I want to die in my sleep and wake up in a VR game universe.
I'm putting together a rentry for Skyrim VR to explain how to set it up, the status of popular mods and tools in it, and VR specific recommendations and quirks. I'm staying away from general mod recommendations as those have been done a trillion times already. Do you guys have any specific questions that you would want answered in a FAQ?
https://gitlab.com/znixian/OpenOVR/-/tree/openxr#downloading-and-installation
https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/
OP put these in the OP you cockhole. Nobody on WMR should be using SteamVR.

>exclaimation point eyes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAAMeVeRlFc The Deep Rock mod finally got proper pickaxe usage.
>bought and played some After The Fall yesterday

>give it another shot today
>one guy joins my party
>he's real nice and we have an ok time, but its hist first match and he dislikes the game as well
>we add eachother on steam, agree to refund the game and play Arizona Sunshine and Pavlov tommorow instead
it all worked out
>>392608091
arizona sunshine is a very dated game, i would watch out

Can I install any mod I find on nexus to the vr version
Recommended mods/mod lists
Most importantly how to set up the lewd vr mods and which are best/compatibility with other mods

I played it back in 2017 and enjoyed it.

Whats better Pavlov Quest 2 or Pavlov PCVR?
>>392610115
Depends on your tolerance for 12 years old.
>>392610218
Cope, PCVR is full of them
>>392610392
You're delusional if you think the ratio is similar.
>>392610392
only in TTT which why the fuck are you playing that
My little brother has been begging me to install some noclip mod for gorilla tag on his oculus.
How do I do it.
I already made a dev account for the quest 2. Is it like using melon loader.
>>392608091
The game gets fun when you're given a god tier weapon by a kind player farming Nightmare. And then immediately stops being fun again when you lose it because the game glitches out.
I don't know how the fuck such a vital bug like that can still be a problem so long after launch.
The population of quest 2 Pavlov compared to pcvr is embarrassing, pcvr dead as fuck
>>392616717
pcvr population is surprisingly decent, but it was never going to come close to oculus.
how is oculus pavlov anyway?
>>392616717
If you're just playing the Call of Duty zombie map mods then it's not too hard to find enough to fill a lobby of 4. But for regular game modes it can be a bit dicey.
>>392617686
I haven't played since the latest big update, which supposedly addressed some major issues, such as the lack of scopes, but it fucking sucked. Graphics were bad, mod selection was bad, had to join public servers and hope one had your mode in rotation instead of being able to make your own, and quest kiddies everywhere.
Want to play through fallout 4 can someone redpill me on the vr scene? Will mods fix it and make it immersive?
>>392616717
Don't care, I'd rather play VR games running at their full potential being rendered by my GPU rather than being gimped graphically and mechanically to be able to run on whatever piddly mobileshit the Quest 2 natively runs.
>>392585087 (Cross-thread)
Being european
>>392596113 (OP)
Jesus I stopped to fap so many times while playing this game. It's nothing more than a light bit of fan service but somehow it really got to me
>>392596113 (OP)
What game?
Question
Anyone that has made their own avatar/ what made you finally decide on a design that you like
Do not respond if you crossdress or masturbate
>>392628885
I made my own avatar to crossdress and masturbate
>>392628885
Wrong general
>>392619742
The bigger factor for me is screaming kids. Those motherfuckers invade any game with crossplay. Echo Arena went from GOAT to unplayable for me overnight. At least Pavlov doesn't have cross play which makes it the better game of the two versions in my eyes.
>>392618912
Mods have made things a lot better lately. FRIK and its recommended mods help things a lot. You can even get proper scopes with See Through Scopes and Better Scopes VR, to complement weapon two handing that FRIK adds. There's also Kabuto VR which adds immersive in-power armor UI which feels really cool to use. I think it's worth whatever a CD key goes for.
>>392628885
I crossdress and masturbate!
Mothergunship Forge is ludo tbqh. Clusterfuck gun optimization as you try to stay above water wave after wave is FUN. Having co-op really sets it above most of these VR rogue-lites for me.
>>392627952
Gal Gun 2. Worth it for the sale price in my opinion.
>>392625929
It gets better if you install mods for it. Making the jelly outfits actually translucent is arousing as it is immersive.
>Get Shadow Legend cause bhaptics mod looks great for it and gameplay seems cool
>Install MelonLoader for the mod
>Makes my hands disappear so I literally cannot get past the main menu
>Try every combination of versions
>Still won't work
For fuck's sake. I don't suppose anyone's gotten the game to work with Melonloader and I'm just being retarded?
>>392629649
the level of violence has increased
anyone play master bladesmith?
>>392635856
It's even more FUN when you stack 4 different +1 bounce connectors on top of each other so your shotgun pellets can keep moving forever. That said it can get physically difficult to reach the guns at the end of the chain at a point.
>>392630213
Pero pero pero pero pero pero
So I tried undead citadel. Pretty disappointing. Has that laggy interpolated feel to the movement and the weapons so you're constantly running into situations where you go to forcefully swing an axe and it just registers as a light tap on the head. Don't know why devs keep doing this. I would rather have functional melee combat that doesn't fucking break every 5 seconds than "smooth" movement that only looks good for a trailer perspective.
This is why B&S gets it right. Even Battle Talent isn't as bad as this. Walking Dead is okay, but it's especially frustrating in that game to be on your last leg surrounded by zombies and NOT HAVE YOUR FUCKING MELEE WEAPONS WORK.
>>392646758
>but it's especially frustrating in that game to be on your last leg surrounded by zombies and NOT HAVE YOUR FUCKING MELEE WEAPONS WORK.
skill issue
>>392637865
Yeah. Bought it last year and played for more hours than I could refund. Wouldn't recommend. It's basically two halves of two different games. Shitty beat saber to grind xp points so you can actually succeed in the random chance of failure skill checks when you're making weapons. Weapons just have different durability that lets you play that shitty beat saber for longer. If the crafting was skill based instead of having a success chance and it was attached to a dungeon crawler or something instead, it would be much better.
Anyone got Green Hell VR? Is it worth it? I played the demo and liked it, reminded me of The Forest. Remember the demo had some issues though. Like grabbing things from your hips, accidentally placing things on your hips and some stuff like that. Has that been fixed?
>>392646982
>skill issue
Nah. I get that melee weapons are hard to get right and there's a reason Valve didn't bother for Alyx but this interpolation and "weight" physics shit exacerbates shit melee systems. Boneworks has these problems as well.
>>392647836
Doesn't B&S have weighted weapons too? Not the guy you are replying too, but I haven't tried Undead Citadel and want to know what the big differences the game has are.
>>392615316
Gacha l4d system was a mistake.
Great game ruined by gacha farming.

