Where does it fall flat?
As I said not very far in. I like the vibe though, feels like a rpg, but I believe it could actually be shit
>>397598235
Eh? It isn't good from the start?
I wouldn't bother playing that game for more than 30 min if it wasn't in vr.
It's just like "fine with friends", not a good sign.
Anyone interested in playing Serious Sam vr sometime?
>>397598347
Hmm okay.
I dont have friends and cant have friends so I gotta take what I can get. This is the cleanest looking and feeling vr game I've played so far.
I'll try it some more later and see if I get really bored

I'd be game. Not played a Serious Sam with others even since the 'Serious Saturdays with /v/' group died. Preferably playing it via SS Fusion since it's the most up to date release, despite its perpetual beta state. It'd also allow desktoppers along if they want to feel gimp amongst dual-wielding VR players

Give yourself a trial by fire. Play an AoT VR game, preferably AoR. Worst case scenario you get a migraine and stop playing it, best case is you're cured!

Well, as long as it's /vrgg/ related..
Has anyone tried the tea for god demo? From what I can tell it looks like the game is designed to actually have you walk around your room and the world is designed in a way to make that possible. I tried it but in area below the minimum space so had to use sticks to move. Using the sticks made it claustrophobic and weird, but I'm wondering if it works well with IRL movement. I want to try it again for longer though to get a real experience with it. The world looks cool and I enjoy the surrealism, but the gameplay seemed like a real slow and cramped corridor shooter. Also any recommendations for mind bending shit.

Any reason why they released such an incomplete game? What's there is polished but it feels like it contains 1/4 of what you'd expect.
>>397687936
I have some sympathy considering they're trying to support 4 or 5 different platforms but progress on new maps has been way too slow and they even wasted dev time making shitty pvp maps.
>>397689053
Keeping the game crossplay with Quest users likely really hampers their workflow also. It's not like they can build a detailed/complex map for PC/PSVR users and then do a dumbed down version for Quest.

And this is the problem with Zuck's influence. When push comes to shove and worklows need to be simplified, devs will always choose the meta ecosystem at this point. Especially if they're being moneyhatted and that's where the majority of sales are. I know that Valve are all hands on deck atm (lol), but they need to be doing more to help the ecosystem instead of developing hardware with skunkworks secrecy and letting Meta eat their lunch.
>>397689770
At one point they were even trying to support the Quest 1. Now Q1 support is indefinitely delayed until it's safe for them to say it's been dropped.
They did do a pretty good job of making the mechanics work considering how gimped the controls for everything is on PSVR.
>>397691891
>At one point they were even trying to support the Quest 1.
I often wonder about the workload for VR devs compared to flat. GOOD flat games are hard enough to make. Making a GOOD VR game is even harder because most of the "gameplay" is how the hand/controller/movement interaction is with the enviroment. Gone are the days where you can slap a bulky headset on someones face and show them a seated experience. The expectation is full-fledged flat game but with complex interaction/movements systems added on top.
To be supporting so many versions
>Quest 2
>Quest 2
>PSVR1/2
>Oculus PC
>Testing on OpenVR/XR/MR
Some of them to have different assets and even hardcore optimization going into them. It sounds nightmarish in terms of workload and the operating costs can't be sustainable with the current economy.
>>397691570
Valve is in secrecy so they don't eat into their own sales of Index units, otherwise people nearly on the fence would just keep waiting.
>>397691891
Quest 1 is basically dead hardware at this point despite only being 2 years old. The performance gulf between it and Quest 2 is hard to ignore as an indie who likely can't do fuck-all for optimizing beyond a basic Unity scene.
I'm just surprised devs still support PSVR despite what a complete headache support its various controllers is, plus its bottlenecked performance relative to a min-spec PCVR rig.
>>397692694
VR is fucking hard simply because of the expectancy to interact with everything. Everything has to be of "close to camera" quality, and gone is the ability to just have a room that looks awesome but is full of static props (possibly with a 'destroyed' model swap) because you have a gun glued to your viewmodel.
>>397692694
Much harder than flat. VR is very new, so you cannot just steal ideas and shit out your "pixelated metrodivania number 589", so you are basically on your own.
>even hardcore optimization going into them.
Almost nobody bothers. The average dev is a fucking ape with enough competence only to press "enable build for X platform" checkbox in unity.
>>397693026
>Valve is in secrecy so they don't eat into their own sales of Index units
I doubt it. They ran into parts sourcing troubles during 2020/2021 and they went out of stock for long periods. The index has had the reputation for a while now of being an overpriced, outdated headset with high RMA issues. Not that it matters to Valve financially, but I doubt the sales are stellar past the launch and 2020. We know that they constantly work with prototypes and file patents, but nobody trusts Valvetime. They could be doing more to fund developers, funding VR projects and telling nvidia to get their shit together for linux drivers on X and Wayland. That's the future of their platform and the Deckard. We know this.
But at the moment it looks like they dropped an expensive high RMA headset and then immediately dipped to go chase switch money.
>>397693530
>Much harder than flat. VR is very new, so you cannot just steal ideas and shit out your "pixelated metrodivania number 589", so you are basically on your own.
Yeah, that's quite an interesting point you make. It seems VR consumers at the moment are a lot more savvy in terms of judging what's a good value proposition for software than the supersaturated flat market. I think this was figured out years ago already when most oculus games launched just shy of full price flat games or less because they rightfully released that just getting people in the door to the platform was a hard enough challenge. Kids and thirdworlders will always flock to apps that are free and don't respect privacy or data, or have ways to monetise users. This will only get worse as platforms like VRchat grow and even as Web3 fuckery evolves. Don't count out all that cryptobro virtual property shit. They'll be back next bull to shill the same shit devoid of tangible value to suckers.
VR development seems like a tough workload. There's a great amount of room to do something truly innovative but it seems like the dev costs are high and the pressure is real. It kind of resembles the flat industry back in 1993 onwards where the entire development paradigm shifted to 3D and suddenly there were a lot of really difficult technical hurdles to solve. A lot of developers hit brick walls and couldn't hack it, but those that did changed the industry. Consumers didn't know/care just how hard it suddenly got because they remain ignorant from those facts. Consumer expectations will always be sky-high and ignorant.
>>397613324
I wish there was an SDK that would let you add your own maps. There needs to be more modding support for the game

