For the OG Vive a 3060 would probably do a pretty good job, though bear in mind the mobile version is always weaker than its desktop counterpart.

The OG Vive is significantly lower resolution than modern headsets ( Vive pro, Quest1/2, Index ), so it requires far less grunt to run at adequate framerates.

Forcibly changing my sleep hours so I could hang out with asians is proving to be very difficult.

Just the amount of innovation alone is enough for me. Yes sometimes you need to wade through some poorly made wave shooters but when a game offers something new and unique and is made for VR in the RIGHT way? It is a thing to behold... I still spend a lot of time in flat games and most of that is playing indie games because most AAA studios are just not making anything new. Whereas for the most part, when you start a new VR game up there's always something unique going on

"How have they used VR to make this game special?" is one of the first things I ask myself and even when sometimes the game itself isn't the best, I appreciate the creativity gone into it.
Some people just need to find that one game that makes them say "Yes. Ok NOW I get it" because it's probably already out

I am trying to make an unique game right now. A firefighter arcade style game game with AAA graphics. Crazy Taxi is inspiration. It is starting to be fun, but taking me 8 hours a day to develop and guessing will not make money on it. Still the part of making something cool and new keeps me going. Last time I tried Vive's wireless thingy was a few years ago and I had massively reduced fps. Some people swear by it though and use it, especially vr dancers and stuff. I was able to get a full refund on mine since I ordered it through amazon, so if you have the money you should probably give it a try and if it sucks for you like it did for me, just get your money back.

The thing about raymarching is that it's quite expensive on your GPU and takes up a lot of work per pixel. The more of your screen it fills up, the more work your GPU has to do. Most raymarched shaders take up a lot of frametime as a result.

As the other poster says, you could try to buy a booth base, buy clothes, hairstyles and make your own custom. You can do everything on Unity, and if you want to push it a bit more, you can try Blender and modify other things.

Who are you to decide if the group needs to fracture? It does fracture when it wants to be, for example, there are small events that the various groups do that do cater to the smaller group's interests. I wonder how many newbies and those in publics use TDA because that's all they found and didn't know what else was out there, and how many really did see everything but still chose to use TDA.

Personally, when I first started playing, TDAs immediately looked ugly. Not necessarily the base model, but the average TDA avatar had a bunch of bad choices with clothing, shaders, accessories, and other extra bits that were just out of place. Even if those uploaders used a different base, it still would've been immediately ugly to me. So I searched around for different better avatars in publics and never once wore a TDA because of how bad they looked. That was before I learned how to throw together avatars myself.

So when I see a TDA user, I really question whether they have any sense of aesthetics or respect for themselves not to use something so ugly.