Fucking hell, it will mean another year without content at all, as it really leaves me conflicted.
>>392665593
I'm still undecided on buying it.
Anybody have one of these halo-ish straps for the index and can comment on if it's worth it? I'm tempted to get one to keep the pressure off my forehead and cheekbones. Or maybe just make one myself considering how simple it is. https://www.studioformcreative.com/product-page/index-apache-strap

What is going on with performance? I just got my HP Reverb G2 and tried Wingman VR. I already set SteamVR to 50% and all settings to Mid/Low and Rendering to 50%. Performance is absolutely dogshit. The GPU (RTX2070S) is at 50-80% and I still only get like 60-80fps. CPU is basically bored as well (R5 3600) at 20-40%.
>>392665593

>>392694851

This is all cores right? You're CPU limited, not enough single thread oomph, VR is pretty demanding.
>>392694851
Wingman is not very well optimized. I'd stick to something like VTOL VR instead.
>>392695303
There is no point speculating. The retard didn't even post the framegraph completely and we suppose to just guess. There is literally no useful information in that post.
>>392596113 (OP)
how's no man sky in VR?
>>392694851
Unironically try rendering at a bit higher, but not significantly, res so you're more GPU bound. The lower resolution you go the more CPU limited you are. You're rendering at 50% SteamVR(Which is far below what you should be) and then 50% render resolution in Project Wingman's options too? You're at quarter res that way and your CPU is going to really hold you back with how PW isn't that well optimized.
Also use the VRPerfkit for FSR and FFR. Helps a lot with that game, gave me literally 40% performance, largest uplift I got out of any other game.
>>392686571
>>392686571

I really hope indie shitters at least do the bare minimum to utilize dynamic foveated rendering on psvr2 otherwise it's just gonna be the equivalent of running on an rx6700 wheras it could in theory do way better with eye tracking + foveated rendering combo.

Please await my VR kusoge warmly.
I'm still not sure foveated rendering can even work with the level of tech that will be in the next gen headsets.
Eyes are very fast, you need very low latency eye tracking.
I've read Varjo api reference for eye tracking, it should be technically possible, but i'm not sure performance is actually decent or artifacts are still visible and 25ms of latency is not good enough.
>unity
I wouldn't even bother downloading your shit.
>>392699563
Might be ok because you're basically blind while your eyes are moving. I'm more worried about the variable focus that future headsets are planning
>>392699978
I am afraid that what we will get is "you move your eyes, see low res picture, and then, 4-5frames later, the picture becomes clear", similar LOD pop-in, and I personally absolutely hate that effect.
>>392699563
I've tried some of them and they absolutely can work. Been pretty impressive from what I have seen. It's not noticeable when done well.
>>392699563
Low FOV+fixed foveated rendering with vperftoolkit is SOVL(many years of wearing glasses seems like reduced my FOV, i used to wear small glasses)

>>392701504

Not too sure what exactly you want elaboration on, it just works? You don't notice it when it's properly done and it's not an issue where you move your eyes and then physically see the circle trying to catch up with it. It follows your eyes fairly seamlessly. I've tried Varjo's once, don't own one, and used Pimax's with heavily modified custom firmware. Low latency and accurate eye tracking is completely possible, hell it's already used quite extensively on the enterprise sphere to great results. It simply hasn't made its way to consumer headsets on a wide spread basis yet.