Rift S needs a ton of USB bandwidth and power. If you have any USB hubs, RGB peripherals or anything else that draws more than a minimal amount of power from your motherboard it can cause problems as well.
Either move all of your other USB devices over to a powered USB hub or buy a cheap USB PCI card for them. Almost every Rift S problem is a USB problem.
so i finished saints and sinners
jesus what a lackluster ending, when i got that last call to go to the reserve and the game was like "there is no turning back" i assumed, alright here we go the big final mission
so i loaded on a shitload of ammo weapons and supplies and went to install the last pump thing.. literally nobody there.. then i went to the church, i'm not gonna just walk in the middle as some retard, so i walked on the side to the left, where i only had to kill one reclaimed and i was inside the church, then you just have the last convo between may and casey and thats it end of the game.. thats fucking it???
I killed one fucking guy during the grand finale.. i assumed it will be a huge fuckmash of walkers, reclaimed and the tower and that afterwards i will go to the tower and kill shit there too. But nope.. credits just rolled.
I have aftershocks installed which i heard give the game better ending and i am about to play that dlc now. But imagine playing the game when it first came out without the aftershocks dlc.. so disappointing.
also, add a fucking "recycle all junk" button, having to hand recycle 40 fucking items by hand is beyond annoying

>>397613324
I haven't checked out the new layouts since the latest update but for some reason I will always love factory.
>>397813517
I can't see them doing another complete overhaul. Version 2 was created because of how inefficient development was with the single large map.
>>397696214
>I wish there was an SDK that would let you add your own maps. There needs to be more modding support for the game
Agreed. I think the game is getting to a really good point where mod support would give it legs for years and bring a lot of attention to the base game.
>>397817861
With the way the game is set up, having mod support for extra maps would be absolutely crazy. At the back of factory there's a couple of markers like the other zone transitions that doesn't lead anywhere which could probably be used to move to another map. I imagine mod makers would have to fight over which location is used for a transition to their map though.
Is Rift S really that bad as people make it seem to be? Im running mine since 2020 and since that i've only had one issue with headset losing usb connection due to drivers acting up
>>397826987
no, the downsides are just that its basically abandoned and the fixed IPD
i replaced mine with a quest 2 because of the latter
>>397826987
>Is Rift S really that bad as people make it seem to be?
It's not that far off from the Quest 2. I think the panel is slightly lower in res but otherwise very similar. The problems stem from the usb3 connection and Oculus' historically wonky drivers causing audio issues, dropouts, stuttering in headset. I used one in 2019 and 2020 for a bit and when it worked, it was good. But it gave me a lot of problems on X570 and judging by the feedback even a lot of older chipsets.

