like it more than Ace Combat 7. There was such a cool feeling about going above the clouds then diving back down into the chaps to get a couple shots in before going back up to fight off a couple aircraft.
The level I recently stopped on (level 9) is my least favorite especially in VR because you have to go through long tunnels and my Hotas is shit at making small, subtle adjustments. Have had to repeat that level so many times
>>385417710
The Index touch pads are probably the worst input on any controller ever. They are too small and are arguably broken on arrival because they never register its full range on input accurately.
hi guys does anyone wanna play contractors zombie mode?

Which is better of the upscaling options you get, FSR, NIS, or CAS? I'm on a 3090, and I usually don't need any kind of upscaling and can play games at least 200% SS in SteamVR, I'm really tired of VaM only getting 40fps no matter which options I choose.
>>385440063
CAS is just sharpening on its own. FSR or NIS would be the way to go. I always notice weird line artifacts with NIS, so I'd go with FSR at 77%.
>>384546269 (OP)

>>385445736
steam summer sale I think?
>>385467805
I played it, it's a pretty game but the actual gameplay is shallow. What it needed instead of an RPG levelling system is to redesign the entire flow and have 'runs' and make it a cringe-ass roguelite with powerups and abilities that can combine.
I'd recommend buying it since you can probably get like 5-10 hours out of it. The start is SUPER slow aids though since it takes a while for the game to actually start throwing mountains of enemies at you.
>>385224635
We gave you plenty of warning.
>>385326484
One of my best experiences with VR was finally being able to use my PC at a desk with a flat monitor again after being basically forced to use VR for I think at least 6 months

>>385529445
Not really the answer you're looking for but maybe consider getting a free voip phone number if you don't wanna give your real phone number out. Google voice is the one I'm familiar with (you just need a gmail account) but I'm sure there are other ones out there too (does texts too, not just calls)

Alright motherfuckers it is that time of the week again. The effects of the summer blues have set in as the do every year, some of us have been thinking of setting up a fund for folks that are air condition deficient. That will not solve the problems of humidity though, as we learn every time, vr has a long way to go if heat knocks it out. No excuse not to work on your model though, some are going to the prom that usually happens this time of year so if you need help with that, post about it or drop by.
The organization of rec room didn't happen due to well, suck at pulling people together, going to talk to the dedicated #1 fan of that game to see if we can pull it together in the next day or so.

I'm no expert, just bought a quest and haven't even tried airlink, but from what I understand a fancy high speed router is required for gaming, with a wired link to the PC for best results.

yes,
for gayms, you need AT LEAST 886mb/s, but you want max, which is 1gb/s, for that you need good router that has it,
even if your router has 5ghz option, doesnt mean it has 1gb/s speed

>>385554802
After having an Index for almost 3 years I'm questioning whether I'm willing to buy a Valve headset again. The controllers are just unacceptably bad.
>>385555037
The Quest 2 is a barely functional piece of fucking shit, it force-updated weeks ago and now every time I turn it on I have to press the power button to turn the screen off and then press the power button again to get into my Guardian selection (it never remembers Guardian zones so I have to redraw it every single time) otherwise it just hangs at a black screen.
>>385555037
It fucking sucks Valve's been so restrictive on the controllers in their ecosystem. Making light house based controllers is apparently difficult as hell to do, especially with joystiicks. I wish so badly there were better, cheaper options than the knuckles for the controllers, but it's that or the Vive wands and fuck touchpads.