How much time before i get somewhat good at VR aiming ?
>>392714460
A bit. I won't lie to you anon, it's gonna be a week or two or three, but on the bright side it usually clicks very suddenly - and then you just go straight from zero to hero, or at least from zero to having some frags. Try training on bots maybe, it's a bit misleading because bots let you aim for hours before they bother reacting, but I feel like it's a good introductory course to get a hang of this general idea of aiming and shooting pre-emptively.
I was playing for years, but very casually. Recently i wasn't doing very well, and just yesterday I've noticed that I'm no longer aiming while shooting. I was aiming before shooting, but right at the moment i started taking the first shot, i was switching to a weird kind of hipfire with rifle next to my face. Put some conscious effort into doing it right, i suddenly went from liability to upper part of the scoreboard. It just clicks, and in the same way it clicked when I started getting frags for the first time in the game.
>>392714460

>>392716050

>>392628885
Wrong general but I kind of designed it after myself and then added some features that I thought looked cool. Knew the vibe I was going for and then took that into account when designing the outfits and expressions. It was going to be me piloting the thing, after all.
It took me more than a year to go from coming up with the design (changed it multiple times throughout the entire process) to actually learning how to use blender and unity to create it.
>>392654862
You can do it anon, even if it turns out looking bad it'll be your own creation. Post it if you can, I love seeing unfinished works. picrel consists of my first couple of doodles with my space/pilot suit
>>392714460
Just holding your arms steady enough is a skill that takes a while to develop. You can use the virtual stock option if you're really shaky but in my opinion it's more fun to play without. It's also useful if you want to figure out how to line up each weapon's iron sights, particularly awkward ones like the AKM or revolver.
There's a good shooting range custom map with adjustable target speed and size that was extremely helpful for me, for medium to long range train with this map. For short range practice point shooting against bots on a small map or in TDM servers.
Also your aim and even recoil control don't need to be the best to get kills. Mine can be pretty shitty at times but I try to make up for it with map knowledge, awareness, noise control and teamwork.
>>392718775
You absolutely need good aim even if I get a few body shots in the fag I'm shooting just aimbots directly to my head and instadead
What the fuck how do you adjust your fucking height in Steam VR ? I can't grab shit from the ground. Every tutorial is outdated and i can't complete the steam VR room thingy for some reason. It's driving me nuts
>>392719872
Get OVR advanced settings, a free app, and recalibrate your floor.
>>392719872
install ovr advanced settings and use the playspace drag to make small corrections.
>>392719331
You need to stack the deck in your favor when you don't think you can win an aim battle just like you would with a weaker weapon. Shoot them in the back, blind them with a flashbang, catch them in a crossfire, fight from heavy cover, hold a difficult to predict position etc.
Most importantly, don't stop moving unless you're hiding or have a strong position. You want to be the one getting the peekers netcode advantage.
>>392719331
Lead with grenades. Most maps have places where people will always meet at a certain time. Learn to airburst a grenade right on that spot at just the right time. Otherwise lead with a flashbang and cover long hallways with smoke.
i do wish solo had more stages. maybe nightmare mode will be better

>Not the guy you are replying too, but I haven't tried Undead Citadel and want to know what the big differences the game has are.
I've played pretty much every decent game that does melee combat so far. In "theory" it kind of makes sense in something like Walking Dead S&S were you pick up an axe and suddenly your movement is delayed to simulate that the axe is heavy and your limbs are struggling with that weight. However, artificially slowing down your movements in game for the sake of "realism" is just fucking annoying. Especially when it exacerbates the already occasionally wonky hit detection system. Before I picked up any weapons in Undead Citadel my in game hands didn't match up with my real movements. Again, it feels fucking shit to be artificially slowed down in melee combat when you absolutely know the tracking can keep up when running 120hz/120fps.
>>392730145
Doesn't Blade & Sorcery already do that? I certainly can't move a claymore around as fast as I can a dagger there. Same with Until You Fall. Is Undead Citadel that much worse? I thought that they had advertised it with 1:1 hand movement as one of its main points.
Why do I have to hedge all my bets on fucking Sony to save VR!?!?

>Doesn't Blade & Sorcery already do that?
To a lesser extent, otherwise you would see more people bitching about it. I play B&S semi regularly and I can pull off fast movements with most weapons to the point where it doesn't bother me. Same with Until You Fall. The point is that something felt off about Undead Citadel right away and I think it has to do with heavy interpolation on the movement so that it doesn't look jank in trailers or if you swing your arms around too fast. The downside to this is that it feels delayed as fuck and can cause your in-game movements to lag behind out of sync with your real life movements and this effects the force at which you swing melee weapons. If I swing an axe really fast and forcefully but the game doesn't keep up, it's going to get confused and drop inputs if I've already physically completed my swinging arc but it lags behind in game.
It's not unplayable, but it was definitely the most sluggish feeling hand movement and melee combat out of anything I've played. I wouldn't buy it in this stage because it just felt like another physics wave clearer with some sluggish combat to me. Maybe the campaign will have more to it.