>>397830864
same here, after 3 weeks the sticks were doing wild shit. support was annoying as fuck, and i havent bugged them (again) about warranty.. because they magically fix themselves, but eventually that wont be the case
>>397830864
Likely dust or dirt on the contacts, very common. Get some electrical contact cleaner spray, there are youtube videos explaining how and where to use it. It's a temporary fix and will need spraying again eventually but it feels like new until then.
>>397830869
They changed the plastic when Quest 1 production ramped up (it's the same controller for both). Oculus recognised that the newer ones were more brittle. This was apparently fixed or possibly it just got swept under the rug by the Quest 2 release. Mine from launch have proven durable against drops and wallstrikes.
The headset does have some clear usability and durability design flaws in my opinion; For one the tightening knob is small, smooth and offers no grip to sweaty hands. The top headstrap is also only connected to the front of the headset by a thin piece of plastic that will shear off if you keep picking it up by the top strap, as mine eventually did.
>>397830864
if the thumbsticks are built anything like the cv1 controllers, you can unscrew the cap on the stick, then pull the membrane up and out of the hole, then you have an open space to clear out the gimbal with compressed air.
t. 5000 hour cv1 controllers with zero drift
Speaking of controller drift, have the index controller drift issues been ironed out at all? I've been meaning to upgrade my OG vive to an index but I live in an unsupported country so I don't want to get caught in RMA hell. Back when I got it the vive controllers were said to be fragile and have their track pads break all the time but mine is almost 5 years old now and has only just developed slight problems with one track pad's click in certain directions. I treat my stuff with care so it's not going to get smashed on things or dropped, I'm just worried about normal use being too much for the thumbsticks.
>>397841165
The thumbsticks are cheaper feeling on my Q2 compared to my CV1, so it's likely a different design.
>>397847490
index drift is caused by cheap plastic components chosen inside the sticks that valve settled on very late in production (EV models have metal parts). The sticks are standardized bits you can get from china so check some fix up guide and get a metal replacement and do it yourself once it's out of warranty. The problem is wear, it will keep happening if you don't replace with better.
>stick drifts to this day
If they ever aren't going to move off the cheap shit, they need to just make them easily user replaced with just a modular connector you can yank out the stick on and snap a new one into place. And this goes for every modern controller.
>>397850039
They are fucking faggots. Simple as.
The stick drift issues were a solved problem even in the previous century, see dreamcast controller.

>>397866302
I would be happy with some wild and silly VR games too honestly.
>>397858793
Listening I guess. It's a refined skill. Each enemy has its own idle and aggro sound so you can make a good judgement about what is around you that way. The spiders used to make a really loud humming noise while they ran but since the 2.0 update don't any more.
>>397858793
The spiders are easy to counter because they make a noise as they approach and you can usually pinpoint what direction they're coming from. If you can spot them before they leap at you then it's pretty easy to dodge their jump and then one tap them with a pistol while they're done. I never bother with melee'ing them because it doesn't work and guarantees me losing hp. You're right about the cops though. The AI on those humanoid enemies with guns is fucking bad. They can literally hit you through walls and glitch around everywhere. The worst is when the game spawns in those soldiers 5-6 meters in front of you while you are doing a mission and they just KO you with rifile spray in 2 seconds flat. There's literally no time to respond or pull out a weapon because they start shooting instantly. It's the stupidest fucking idea ever and makes me wonder why they think that's a good mechanic. It happened to me while I was struggling to climb a ladder because interacting with things in the game is still fucking garbage.

Yeah the AI is incredibly dumb and it's actually kinder than it used to be. In a late 2.0 beta version the devs changed it so mimics fire longer bursts the closer you are, so yes if they're point blank they'll mag dump you but only take pot shots at a distance. So current behavior is a nerf compared to how they used to be.
Previous versions (the one where you couldn't even get the security level to buy AP ammo until you had completed all the main factory missions and earlier) they would just be at almost max fire rate all the time. Distance would just mean more spread so they'd land less bullets. Those mimics were brutal and the rifle mimics were significantly harder than anything seen in before or since. It was borderline unfun.

Headsets don't seem built for airflow. Index has fan mods and there are a few different Quest 2 third party fan addons. Most either only pull air out or don't have enough airflow to do more than just defogging. One does have decent airflow in but apparently it's very noisy. As nice as a smaller headset will be I don't see the heat issues getting better when we're cramming OLED/uOLED, pancake lenses and compute components into such a small space.
Apple actually have a patent for venting panel heat out of the sides of a HMD so hopefully other companies are working on solutions too.
Pic related is the opposite, it suffocates you for immersion.
>>397895796
>Apple actually have a patent for venting panel heat out of the sides of a HMD
I don't know how the vent you patent an airflow design. It's not like they invented magic fans that don't wear out at all or strain with frequent motion.
>>397893173
>you can play quest 2 with bobo head strap without the face cover
Only if you are noselet. Hard plastic gets painful pretty fast.
>>397896207
The patent is for some vents being built into the mount for the panel and heatsink rather than airflow or venting in general however It does show their intent to vent out the sides as far forward as possible.