I will stand by the assessment that unmodded/very lightly modded skyrim special edition can actually be quite fun and relaxing but skyrim VR NEEDS mods. I used to mod the piss out of skyrim but when Skyrim:SE came out i decided to go back to vanilla and this is why I hold this opinion.
>>385588204
because vrchat is the "replayable" "killer app" of VR
>>385588204
Because this thread isn't a tranny circlejerk. Quality > Quantity.
slow threads arent always bad, desu
What are some must have mods for Blade & Sorcery? I just got it.
>>385588549
I agree 100%. Skyrim VR is just half assed and doesn't meet the standards set for most VR games, with only mods bringing it up there and beyond. On the other hand Skyrim was made to be a flat game from the start so of course it works fine unless you are playing the PS3 version or something.
>>385588549
It took quite a bit of trial and error to diagnose which mods would either not cause the game to launch/crash to desktop upon loading/crash to desktop upon stepping foot in Riverwood, but I think I got a healthy mix of visual mods to make the world look nicer, as well as the essential VR mods link VRIK and PLANCK. Ready to finally start this shit
I just got Skyrim VR, can I just copy this zoomer ecelebs list and then add to it? https://youtu.be/W2cmC4cOFNQ
/esg/ didn't help me.
>>385597330
More or less yeah you can just copy the youtubers. They have alloted more time modding and testing Skyrim VR than most of us here.
Is anyone hosting Whisky Wednesday?
>>385594142
Understand one thing from the start: B&S is a middling tech demo without mods. Period.
To make it playable, at the minimum you want Sectory and Medieval Megapack. Mess around with Sectory settings, if something isn't intuitively named, there's a readme that explains all of it.
There is a beta for Update 11 out right now, but you should stick with the stable U10 for those mods.
No, I won't move the cursor.
I've been stuck with an OG vive for a while now and I'm starting to feel the screendoor pain. I'm looking for a resolutiom/fov upgrade that will cooperate with my steamvr lighthouses and ideally work on linux.
Right now I'm looking at Reverb G2, Vive Pro 2, and Pimax 5k Super. Reverb and pimax are windows only, vive works on linux but has slightly worse displays. All around the same price point.
Is there anything I'm failing to consider about these three?
Quest 2 feels either alright or absolutely horrible to have on, depending on star alignment. Is this the VR burden of having to wear heavy shit on your face, or is the stock strap just that awful?
>>385611454
The stock strap is complete ass. Get a 3rd party one. Don't buy the first party Elite strap it will fall apart.
>>385611628
So literally anything else will work better, or is ali shit just as bad?
>>385560651
via cable, and you know that you dont need a fucking internet for wireless right? you only need local wifi
>>385611715
Pretty much anything that isn't cloth like the original yeah, the plastic support will stop it from feeling like a massive weight pulling down on your face and they are much easier to keep the thing in focus since they aren't drooping. I've seen people recommend Kiwi and Bobo on Amazon, you can probably find the exact same stuff under a different name on Ali but the price difference isn't worth the risk to me.
>>385611454
>heavy
are you a woman or something?
>>385612771
I'm not in a line of work where I wear any headgear, so anything heavier than a cloth hat hits different, especially so poorly fit. To your question, no, anon, you're not finding any dates on here, try the other thread.
>>385612572
>Kiwi and Bobo on Amazon, you can probably find the exact same stuff under a different name on Ali but the price difference isn't worth the risk to me.
the fuck you talking about, arent those just chink shit so its exactly the same but you pay more on amazon?
>>385613579
Alibaba will send you cjink knockoff shit and call it real
>>385613708
just say you never ordered chink shit retard, and guess what even if it would happend (it wont) you get your money back
>>385613579
I literally said you can probably find the same products on Ali you fucking sperg calm down. They are just already cheap on Amazon, the shipping is faster and there is just a lower chance of getting fucked around. I've used Ali before, I wouldn't use it in this case but I'm not your fucking mum I didn't say you aren't allowed to use it.
>>385612572
We don't even have Amazon here and those brands are already Chinese, so Ali's cool, thanks. Expected them to be somewhat cheaper, time to save up.
>>385570112

Bro, I went overseas and back and it kept my guardian zones, wtf are you living in, some sort of high-altitude cosmic ray collector?
>>385614927
You can still get cheaper ones than those, it's just a plastic strap, there's nothing that special about those ones except for maybe build quality so if you can find something cheaper that does the same thing it will be fine.

>>385660568
Yo I can play that game now. I suck a lot though. No promises
>>385660768
It is literally the movement of your hands, though. How does this have more limitations than a flat game where every input is completely abstract?
>>385661153
because its only tracking your hands and head, not your legs and dong, you have half the functionality in VR than you do irl. If you want to get even more granular your fingers arent individually tracked, you wear snow mits instead.
>>385662425
Compared to flat games where nothing is tracked?
>>385663097
Track THIS
*unzips pants*
>>385663867

Woah, are movies the ultimate video game?
>>385662425
But full body tracking, hip tracking and finger tracking all exist, even onahole tracking. You sound poor, but even the Quest 2 has finger tracking.