>so that it doesn't look jank in trailers
It's arguably does the opposite, short swings look pathetically weak when slowed down too much.
>>392733097
Did we play the same game? Weapons didn't feel any slower than they do in other games. It certainly has some issues like have somehow worse performance than B&S and the dumb spins zombies sometime do (Showcased well by >>392737515) but I didn't feel that there was too much stopping me from smashing heads and impaling dudes as I pleased unless they had armor or a shield.
>>392722790
It's one thing that disappoints me about a lot of these VR rogue-lites. The sheer lack of variety which really makes repeating the same levels quite samey. I just want a procedural VRRPG with Tales of Maj'Eyal levels of variety.
I just bought VTOL vr after seeing it posted here a lot. what am I in for? Do I need a flight stick or will my two quest controllers be fine? Can I 3d print one? Is the game fun?
>>392739121
>Tales of Maj'Eyal levels of variety.
That's funny because I remember getting tired of ToME after 50 hours because it felt like I was always doing the same shit every playthrough.
>>392739347
You can't use a flight stick, it's all motion controls. Yeah it's fun, the solo missions have tutorials to teach you the basics pretty well. Lobbies are hosted here regularly at the moment if you want to join.
>>392716285
It steadies your aim by anchoring the gun to your shoulder, sure, but it takes away a lot of freedom of movement if you need to do emergency point-shooting in close quarters, which has saved my life more than a few times.

Bonjour
Playing Enderal VR, and while it's great, there's a really annoying issue I'm having with it that I didn't have with regular Skyrim VR. If the controllers disconnect for whatever reason (batteries run dry, they "time out" if I'm away, or I intentionally disconnect them to use the bathroom/etc) ,the game crashes. I know I didn't have the issue with Skyrim, because I played for really long sessions, and frequently paused and disconnected the controllers if I knew I'd be more than a couple of minutes away.
Is this usual behavior for Enderal that I'm just going to have to live with, or is there a way to fix it?
Currently looking into building a new PC specifically for VR, still torn between Nvidia and AMD GPU, I have been setting up SteamOS purely for gaming since I heard that AMD performs better on Linux based systems.
Is it worth the money and additional heat/power consumption to go with Nvidia or does anyone have AMD and got it to work without stutters?
I am aiming for a stable 90 fps on VR and 60 fps on flat, currently on AMD Ryzen 7 1700 and Radeon RX Vega 56, most games are limited by CPU according to the performance monitor from SteamVR.
I don't need to have maximum graphical quality, just a stable framerate.
>>392773575
Upgrade CPU+motherboard+ram and wait till end of the year for next gen of GPU.
I wouldn't even fall for the ddr5 meme yet, 5800x and dualrank sams-bdie ram should be enough for the next 5 years.
>>392654862
>from scratch
did you know/use blender before?
>>392774649
No, i specifically started blender with no knowledge before that with only goal to make my own avatar.
Took 75 hours for model+rigging using VRM skeleton
I don't go on /vg/ meetups nor do any active business in VRC, so i guess it was the reason why it killed my motivation.
>>392766285
What am I looking at? All of this is fine.
>>392774224
Thank you for the recommendations anon! Time to experience less stutter-y VR
>>392773575
>since I heard that AMD performs better on Linux based systems
*AMD GPUs
Keep in mind Intel GPUs should perform even better on Linux systems.
Agree on that anon words, get better single-core CPU on ddr4. 5800X3D is perfect but expensive, 5600 could be good price/perf especially if you can reuse MOBO
>>392775993
>5600
6 core. Just go for 8 core and forget about CPU for a while.
5800x (not x3d) with 32gb of sams b-die is overall much cheaper than 5800x3d with random ram with basically identical performance.
>>392776312
You don't really need 8 core for gayming, it worth for productivity and compiling though.
x3d is just way better for games, again(though is more expensive)
I had only 1 time when i got OOM with 16gb, it was VRChat club with 60 models and very big map before i disabled custom character animations/models, so going for 32 is again more for productivity
>>392774224
>wait till end of the year for next gen of GPU.
Both AMD and Nvidia are delaying their next generation because of the glut of GPUs they have now. That's why they slashed the MSRP of current cards, they're desperate to sell off current stock.
>>392776865
AMD isn't delaying, nvidia is though.
>>392776598
>You don't really need 8 core for gayming,
Yet. I could start mattering much more once we start getting ports from PSVR2.
>x3d is just way better for games, again(though is more expensive)
Not really, it just offsets bad ram. The reviews you usually see are always suboptimal systems.
5800x3d is not beating 5950x + tweaked dualrank b-die for example.
On the second thought, you might be right actually, 5800x3d is just much easier for average retard, it's just plug-and-play.
>>392777009

I live with my Mom at 31 but at least she leaves me alone.
Big Booty Adventures, while having a ridiculous name and cartoony graphics, is actually a pretty good time, it's also less than five dollars.
The first minute of the trailer is awful, makes the game look totally shit and they need to rework it badly, but keep watching and suddenly they show you what the game is actually about.
It has an interesting movement mechanic (Which is where I assume the name comes from) where in order to move faster you perform squats, not real ones just dipping your ass out rhythmically.
There's a bunch of different weapons and modes, there's arena stuff, obstacle courses, places to just fuck around and have fun. I picked it up on a whim the other day and i've enjoyed it so far.
The default settings for comfort and motion are shit though, make sure you set them correctly first thing you do.