Pretty sure the game only ever spawns things on tide or mission select, not while you're in there. You should be able to scout an area or at least try to bait them outside a bit. I cleared the kolhoz train yard by shooting around the double doors nearer castle and then running all the way around to the field side and sneaking in. All the main threats left and gave me just enough opportunity to get in and pop the rift before trying to fight the group properly.
>>397932221
>Pretty sure the game only ever spawns things on tide or mission select, not while you're in there.
That's how it's always felt to me, otherwise I'd have quit the game long ago if it regularly pulled the "spawning something just out of range/your current cone of vision" bullshit like some flat games do to hide actual design/enemy spawns.
>>397932221
>Pretty sure the game only ever spawns things on tide or mission select, not while you're in there.
No, it absolutely can spawn in armored soldiers while you're on a mission. It's happened to me 3-4 times. Once when I was picking and hauling the briefcase mission and another time when I was clearing out the Kolkhoz Trainyard for theheadlamp mission where you ride the train cart out of there. I had to reload a save a few times due to fuckery and it seems these spawns are scripted for these more critical story missions. There doesn't seem to be a specific trigger in most cases. It always happens when I bend down to pick up a briefcase or I'm climbing a ladder and and I'll hear a buzz and see a brief flash and an armored ruskie agent has mowed me down all in the span of 2 seconds before I can respond. And that's with full health and armor on normal. It happened while I was clearing an outpost too. I just think it needs tweaking because it's not really fair to anyone on any difficulty to have some enemy spawn out of nowhere with no indication and wipe you out flat before you know it.
There are aspects of the game that don't feel done yet. 9/10 my melee weapons just don't work, they straight up don't register. So they're only useful for throwing. Anomalies can glitch out and have zero indications so you're essentially stepping on a landmine out of nowhere (i think they might have addressed this in a very recent patch).
>>397598512
Any time. Any good modded campaigns that work in VR?

The final mission was disturbingly easy. I had gone full prep time too making tons of bombs and everything, only to kill like three guys while barely sneaking. The post game missions are harder though. The one where you have to open the dummy caches in the middle of the war zone actually forced me to try.
>>397939331
>The post game missions are harder though. The one where you have to open the dummy caches in the middle of the war zone actually forced me to try.
I never got very far into aftershock because the first few missions seemed very lazy of
>go to this zone you've been to a million times and get the cache, then leave
>repeat another 4-5 times
And I was getting sick of the levels by that point.
>>397939575
>And I was getting sick of the levels by that point.
It's why I hope they came up with a more modular map design for the sequel, so they can either randomly generate layouts, or at least open/close extra routes in a given zone so it's not always the same 1-2 streets you're running again and again.
But who am I kidding, it's Quest lead platform this time so it'll probably be more gimped compared to the first game.
>>397940092
>It's why I hope they came up with a more modular map design for the sequel
It's set in the french areas of NAWLIN's so you would think so, but I don't think they've said anything about changing up the level design
>But who am I kidding, it's Quest lead platform this time so it'll probably be more gimped compared to the first game.
Yep. Design has to have parity across versions. With the limited amount of memory it will most likely be sectioned levels again to prevent mem leaks. I tried the Q2 version of playing through the PC version and boy is it pretty shit. Impressive for what it is, but it's like looking at a n64 game with source engine physics.

>The rift still lives. Always locate and kill the rift first, its the only thing that can respawn enemies
I know that's how it should work but I've been nowhere near one and its still happened. When I was clearing that outpost I specifically cleared that rift in the tent and then went to climb the ladder. The top rung wasn't registering and I spent 20 seconds stuck on a ladder desperately trying to get onto the second floor. That's when it happened. So I'm not sure. I have had enemies flickering in and out but very rarely. Have been shot through walls a lot but at least you can kind of expect that coming and work around it.
>>397950965
The lightning sound and flash say there still must have been a rift somewhere. The other way for enemies appearing out of nowhere is those wandering in the fog and specific missions with scripted enemies, else its always the same amount and type of enemies per map, including the bastards wandering in the fog with their tiger rifles

>>397976845
My only real complaint about a Rift S after trying a friend's out (I still use a CV1 here) is that the headset isn't mounted to your face. The whole screen shakes slightly while you move your head since the hinge on the head piece isn't as rigid as it should be.
>>397976776
if you mean pic rel then yeah it works okay.
the controller is a bit shitty. I find that it drifts a lot like 5-6 times within 10 minutes of gameplay.
bear in mind though oculus is no longer supported on gear vr so most games runs a bit wonky and you won't get support from any of the developers anymore.
I'm also on android 10 so it should not be a problem. make sure you get the correct gear vr and oculus app though because there's a "oculus" app and a "oculus gear vr" app.

