OH MY FUCKING GOD!!! I just got my presciption lenses thingy and—being new to VR—I was unimpressed. I found it blurry and uncomfortable so I barely used it while waiting for the lenses to arrive. I just put them and removed my glasses spacer and it's like night and day: the headset is comfortable and it fits and the blur is gone. I can't definitlely see myself using VR a lot more. Glasses bros, I can't recommend it enough; I cannot imagine going back

For the first time ever we're hosting a CM contest. Record a short commercial about whatever you want i.e. some kind of product (real or fake), event, cause you feel strongly about, etc and we'll play it at the show. Please keep it under 60 seconds (30 ideally).

-STEP!! (Million Live) - This year the ALLSTARS show, a large group performance with as many people from /vrg/ as we can get, has been upgraded into the Million Live show. It will be a music video made with canned animations to better include those from different time zones. The goal is to have EVERYBODY or as close to that as we can get. This year’s song is the Idolm@ster classic “GO MY WAY!!!” with a costume that will hopefully fit the cool/cute theme the thread voted for. To participate all you have to do is submit your vocals for the song and a unity package of your model in the group costume to the organizer.

-JUMP!!! (/vrg/ Idol Festa) – The main event! A glorified karaoke contest where /vrg/’s top idols (this could be you!) will compete against each other live on stage in a gigantic clash of singing, dancing and fashion. You can enter as a solo contestant or get your friends together and jam out as a team to your favorite tunes.

The date for the main JUMP!!! phase will be announced later. You're free to participate in as many or few of these as you want.

I haven't used it myself. I spoke with someone who used it once. They told me it was a bit more shaky and inaccurate in terms of tracking vs vive trackers but that they were optimistic about the future of it. They said it was a great alternative for a mobile or non-lighthouse setup and that it was a lot less hassle to put on.

Contact lenses are pretty cool too.

Just remember never to use your full prescription; if your eyes get strained wearing your glasses when using your computer, they will get strained in VR too.

My full prescription is -4.25, but my lenses for VR are -3.0 and could honestly still be weaker.

Glasses or contact lenses, keeping your eyes focused on something real close while wearing distance glasses will murder your eyes.

I use a Quest and Vive, both apparently with a focal distance of only 1.3m.
The Index on the other hand sits at 2m, so using your full prescription might be there.

I'm so glad I don't have to wear glasses, but I have worse eye tension than anyone.

The CATS "fix materials" can usually make them look correct.

What Quest allowed is for some of those previous devs to survive. In the end, 2016 tier VR was not ready on a hardware level, and the devs were not ready on a skill level. I can't for the life of me understand how gesture playable layer works.
I imported fbx with bunch of animations, all of which contain only transforms only for non-humanoid bones. I created animation controller with first layer empty and with mask, the second layer is my state machine. If I put that controller on gesture playable layer, as I should, nothing works. If I put the same exact controller in FX layer slot, which is absolutely wrong according to docs, it works flawlessly. All the other layers are set to default. As this controller works on FX layer, I assume that masks and layer weights are all set correctly.
Is there something special about animations on gesture layer?

It's absolutely great. It's still janky, so it depends on what you're looking for, but if you're good with jank, you might end up loving it. Current version of the game has base with quests, item shop, and your personal barrack, and this is exactly what takes the game from turd to near goty for me. This is exactly what i wanted all along: being able to spend half an hour in the base, just cleaning weapons, filling up mags, organizing your stuff, cleaning loot with toothbrush and wd40 to sell it, trying to prepare for the next mission, knowing that my effort is going to pay off once i walk into danger again. Shooting is fun, gun variety is decent due to how up close and personal you get with each weapon as you own it and learn to use it effectively, and enemies later through game can actually bring some challenge into the mix. "main" questline constantly pulls you through new areas, and sometimes even involves basic puzzle of sorts despite quests being kill/deliver most of the time. There is also some incentive to explore and move forward, as game leaves nature of the zone as a mystery until the end and only hints at all kinds of things through your playthrough.
