Its an easy to use toon shader. It doesn't have as many features as things like poiyomi, but its very easy to set up for people who don't want to tweak forever and will look good in pretty much any lighting. Here's the same set of objects with no matcaps, but basic shading instead. Notice how they were actually being lit from the right, but the first matcap in the previous example made it look like it was being lit from the left. Since matcaps are stretched over the model from the camera's view position, they're completely static and will show the material being lit the same way from every direction.
Also notice that the face is no longer visible, since it was just a normal map that reflected the matcap in different directions.

Most of the time the underwear is just the body mesh that's been cut appropriately and then thickened a bit, so it should be easy to remove the body mesh underneath and re-join the rest of the body and underwear.
You could also make a copy of the body mesh, then bake the texture for the body+underwear to a new body mesh so that the combined texture is transferred.
Either way should give you a nice exposure to different tools used in blender.

Hmm, I'm not sure, though I know in a technical sense how it should work - instead of doing the single drawing-to-the-screen step where the 3d environment is rendered, two drawing steps occur, one with the skybox camera, the other with the player camera.
I don't really use unity, but I'd recommend looking through the documentation, figuring out when the rendering step occurs, and seeing if you can override that to insert your own code, with two rendering steps instead of one.

Yeah.
The example in video is actually atlasing, but it takes the same steps. Only difference is that the "selected to active" is checked. Select the things you wanna bake from first, then select the object to bake into last.
The mesh and material to bake onto should have an image texture created and selected so Blender knows what image to target for baking.

I'm having the weirdest issue with phys bones. So on an avatar I have a chain that dangles from her upper arm and it just hangs and swings around as I move the arm. It looks good and works normally when I just move the arm around.

However if I grab the chain (or someone else does) it goes absolute batshit insane. Like it just starts spinning like crazy and deforming, only when grabbed. I have pull set to 0 so it cannot be stretched out it can only be grabbed and moved around, but it goes nuts. I assume this has to do with the settings but I wouldn't even begin to know what could be causing this..

Here would be my steps.
What you're seeing in the video is texture atlasing, basically taking all the different textures and putting it all on a single image, which is slightly different than what you're doing.
Shift+D to duplicate the body mesh. Then you'd create and assign a new material for the duplicated mesh. Then just bake from old to new, and once the image is made, save the image then use that image as the base texture for the new material.

The issue I see here is that well vrchat runs through proton(Valve's wine). Unity runs natively on linux. And now this will run in wine? That is two prefixes + native nonsense. Unless this tool only touches projects and not actually unity(big doubt). I guess you could install it in your proton prefix for vrchat.

Hopefully we can just continue to use the simple drag and drop unity package. Works as is for me at least...

Though looking at https://vcc.docs.vrchat.com/vpm/cli (not sure about the desktop app) it uses dot net 6. Which to a degree is supported offically on linux (https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/6.0)

So this might actually be a native run tool for linux users. Depending on how thye do git / unity check. I run a appimage of UnityHub and have git in in my /usr/bin ... wonder if that'll work. Worst off seems a lot of it uses json files so making your own tooling...

At its simplest, a unity package (not to be confused with a .unitypackage archive) is just assets under a Packages/ directory instead of under Assets/. So you can still just download or clone their new packages into that dir (and find dependencies yourself). The unity package manager thing presumably also works natively in Linux and does dependency crawling for you. I'm still not sure why vrchat didn't just use that instead of their own tool.

they're pretty good and make a notable difference.
obvious disclaimer that you should only use "Fix Model" on MMD models and all that, don't use it on booths or most other gamerips. works pretty nicely on XPS/XNALara models though
i will say that i don't trust any of feilen's work, that includes CATS bake and the automatic twist bone feature. just don't use those please. making twist bones manually is the easiest thing ever as long as you're on Blender 2.79, 2.93 or 3.1.

if the MMD already has twist bones you only need to do the Unity part. the blender part doesn't have to be done.

Just played Morrowind in VR as well as the OG Wolfenstein (RtCW), both are fucking amazing in VR, I didn't expect that a mod for a non-VR game could be much more immersive and fluid than an actual VR game.