Do I grab Walkabout Mini Golf VR or Blink God?
>>392773575
If you're dead set on Linux then I'd advise an AMD GPU ofc but you at least have to admit to yourself that VR compatibility is far greater on windows especially if you're using a cheaper headset like the quest 2. If you ever change your mind and hop back on windows I would recommend an Nvidia GPU for its extra set of features on windows one being DLSS(and yes it's still far better than FSR and is getting major updates). I personally have had a horrendous experience with my 5700 XT on windows but using it over Linux seemed to solve a lot of the issues I was having but then again I just have to use windows since the creative programs I use are usually paired with a lot of third party plugins which would be a major hassle to setup on Linux. Also what headset are you using? If on quest 2 then don't even think about a seamless experience on Linux. You're gonna have to have a pcvr headset preferably index because of its steamvr support.
>>392811029
See? This is what I'm talking about, WHY ARE THERE SO MANY?? I know it's because no competent indie dev has tried adopting VR and we got left with wannabes but it's all so tiresome.
>>392811029
As for your question, Walkabout, obviously, why would you even consider the literally who with no reviews that's almost stealing the partly stolen game idea from my head?
>>392809336
I hate those asset packs so much. Developing a game is hard but skipping the entire art process by using them makes the game look like cheap shovelware.
There are two good options that developers could take without stepping into realistic graphics.
>Add detail to your textures
Gorilla Tag, Ancient Dungeon etc. stay low poly and don't add much detail but they already look better for it.
>Keep the flat textures but increase the polycount and shade smooth
I can't think of any VR games that do this? https://store.steampowered.com/app/1171980/Neverlooted_Dungeon/ is a WIP flat game that executes it well. The game itself would be a good fit for VR but the smooth simple textures and hard shadows are an appealing style I'd like to see in VR.
Ok, I have been eyeing Skyrim VR because I got all other non shit VR games in this sale.
How annoying is it to mod it so it becomes a good VR game? I.e B&S like interactions?
I don't care in the slightest if an indie bedroom dev uses an asset pack, the graphics are the least important part of a game.
Maybe you were looking for the playstation general? For your high-def blu-ray movies?
>NOOOOOOO why doesn't this person making a video game in their spare time learn how to do art or pay someone to do it for him I can't stand these graphics it's not fair!

>>392816871

>>392814229
I like how modded Skyrim can handle the latter. You keep the same models but to run on favela GPUs you can use an ultra-low res texture pack like pixelrim or ASO. It's how I got the game to run on a 2010 macbook back in the day.

Instead of spending HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS (see: https://syntystore.com ) on ugly unoriginal assets you could put a little effort into looks. I don't know, do 70's vector graphics like Elite, or (true) PS1 style graphics. Mario 64 rocks stock assets like a chap, Phasmophobia too.

NA VTOL tonight at 9pm EDT
Maybe we'll start with training mission at the start.
lobby will be posted at the time
>>392847783
What is there to do in VTOL? Do I need a flight stick to enjoy it?
I actually have a 10 year old MADCATS flight stick that probably isn’t great, would that be useable? This is the first time remembering I have it and could use it for VR
It won’t let me save the pic so I’m just gonna screenshot it
>>392848583
no stick needed buddy
>>392848583
You cant use any HOTAS with VTOL, only pedals are supported. You use your 6 dof controller as the joystick so you can also press the buttons on the MFDs with it. It does take awhile to get used to but its well worth it.
>>392849091
Man there's a TON of people who think you need a hotas for VTOL WV, this is like the 6th or 7th person now. Hopefully it gets around more, I bet at least some people are scared off by thinking it needs one.
>>392848583
oh and there are a lot of mp missions or single player stuff too. getting trained in and flying good takes a good while. weapons are plentiful and well thought out. targets vary in size and armor. really indepth game.
How expensive is Deckard rumored to be? ps5 psvr2 combo will be just under 1k total assuming you can get your hands on either. It would be hard to recommend an Index or even a Deckard at that price point if you can get a mid-high range system and a high spec headset at the same price. The only caveat would be mods and a smaller but growing library.
>>392849993
>ps5 psvr2 combo will be just under 1k
>under 1k
>under
>ps5 is $499.99 alone
wake up, if psvr 2 will be just under 1k alone that might be good
>>392851029
they're most likely not gonna price the headset over 500 tard.
>>392851175
they 100% will, retard
did you even looked at spec? and there is no fucking way they gonna sell it at lost
>>392851297
Why would they not sell at a loss when they have their own platform and get a 30% cut on every sale? Do you really think they dont sell ps5s at a loss?
>>392849993
There is no true rumored price, just pure speculation. While Bradley thinks it's gonna be expensive, I hope it's gonna be cheaper than the Index since it has no lighthouses and a chip just powerful enough to do the split rendering probably, and the developent name is Deckard, and the Deck was cheap, but don't trust me.
>>392851453
>Why would they not sell at lost premium hardware that will bought by maybe 5% of ps5 player base?
hmm i dont know? because it makes 0 sense?
and psvr is not a 'console' like quest 2 and if you think you gonna see as many games on it as on quest 2 then you are just a fool
psvr was $399 ONLY FOR HEADSET, WITHOUT ANY CONTROLLERS
psvr 2 will be 2x that or closer to 1k for sure
I want to get into the matrix and never get out, i don't want to deal with the real world anymore.
>>392851624
There's no doubt that valve could also afford to sell hardware at a loss like they did with the deck but we dont know how low they're willing to go
>>392852163