so skyrim vr is on sale, is it worth getting? I'm probably gonna have to mod the he'll out of it.
i do not
>>385675382
>anon makes joke about penis tracking
>anon 2 adds onto joke
don't be so anal
>>385675652
I would. After mods, it's a competent, fleshed-out VR title, which the platform desperately needs in a sea of arena-fighter tech demos
>>385675652
It's still one of the best VR games once modded. I thought I'd played it to death but still got many hours out of it because the VR perspective is so immersive. It works with the major overhauls like Enderal so if you've never played that it's worth trying in VR.
>>385670498
Doesn't matter. As long as they are tracking and making in game movements related to what you do IRL, you wont be able to achieve the kinds of things you can do in a non VR game. Like you're not going to see a devil may cry game with motion controls
>tfw can't press F to pay respects in VR
>>385681405
Not every game needs to be VR with motiion controls, obviously, but I feel like a game with DMC-like combat could work.
And remember, not everything has to be 1 to 1 with real life movement, and it's easy to immerse yourself if the game handles this well.
>>385683079
I guess I'll believe it when I see it. But most devs seem concerned with making fruitninja clones and climbing games.
>>385681405
>nooo I can't watch my character play animations
>Blade and Sorcery has one of the most revolutionary melee combat systems in VR
>Lead dev is happy to keep game as a glorified arena-fighter tech demo, too scared to flesh out experience into an actual single-player story campaign
This mentality is holding VR back. Yes, the gameplay mechanics are impressive, now make an actual GAME around it.
>>385675652
It's my most played VR game for good reason. Even if you are like most people and have already played the shit out of the base game, there is plenty of good non Todd content like Enderal and Vigilant. It helps that with more recent developments like Planck and parallax textures the visuals and mechanics are better than most made for VR games.
>>385684392
They are making it a "rogue-lite" eventually. But sadly we are never getting a proper Dark Messiah VR as VR devs are too lazy to do proper campaigns and level design.
>>385685009
Stress Level Zero sort of had it, but most of the time they forgot that they needed to have interesting puzzle or traversal sections between level start to level end, until the very end of the game where they suddenly remembered they're meant to be crafting memorable and fun levels.
>>385685009
>>385684392
Roguelite is far better than 'story driven'. A few hours of playability versus hundreds.
>>385684392
We'll get one at some point, weighted combat is not impossible to replicate.
>>385684392
Play Legendary Tales and or Tales of Glory.
>>385685009
With the way blade and sorcery combat is and how you can disarm and pick up , there isn't really an opportunity to make the gear treadmill that roguelikes thrive on. I keep thinking if weapons shattered after prolonged use it would be a good way to keep dynamic looting going. Breaking something on someone in vr is fun too.
Contractors zombies was fun at EU time so I'm planning to host again at 10 pm EST for NA time.
Would anyone be interested? Let me know if its too early or too late!
>>385685791
I don't deny that. But the current "rogue lite" levels that B&S has with dungeons mode are boring as fuck and have none of the environmental interactions you can see in the webm that was posted. Despite being referred to as "dungeons" there aren't even any physics based traps when Oblivion had Havok based traps in 2006.
>>385687919
I'll be there!
>>385687919
I'm down to play. I haven't given the mode a shot yet so I'm interested in seeing how much playtime you can get out of Kowloon+zombies.
>>385685791
You get the same number of levels out of both, it's just that one handcrafts them and the other randomly reorganizes a few bits a trillion times
I tried Arizona Sunshine and this shit game is just an overhyped tech demo from 2016.
I just want PMC Pete to be a full game and have humans instead of wieners as enemies.
>>385660568
That was fun, Wave 21, new record!
The john wick mods for alyx is great for fighting human enemies. AI in that game is retarded and slow though.
>>385684074
I think you miss the point entirely
>>385695205
I wish HL:A's movement and design wasn't so restrictive, I think they went a bit too far when they wanted to make sure that literally 0% of people would get motion sick from their game. For fuck's sake, they almost didn't have direct locomotion until Boneworks proved that it could work just fine
>>385703278
I thought restricting movement made games more immersive, which is why all VR games do it
>>385685009
Hopefully some autistic modder will make a story game out of it. I mean look at that Nehrim mod or whatever it's called for oblivion
How accurate is aim in H3VR? I'd like to try to get some practice in, obviously no recoil without an expensive RL prop but still good to go through the motions.
>>385706403
Closer than a pancake game, but still miles off. Its true that you can train certain things like keeping both eyes open when aiming, and to some degree your ability to point something straight. but a lot doesnt translate. Like pushing the stock into your shoulder or flinching when you shoot. I'd say what it is good for is learning the controls and the overall movement of the gun. Like where to put the magazine or switching from safe to semi/auto and pulling the slide/charging handle.
t. 550 hours in h3vr and shot about 100 rounds from an ar-15
>>385692752
there were basically no complete games until at least 2018. Some which came out before then are better now though, such as games like H3VR and VTOLVR because they're still consistently updated

Oblivion at least was a story game from the start with SureAI just using the framework of the game. Blade & Sorcery is missing all of that hence mods just being extra spells, weapons, and arenas.
>>385695205
Max difficulty in Alyx is mandatory at it increases enemy reaction speed. You have to actually get the jump on enemies to not get hurt yourself.

Knuckles WOULD be the best vr controllers ever made if they didn't have inherent durability and design flaws. Oculus controllers are built like a tank and still manage to give you plenty of control. And after three years, how essential is individual finger tracking?