>>397977961
It's why I worry about getting a Bobo strap for my recent Quest 2 (which feels like more a side-grade to my CV1), since it uses a similar style of halo headstrap, although it uses two points of contact for its mounting mechanism vs. the one Rift-S had.
>>397978165

Macfags tend to get their phones subsidized, so it's just a "part of the monthly fee" thing for them. I don't see standalone VR ever going that route, outside of perhaps apple as well since they're push for AR will likely highly integrate into their phone ecosystem.
For me it isn't so much the Go/Quest1's limited shelf-life, but rather how quickly devs moved on from supporting them. If it weren't for the option of PCVR, Quest1's would be a useless brick for gaming in another year.
>>397978165
>most apple fagbois buys a new phone every year anyway and they costs like 3x of a quest

>>397938450
>ear a buzz and see a brief flash
That's the rift. It's never really explained in the game but they will do that and spawn an enemy. There's always one around critical areas and they can cover a large area for their spawn radius. Example the pervomay train station will have one rift and it'll cover the entire train station and a bit outside it. Meanwhile the blockpost in the same map will just cover that blockpost and a little bit of the street outside it. They can be a couple of different places but each area they cover will only have one at a time. They kind of howl and make a buzzing noise and will set off your detector so you can find them pretty easily. You've gotta make those your first priority though. Sometimes I'll ditch my rifle and ammo in a safe spot just outside a compound I'm about to clear and just dash in light with a pistol and injectors only to take out the rift and get out. Especially in kolhoz where armoured spetz mimics will appear and immediately full auto with their AS Val directly into your testicles. Also yeah melee weapons have a cooldown on them which is really long so if you don't kill in the first hit, you're dead. Machete does more damage than the knife and an overhead down onto the skull of a hollow fragment should kill instantly but you roll the dice there by being within melee range and potentially taking a hit. I always carry one mostly as a fork but I have used it in desperation a couple of times and lived because of it.

is that really it (without spoilers)? so far i just done the first mission in aftershocks and it was disappointing to find out it was literally just generic cache retrieval in a map i was to before several times.
Funny thing is though the cache had like 10 times more loot than you get from the main reserve at the end of the main game.
Also, there is one issue with the difficulty of the game.. it was fun and challenging .. and then i opened the jazzman safe and got the explosive arrows recipe.. pretty early in the game too and in that moment i became GOD. no amount of walkers or human enemies mattered. i could just spam explosive arrows from distance and kill anything with zero issue or skill needed. I had to keep myself from using the boom arrows too much since it would make the game too boring and easy.
I really fucking hope that aftershocks will end up being more than just "go to a map you visited 10 times before, kill people, get cache" .. specially when i don't even need the supplies anyway, i have so much shit piled up in my camp i could single-handedly end the global zombie apocalypse with it. I have huge stockpiles of ammo and mats because i basically never use guns, i always use cleavers and katanas since they are more fun in VR.
But yeah, overall i am dissapointed with the story writing in this game, it is pretty subpar and generic

Why did nobody make a virtual boy emulator for 3DS? There was one that had 1 test build and then was abandoned. Cant wait to get a headset so I can play some virtual boy with this.
Is there a good way for me to setup a thing when you first open your headset so I can add all my stuff from real life so I can just walk around? Thinking of getting a valve index. How long of a cord can you run? It would be cool to run it to different rooms from my house.
>>398184272
Room setup lets you mark out an outline of your playspace so you can draw around objects with it. I have a notch in the corner of mine where the dresser is. Cable is pretty long but not multiple rooms long and you'd need a bunch of extra light houses in each room where the other ones are occluded.
>>398188089
You can play some stuff without the light house things right? Would a main area then go down to the next floor for lighter stuff/casually watching stuff on it. Are there 3rd party longer cables or a way to daisy chain them along? VR Home seems to be what I am looking for exactly.

Most of these probably aren't that new, but:
Everslaught, the VRRPG roguelite that got a handful of updates and suddenly stopped, is getting a Quest 2 exclusive spinoff called Everslaught Invasion, while the base game is still pretty lacking.
No Man's Sky is planning a VR overhaul, though I'm not sure when it's supposed to happen.
VR Chat still has loads of people going to other games, (mainly NeosVR and Chillout VR), but not nearly enough to make either game any fun.
Until You Fall got an update that adds two-handed weapons.
ItR got some patches, no new content, I think.
Beat Saber got two new blocks, and finally got another free song pack, but they didn't retroactively add the special blocks to old songs, so it's hard for vanilla players with few DLC to get any practice in.

>Hellsplit: Arena (Meh campaign and mostly arena fighting)
There are several still in development too. Legendary Tales is playable in early access but I'd hold off for now until it gets more content.

The modern futuristic gun designs look great, even if it's mostly visual it makes a nice change from the same old weapons we get in every VRFPS.
so can you something like virtual desktop in place of the steamvr dashboard? there's a improvement in overall perfomance?