>>392666771
I made a stupid version of this out of string. It does feel better, pulling the weight off my face and on to my head, even with it concentrated on two tiny threads, and without having to crank the top and back strap so hard. Tying shoes is at the limit of my rope manipulation ability though, so unless I figure out some weird shibari head harness thing, I'll probably just pay the chinks for their neoprene and velcro version.
>>392852003
Sony owns the most vr studios right after Meta. Not only is there gonna be a large amount of first party content but porting pcvr games over would be far easier to do than on the Quest. You're talking about a headset released in 2016 when vr was only perceived as a fad. Even then, it became one of the best selling vr headsets of all time. There's absolutely no doubt psvr2 will be doing massive numbers on a console thats already selling well. Game library could definitely catchup to the Quest in no time. Sony could secure just as many exclusive deals as Meta which isn't actually many. Hybrid games are a big focus with current triple a titles instead of ports of games from 6th gen consoles.
>>392852040
But the Matrix is a static, stagnated mirror of the blandest time period of the world with the same tediums of the reality, specifically because humans can't suffer constant dopamine hits without any hardships to balance it out.

First day of using VR, I sweated a lot on beat saber, then my quest 2 ran out of battery, took a break, played some Visual novel I found on steam, it was cool for the 10-20 mins I played then I went and took a break again, came back, played some VR chat and remembered I'm a social sperg so I just watched people talk silently, also the quest ran out of battery.
>>392863298
I recommend Tetris Effect if you like Tetris, I wasn't sure at the beginning because of the price point but it's easily my favorite Tetris game now. Is Ragnarock any good? I'm watching some videos of it being played and I am into that sort of music but it seems a little more simplistic than something like Beat Sabre, since you just hit the drums right? Direction and shit doesn't matter, you just hit the correct drum at the correct time?

>>392917879
Best damn VR rhythm game there is in my opinion. The default songs are great (But importantly it has custom song support out of the box), the setting is interesting instead of just a void like many rhythm games are and the mechanic of building up your combo charge and then spending it to increase the speed of your boat is deceptively deep; there's a lot of nuance involved in deciding where and when to use your speed boost, as well as which level should you charge it to. Level 2 is faster than level 1 but you can easily chain multiple level 1 boosts together with little downtime and if you fuck up you don't lose nearly as much as you would have if you were holding a L2 waiting for the right moment to burn it.
Someone who uses their combos smartly can beat someone who is hitting almost every note perfectly but not using their combos right.
Being inspired from an anon last thread who got a free vive pro 2, I ordered a RTX 3070 and gonna do the same thing

Playing feels so much better after exercise and motion sickness becomes far less frequent whether or not you're playing seated. You'll find yourself spending a lot more time in the headset as well.
>>393006687
oh i have never felt sick playing cause i grew up going back and forth to Seattle on the ferry plus my dad used to make me go fishing all of the time so my sealegs are in great shape

>>393011570
It's really worth doing new game plus too. I don't even think that you can get the upgrades, much less all of the phone numbers in one run. And all of the routes/endings are worth seeing, especially as you can just skip straight to the story missions.

You WILL play Alyx mods
This mod was okay but it was too easy and also too fucking annoying if you died. There was no quick restart you had to go through the tutorial every time and it was fucking annoying. The enemies needed faster reaction times and you needed to be able to jump right back into the start of the level.
>>393041362
I can't play Alyx period because I have a G2 though.
>>393041601
Shame
>>393041362
I got bored of Alyx mods. It's all the same shit. Enemy variety is lame, only 4 weapons, no vehicles. Alyx is also too damn slow and the teleport sections just ruin it. If it was one thing Boneworks did right it was not appealing to inferior human beings (people who get motion sick). Graphically Alyx looks great though and if you'd combine Boneworks full physics body with Alyx environments it would be 10/10.
Hopefully Bonelab is fun and get a big modding scene after it releases.

Huh. I guess poor start and then Xbox buying off Bethesda really did killed it.

this is exactly the reason why cuckerber will put cameras on the new quest pro controllers
>>393094719
I'm more than happy to fork over cash if they put out high effort VR games, which Valve entirely and honestly Facebook to an extent have dropped the ball on.
>>393081248

>>393048662

>>393096072
I mean quest 2 tracking is very good unless your doing jumping jacks for whatever reason. I'd imagine there will be better inside out tracking solutions like the one you mentioned but that wont be until a few years after psvr2 is out.
>>393096108
Faceberg pulling out of pcvr was unfortunate. They funded some real gems on the oculus store. Im still keeping my quest 2 for san andreas and re4 mercenaries but those will probably mark the end of quest 2s life span. Might try asscreed as well but not too optimistic about that one turning out well. But yeah sony's going balls deep into high effort vr especially hybrid games like re8 and re4 remake. Apparently they're planning for 20 launch titles:
https://www.gamespot.com/articles/psvr-2-will-have-more-than-20-launch-games/1100-6503925/
>>393095972
Man the setup on that thing looks atrocious so many fucking wires. Im kind of speculative about the comfort of the headset since the wire goes through the irrepealable headstrap. I've heard psvr1 is generally comfortable but everyone keeps adjusting the headset in the gameplays I've watched. Never played any of those games as I never had a psvr but astro bot looks really fun hopefully they make a new one for psvr2 since thats the only ip the studio makes anyways.
Mid range console hardware and foveated rendering aside, I'm mostly excited about the eye tracking. Navigating menus and shit will be so much easier when you can just look at a button and blink. It also helps pick out your ipd and actually adjust accordingly. Eye tracked foveated rendering is also gonna be the only way it can punch above ps5 hardware with games like re8. I also saw this other demo that gives you a bit of aim assist when throwing stuff like grenades based on where you're focused on. Lots of shit.
>>393104108
>I'd imagine there will be better inside out tracking solutions like the one you mentioned but that wont be until a few years after psvr2 is out.

Is this confirmed? Also I reiterate the tracking on Quest 2 is already quite good for 99% use cases. It would be very hard to justify cameras on the controllers on top of the 2k per eye oled screen, 110 fov, eye tracking, and headset vibration while also selling at a loss.
>>393105656
>Is this confirmed?
Nothing official yet. But they did say it is releasing this year.
>It would be very hard to justify cameras on the controllers on top of the 2k per eye oled screen, 110 fov, eye tracking, and headset vibration while also selling at a loss.

>runs like absolute dog shit (unity)
>hit registration is a real problem. Hard swings and blocks sometimes don't register which means that enemies do that gay little spin thing and one hit KO you in the horde mode
>has the stupid ass weapon weight system which means that two-handing weapons makes them slightly more responsive to use. Makes the short sword all floaty when one handing by default which is stupid because the hilt isn't big enough to two hand (it can be done, but your other hand places itself in the very bottom of the hilt and looks stupid/impractical, but sure enough it makes the short sword less floaty that way (stupid)
TL;DR: scrap the weapon weight system and tighten up the hit registration. Otherwise it will just be another zombie wave clearer with frustrating melee mechanics.
>>393140731
>more buttons
Manufacturers are too scared to jump the gun and go beyond xbox/playstation parity in terms of buttons/triggers because it just confuses the normies. Personally I would like too see four face buttons on each controller as well. The only do two because they think that any button outside of where you thumb naturally rests will be especially too hard to learn the muscle memory for normies when they've got their vision already obscured. Even if you show them a diagram inside the headset.
>>393140731
Why would they stray away from the industry standard they themselves set? To make devs' lives harder? Anyway, buttons are a crutch, devs should not be given more reasons to not use motion controls.

>>393142858
And why are you blaming unity? Devs should work hard on optimizing their shit in any case, or do you want engines to work like magic?
>>393143616
Brother, there are a lot of flat and vr unity games out there that run like absolute ass and are "finished" products. It's a hurdle to get over and most developers don't bother and that's why their shit gets left in the 2016 tech demo dust bin. The UC dev seems like he knows his shit so I don't think it will be a problem coming up to release but at the moment the demo running like ass is not unsurprising.
>>393143616
NTA but what is the point of unity if you have to work even harder for it to work properly instead of just writing your own engine?
Unity is a beginner trap and unironical cancer.
There is not a single 3d game that uses unity and also run well at the same time. Not a single one. Everything is a buggy shit.

I got this just now and I find it strangely immersive, like my brain is extremely willing to be in an anime world. I'm even tempted to read the protagonist's lines out loud and adlib respond to the VR girls. Help.
>>393147362
Legendary Tales, Elite Dangerous (if you can handle space trucking), cyubeVR, SURV1V3.
>>393147362
Battle Sister only if you're a huge warhammer fan
Derail Valley is cool if you're into hardcore train autism but i'd wait to see if they deliver the big update they talked about
Crunch Element seems kino but i did not play it yet
Legendary Tales will have a big update coming, definitely on top of the list imo
>>393147362
Compound isn't even on sale.