There are dashboard replacements but they're really not any more optimized than steamVR. Just easier to use
>>398558543
Let's speculate how this could fail to deliver.
>>398595103
I could see the biggest issue being the same as Hyper Dash which 's a really fun polished game, but there are only like 5 maps, and the public lobbies are either filled with quest squeakers or ultrasweat esports fags. Pavlov casts a large shadow of getting people to play any other vr fps.
>>398595103
Overpriced, expensive MTX, slow content updates and inability to fix persistent crashes if you go by Hyperdash. There's some butthurt in the Hyperdash playerbase after seeing this announcement because they've been beset by game crashes, servers breaking and netcode issues for so long and now feel abandoned.
I'm still excited for it even if I prefer chaotic games over sweaty 5v5. Hyperdash was good but poorly managed. I think it had the potential to be one of the top Quest 2 games but the price kept them from building the playerbase needed to offset the skill level imbalance. It had some great features like the warmup/celebration rooms, map voting and mutators that I hope to see carry over in some way.
>>398597212
Map count wouldn't be a problem if it really is a R6S type game. It probably won't be as complex with penetrable and destructible walls though.
>>398595103
Costing $60 and nobody buys it
The only other think I can think of is gun handling managing to be even worse than contractors or onward. Part of me wishes Epic would buy Pavlov from daveillz because its gun handling is 100% perfect and needs to come standard with the game engine.
>>398599307
hyperdash's gun handling is fine though very simplistic, no reloads or anything fancy; they might just do that again. It is shocking how dave managed to find such a good point in the design space between full H3 autism and alyx gun-hand. I don't think it's 100% perfect but it's definitely better than contractors.
>>397630465
Wished there was an option to have it like Saints and Sinners where there are already racks for your weapons. Trying to perfectly put weapons in an aesthetic way is tedious.

i'm keeping an eye on this game and read through their posts, they currently have a simple reload system in the game where you grab a magazine from your pouch and insert it near your weapon, kinda like pavlov before the reload animation update

Yes, I connect it as soon as I turn the quest on.
When looking at battery status it still discharges with the battery pack but very slowly.
>I can't decide if I should plug in the battery when the quest is on 100% or low battery
As an example after about 4 hours total time the battery pack is almost empty, the quest was on 70-80%.
So I would always have the battery connected
I can't play VR games that want you to teleport around. Shit is garbage to look at and makes me feel bad.
I think Im just going to do with it what I originally intended and just use it as a HMD (head mounted display) to watch videos and play emulators.

Throwing with high ping was always fucked in contractors. The ball (and grenades) would double jump after ping delay. I figured it was the extra force applied to throwables so you didn't have to throw so hard irl being calculated serverside instead of locally for some retarded reason.
>>398710427
I think this works against the game. While I don't think it should be like Pavlov where you can't even afford a primary sometimes, it would be better if there were some form of progression during the round by gaining more points to spend.
Currently the difference in weapon price is meaningless; what else are you going to spend the points on, if not your primary weapon? Your pistol that rarely, if ever, gets used? Grenades that rarely get used because the inventory is so awkward? Many of the guns are just an optional handicap because they're significantly worse than other options that don't even cost much more. If there were fewer points to spend at the start, a greater variety of weapons would see use.
I don't understand the arbitrary attachment limits, either. Why can this gun take an aimpoint but not a reflex or a holo? I guess its a cheap attempt to differentiate the guns a little, but some of them can take almost every attachment in the game which negates that. I don't think it adds anything of value.
>>398679169
Nta but I got invited today and from my first impressions I'm both impressed and don't get the hype.
Pros:
>The guns sound great
>Guns collide with the environment
>The grenades sound even better and feel good to use
>Loadout system forces you to learn/use grenades so they're always tactially relevant
>The controls, controller positions and interaction snapping all just work (missing some control options but that's forgivable for now)
>Lots of little things to do in the base/waiting room
>Bomb planting minigame is neat
>The IK works and doesn't get in your way like other VR games
Cons:
>The guns have next no recoil even when moving full speed (some will find this a pro)
>Movement speed is high all the time, I don't see any reason to risk lowering your weapon
>Selection of weapons doesn't offer much variety (3 assault rifles, 3 smgs, 2 pistols) they feel extremely samey to me
>There's no eco nor much thought needed for what loadout you choose
>If there's a reason to choose SMGs over rifles I'm not seeing it
>The maps are all ugly but the construction site one is extra soulless
>The map design has an artificial feel where everything is randomly placed to provide blobs of cover and long sightlines
>There's no bomb disarm minigame?
>It crashed twice for me in one hour
It's got the makings of a good game but personally I just don't like the esports speedball style that they're going for. I question where the depth to keep the game fun in the long term is going to come from.
>>398731785
Woah, thanks for the thorough reply. The pros sound nice, but:
>Movement speed is high all the time, I don't see any reason to risk lowering your weapon
>Selection of weapons doesn't offer much variety (3 assault rifles, 3 smgs, 2 pistols) they feel extremely samey to me
>There's no eco nor much thought needed for what loadout you choose
>If there's a reason to choose SMGs over rifles I'm not seeing it
>The maps are all ugly but the construction site one is extra soulless
>The map design has an artificial feel where everything is randomly placed to provide blobs of cover and long sightlines
These are sadly dealbreakers for me. I could've let one or 2 things slide, but that just sounds way too barebones and not thought out at all.
I'll still keep an eye out for it to see what they decide to do with it.
>>398721753
Contractors is worse than pavlov in every way imo. It's just not as good and doesn't bring anything good that is done well. Honestly just the game modes are the only things I like because they're a bit more variety to the usual set pavlov has. It's not enough to make me want to play contractors though because everything else is so much worse.

is Green Hell VR playable yet?
>>398731785
I dunno. I think it's quite a good effort if it can remain focused on the 5v5 counter-strike S&D style gameplay like they say they are. Pavlov is great but it's become so disjointed. There's a million shitty maps and mods now and the 5v5 comp aspect as been lost. It's almost like Pavlov is Garry's Mod now because nobody really plays slow-paced S&D apart from 1-2 constant servers. I think Vail guns might need a bit more recoil as it feels too easy to spray someone down with an SMG and they drop like a sack of potatoes. I think it could find a niche as the prominent pick for competitive VR shooter but there's so many barriers to VR as it is it's too hard to predict anything.
Just to clarify, Jetborne Racing is so dead that there's not even an AI mode to play against? Also VTOL tutorials ended a little abruptly (not sure how to set up jets for what, evasion in general, carrier takeoffs and so on); am I missing something or do I need to go find resources online

Trying to buy and use less in consumables than you'll make back from the mission reward can show you how expensive shit really is and how frugal you're expected to be in that game.

I agree that Pavlov's shift away from SnD has left an opening but I don't think Vail's current design has enough appeal to get enough people in the game and buying skins. For compfags it's not really CS style SnD; There's no eco to strategize around, no recoil to learn and the maps suck. For casuals there's nothing except the low barrier to entry that F2P and no recoil provides. It's a weird spot between the two where I can't see either type of player being satisfied. Hopefully I'm wrong and they will succeed because Pavlov needs competition.

I can play Into the Radius and heavily populated worlds in VRChat without it happening at all but I can't get rid of it in a few I'm really keen on trying.
I've noticed it in Adventure Climb VR, Half Life Alyx and Ruins Magus, do they have anything in common maybe?

any recommendations? I don't have any of those games
>>398911503
No I tore my ACL and meniscus and my tracking is also sub-par, but of course you have to be a hating piece of shit jumping to conclusions for no reason at all. I'd like to see you standing up and playing VR with a torn ACL.
>>398914624
Sounds like a (you) problem.
>>398914837
Sounds like in due time it's gonna be a you problem too.

>fumo teddy bear replacer
I never knew I needed a mod like that
so i'm playing walking dead, finished the main game and now i'm doing aftershocks, and so far i'm kind of dissapointed, is that entire expansion nothing more than fetch quests for caches? basically exactly the same as the regular caches we had before but with more supplies? so far i did 3 caches and it's just all the same, go to an existing map, kill some easy enemies, get supplies and leave. Is there anything else in aftershocks or is this it? Since there is no point in playing it really if yes.
>>398941930
all vr games are hollow
>>398941930
Yeah the extra stuff is just a little bit more cache
i am going to buy the pico 4, hope it comes out soon.
I will use it for standalone, what should i do first? are there free games? Wheren can i watch porn?
>>398942405
welp that sucks.
even the main storyline was kinda meh.. it's just a scavenging simulator and you get few radio messages and shit that server as the main story but there is very little of it.
This would be totally fine for a smaller game but i expected more from an AAA title
>>398942616
no you won't you shitheel
you will wait for deckard like the rest of us, unless you have shit for brains
>>398942850
>deckard
never heard of it. What to expect and when? I don't want to wait that much longer to get into VR i need it. The downside of the pico is that VR chat is not possible standalone now and i wanted to try vr chat.
Normal gaming mostly bores me and i want to flee this fucking world.
>>398942616
Is pico even proven to have good inside-out tracking?
>>398943391
>never heard of it.
Newfag.
>i wanted to try vr chat.
And a dumbass.
>>398943391
The Deckard's release will coincide with Half Life 3's. So never given that Valve has switched attention to portable gaming and outright confirmed a Steam Deck 2 as well. I would get a Pico or a Quest 2 for now, maybe the Quest Pro which Zucc said is coming out in October if you are fine with spending more.
>>398942616
I have neo 3 link and I would NOT recommend it if what you're interested in is standalone only
the store selection is much smaller, oftentimes the games are out of date compared to quest's counterparts, there's no dlc support yet, sometimes the games are in chinese etc, I love my pico for wired PCVR but that's about it
and there's still hardly any info about pico 4
>>398943617
the tracking is on par with quest 2, there's really nothing bad I can say about it
>>398944173
cambria is not intended for gaming it is designed for MR, and it has same shitty small fov as quest 2.
it has shit like high res cameras you don't need for vr, you would be paying for shit you don't need an inferior gaming experience
>>398942645
It's a AA game, no?
>>398944173
First off, it was known from the beginning that they were going to make more Decks, stop parotting the stupid "deck 2 confirmed" shit, that didn't happen.
Second, they are actively working on VR and the Deck is being developed in tandem with the Deckard. SteamVR will use the Deck UI and the Deckard will have the same SteamOS on-board.
Third, Quest Pro is around $15000 and obviously meant for enterprise use.
This. Deckard is coming. Trust the plan.
>>398944173
i'd rather get the pico 4 instead of the quest pro
Never mentioned in /vrgg/
Never mentioned in /vrg/