>Elite Dangerous (if you can handle space trucking)
I've seen that game getting shit on a ton since the last DLC or update they did, is it still good?
>>393148207
Last DLC they announced a discontinuation of anything VR related, so no new content with have VR support. All you get is space trucking. They wanted to add first person shooter gameplay instead.
I hate how everything on SteamVR has to go through a server making it laggy as fuck.
>>393148207
>I've seen that game getting shit on a ton since the last DLC or update they did, is it still good?
The version of the game that existed before Odyssey is still available. Everyone just plays that. Complete with VR integration. They screwed the pooch big time but at least you can bypass the cancer and play the old game.
>>393147362
Even on sale Battle Sister isn't really worth it, just pirate it.
>>393148207
Like the other anons have said just play the old version, it's great in VR (though it did kinda give me a headache from reading all the small text on my old WMR headset)
>>393147362
>Legendary Tales
Apparently there's a big content update coming but be prepared for korean gear/stat grinding and build autism.
>Compound
Good vr boomer shooter.
>Contractors
IMO one of the worst multiplayer vr shooters. Guns feel and sound bad, spawn camping is somehow still an issue, graphics aren't great because quest. Also has quest kids unfortunately but that's what they get for going for that market.
>Ancient Dungeon
Real nice roguelike. Plenty of content.
>Crunch Element
The AI is brain dead unfortunately and there's not much content. Great idea but not there yet.
>Vermillion
Actually fantastic if you're into proper painting with real brush physics and such. Has a built in youtube video player if you want to paint along with bob ross.
>>393147362
Derail Valley is euro track sim, but on trains. With full VR "cockpit" controlls, and manual wagon connection, Very nice game.
Also look at Tales of Glory - basically Mount and Blade VR
>>393152348
>Crunch Element
That's one of those ones that's in the danger zone of "don't know if the dev will keep improving this or abandon it". The idea of a co-op room clearer with R6 Siege destruction sounds great, but at the moment it seems like 15 minutes of value and then you never touch it again.

If anyone missed it, doing Pavlov again this sunday at 18 UTC / 2PM EST.
Loadout with be pistols & bolt action + pump shotgun & sawn off.
Deagle, Revolver, tec9, 5-7 and 50Cal will not be in.
Gamemode will be S&D with a game of One In the Chamber thrown in.
See you there.

It's not my fault you can't do a basic CTRL-F search of Skyrim and look through the small amount of results.
But it seems like someone spoonfed you anyway.

Dress up is just getting clothing mods from wherever and using Nether's Follower Framework to set up outfits. In this case the clothes are just Kanrax's Antique Clothes and the gloves are from Osare's Gothic Lolita. Fucking is just Sexlab with the VR patch and the integrated child patch+xxs utility. Planck is nice as you can manhandle NPCs at any point.

I'm not sure about NFF. Worse comes to worse just make an backup and try and see if NFF works. Clothing mods are perfectly safe. I installed the two I mentioned mid save, added them via console commands, and was off to the races.
>>393189274
What about mods for poses?
also thanks.
There's about to be a storm outside, while still being super hot at 10 PM, and I need to close my window, or it's gonna rain on my simrig and my headset while I play. Closing my window meansno fresh air and heat, so uhhh, hello?????
>>393193040
I just use tfc, the playidle command, and a couple of pose packs from Loverslab. I couldn't tell you if there is a more user friendly way to do it with Skyrim VR, sorry.
>>393147391
iktfbro. If only there were other decent anime style VR games with ecchi and everything. Ruinsmagus was so lame in comparison.
good game, also cool quirky scope thingy
Does anyone know how to completely disable voice in Contractors? I want to play some multiplayer shooters but I absolutely under no circumstances want to hear anyone or to talk to them.
>>393198173
I'm open for suggestions for other shooters where voice can be completely disabled as well.
So I finally got my 2.0 base stations for FBT (I have a Q2) since I had issues with 1.0.
So far so good but there is an issue that apparently it's normal. When one of the base stations is not seeing the trackers, the icon in Steam VR turns gray. is it supposed to be like this?
>>393198173
pretty sure you can turn the voice volume to 0 in contractors. you can do it in pavlov at least.

Imagine playing HOMM3 but in VR.
>>393199947

HOMM3 game can take like 10 hours per game easily, and it doesn't get better in VR at all

The trackers are the only thing which can "see" the basestations. So basically steamvr thinks it was shut down, but it shouldn't affect anything.
>>393200907

>>393202074
maybe it runs a bootstrap.
Hm, there is an option to use Bluetooth to controll basestations (power on/off), maybe if you get a bt dongle, steam vr will use it to see that basestation is still up and won't do full reacquisition.
Also, how do you obscure ALL trackers from one basestation at once?

Beat Saber is usually the goto rythm game but it's not on sale and a little overpriced IMO. Ragnarock is actually the better choice if you like metal music and it is on sale.
After The Fall is great if you have VRfriends to co-op with. There are bots but maybe don't bother if you're a loner and unwilling to play pubs or host here.
Unironically VRChat for the minigolf, pool and minigame worlds. If those fuckers would release their minigolf prefab it would be the nail in the coffin for other VR minigolf games.
>>393210879
I am sorry that you feel that way. Is pic related more your style? Not enough wrinkles?
>>393211371
I honestly like Walkabout Mini Golf more than VRChat's mini golf. The physics in VRChat are way too twitchy. While in Walkabout the physics are properly tuned and don't have any of the jank that VRChat worlds have. That said the pool worlds in VRChat are good, as similar to Walkabout it has a bespoke physics system that makes everything work nicely.