Currently downloading mods for Skyrim VR and apparently there is a functional multiplayer coop mod compatible with mods. Why does nobody ever mentioned it
>>398948431
Link the mod. I'd be interested but it's probably "subscribe to my Patreon for pre alpha builds tee hee" vaporware.
>>398948431
you mean skyrim together?
>>398948781
Seems free so far. But about 30GB of mods before this one to test it
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/69993
>>398948847
yes, reborn. Most posts claiming it works are from this and last month
BTW has anybody an old per June 2022 version of the unofficial patch for special edition? It seems the newest version doesn't work on Skyrim VR anymore after Bethesda shut down the Launcher, merged all AE and creation kit stuff to steam and the faggot dev spits on VR players
>>398949825
fuck that nigger, i use Purist's Vanilla Patch.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/32371
>>398950336
Not sure if that works. Mods that need ussep refuse to work because ussep wants .esms from AE and the creation kit, Bethesdas grift dlcs. My plan is to get an old ussep and the old versions of mods that need it
VTOL is actually really well made.
>it's too hot for VR yet I'm so cold
Guys I'm dying...
You know what to do.Had to actually close the window for once, bit too cold.
>>398952645
I just wanted to blogpost that I'm sick and almpst passing away.
into the radius is a good game
>>398951618
good luck, that bastard always tries to scrub the older versions off the internet, even archives.
>>398953216
It is, but the horror experience and aim botting mimics can be too much at times, and with mods it becomes too easy, though nothing funnier than storming the factory with a shield and a ppsh with a drum
>>398813008
Use your special beam attack as its charging that big one. It seems to have a really high stagger during that move but to be honest that's only anecdotal to how I won it
You could also try having a super-drink before you go in for the 1up, see if it lets you live.
>>398953934
im willing to tolerate the horror shit, but the mimic policemen can fuck off. that webm was me coming back from collecting my stuff after being sniped by those cunts from 5 miles away. Also, what's up with their AI's detection system? I'm hiding in a boxcar and i physically move my head down, and I hear the AI shuffling outside. I decided to do the same thing again, and they shuffle. Does me rustling against my gear make sound or something?
>>398953691
Hopefully somebody takes the time out of his day to uploads his unupdated file on catbox and link it here
>>398954198
Sealth really doesnt work in this game, and the few times it does the AI is bugged out and does nothing.
>>398954898
you should ask around in /tesg/
>>398948431
Skyrim together explicitly only works on SE rather than LE or VR. TES3MP at least works in VR.
With all of the talk about Skyrim VR, I wonder if anyone will ever get around to un-fucking F4 VR
Playing FROST would be pretty cool like that
>>398957591
this but the forest
Didn't really understand this tutorial. Is the correct way to use the air to ground missiles to move the camera on to the target with the right stick?
new?
i don't have new funny vr images/webms so i'm not making a new thread
>>398956545
thanks
>>398956724
Isn't VR basically just SE?
>Tes3
I wish I managed I got Morrovind VR running. It runs on screen but not in my quest, sad.
>>398965873
VR is forked from an older version of SE, and doesn't work with some address library based stuff, SKSE plugins compiled for SE/AE, and things like the new AE survival mode which is based on modifications to the exe. Skyrim Together along with some mods like Ostim/Osex and Nordic Combat just won't work with VR sadly.
>>398966262
There are VR adress libraries and vr skse, shouldn't it be fairly "easy" to fork skyrim together, at least the basics; netcode is another thing of course
>>398966839
Skyrim Together relies in a lot of the changes made to AE's exe after VR forked off. The devs of Together are fairly active on Discord if you want to ask them about it.
GTFO VR mod is fun, you should try it out.
is the RE2 VR mod passable yet?
>>398953980
I tried using my special beam attack, couldn't seem to get it to work, maybe I'm just not hitting it enough or something afterwards.
