If image in the headset looks blurry but fine on the monitor, increase your rendering resolution!
If you start to feel sick when playing, stop and have a rest. You'll get your VR legs eventually, just don't push it.

I think there's a Halloween Contractors VR update today.

New zombie mode? Too bad the gun play in that game fucking sucks and the sounds are even worse.
VR bump
Bonelab's already 30% off on the Oculus store if you're a user of that family of headsets.
What if Neon Prime really is just another kind of Dota trash
we live... again
why?
>>405297963
the good ones die first
ATT Quest is finally getting close to having the tower climbing update
will this mean PCVR version will get something new or will they now spend their time on trying to make the forest work on Quest, with PCVR getting fuck all?
>>405272680 (OP)
Thank god I don't have to use /vrg/.

Sorry for the technical difficulties, the lobby is back up now, same credentials, with a new host.
>>405299804
99% of players want anyone other than the current team to work on pavlov.
>>405321585
At least it isn't the Onward dev team.
>>405322639
Contractors' devs pretty much btfo Onward when they did their Quest port and it didn't involve gimping the PC client despite cross-play support.
>>405323236
Onward devs knew their game was failing so they made the lowest effort Quest port possible to get their Oculus bucks and dragged the PC version down with it so they didn't have to maintain two versions.
Arizona Sunshine is not very good.
>>405323236
Contractors devs deserve credit for getting Quest/PC crossplay to work using 2 different versions of the same map. Pavlov devs are going to waste time adding Quest crossplay that can only be played on the Quest versions of maps.
>>405324640
It's alright for an early VR release, but it's also laughably short. Especially the 15 minute long DLC they charge $2 for.
>>405322639
Weirdly enough both of them have tried to kill oversize lobbies.
>>405325137
I don't know it just feels like a glorified shooting gallery, but I guess that's normal since you say it was an early release. Shouldn't have tried the good stuff first.
>>405326626
24 player limit for performance reasons is a lot better than 10 player limit for competitive delusions at least.
>>405327827

>greys all over me all of a sudden
Is this your new form of banning?
are there any good in depth swordfighting games that arent just flicking your wrist like sairento? swords of gurrah is dead and swords of gargantua is dead and you cant even buy it anymore
>>405337814
I still stand by legendary tales having the best sword combat. Shit game though and not worth the buy just for having nice feedback on parries.
>>405337814
Until You Fall is satisfying to play and it's aesthetically sword fighting. It's very "gamey" sword fighting though, making no attempt to be physically accurate, just patterns that you swing and block to. Feels good at least. I guess kind of like what swords of gargantua did though, if you liked that. It's not super deep mechanically, but with the magic and weapon upgrades, there's still some variety.
>>405340019
there's no variety and I burnt out hard after playing the same levels for 10 hours, different weapons don't help with that
hard to recommend unless its on deep discount
>>405340342
Eh, I still think it's a good game overall, even if it doesn't stretch very far as a roguelike. It really is satisfying for those first few hours, and coming back for a run every so often.
Makes me wonder if at this point anybody has made a skyrim VR mod that does the same gamey "swordfighting" mechanics for VR. I feel like that could work well even inside the confines of todd's game, and then you wouldn't be stuck in the same 3 levels.
>>405327156
Yeah. As far as other launch-era FPS went, they were mostly literal shooting galleries. Arizona at least let you move around a variety of environments and explore for weapons/ammo.
>>405337814
I've played almost all of the VR sword combat games and not a single one completely scratches that swordfighting itch. Some are good, I like Blade and Sorcery the most, but when it comes to depth most of them are extremely lacking. Overused generic unity animations, braindead AI that charge straight at you, no game beyond arena fighting and physics that only take into account how hard you hit something seem to be the common pitfalls.
Swordsman VR is comparable to Blade and Sorcery. It has smoother parries/weapon collision with the enemies but both share the issue of attack animations phasing through if you try to control their weapon for too long. Even on the highest difficulty the AI is still slow enough to be easy in my opinion. The campaign is a series of arenas and boss fights.
Legendary Tales tries to bolster itself with rpg mechanics but there's nowhere near enough content for it yet.
Hellsplit Arena has a 'campaign'. It's still just fighting paper mache zombies in an arena.
Until You Fall is very different, more of a rythm game with some movement strategy than swordfighting.
God I wish Swords of Gurrah wasn't dead.
Tales of Glory is Mount and Blade if it were made using Unity assets by one dude. As cool as being part of a big battle is the game is exactly as jank as it sounds.
There's a ton of garbage, asset flip and no content in dev games in this genre. It's stugging to move past the tech demo label.
>>405341549
Inpa Sekiro+ADXP get there.
HTC is dead, right?
>>405368159
arent they releasing a new headset? probably gonna be shit
>>405368159
They teased something new at the start of the month. Back when they teased the Cosmos they spent far too long trying to build up hype before actually announcing it so hearing nothing else about it yet is consistent.
It's probably a followup to the Vive Focus rather than anything new but who knows.
>>405368159
They're still the business de facto.
Bump. But maybe due to the slow down it's time to merge with /vrg/ again for the mean time. There's nothing to categorize with this too slow of a post rate
>>405393183
I still prefer the split. At least here I can get some eventual discussion regarding hardware or upcoming games, instead of /vrg/ where you ask a question, and then suddenly there's 15 posts right after avatarfagging for attention.
On that note, anyone played Moss 2? I'm curious to know if it's any longer than the original, or if I ought to wait on a sale, since it's not like there's that many games in the near future to look forward to other than perhaps some titles getting out of early access hell.
>>405393951
Understandable. Well as long as you can maintain the thread being alive then you have the right to have and enjoy a thread with like minded anon. Such is the 4chan way.
Moss 2 I want to play imo but I have Moss 1 yet haven't even started it yet. Dunno something about having a mouse as a hero.
>>405394243
Moss 1's only about three and a half hours long after that updated which added some optional areas. I found it cute and charming. One of the earlier VR games I played where the sense of world scale was nigh-on perfect. Quill is a mouse-sized fucking mouse. Simple gameplay, but I didn't mind it.

each time i go into the EU ATT server's forest, i lose connection to the server
why does this game shit itself so much in the forest for me

How is the Reverb G2 for room scale stuff? I'm getting it primarily for simming, but I do want to play other VR games. I only ever see it recommended for simming.

>>405351301
My brother got a quest 2 and when I tried gorn on it I felt that the enemies were getting too close for some reason. I could scarcely see where the attacks were actually hitting since I had no body model, and when I tried to pull my head back out of the way to sway counter I still got hit. Am I retarded, is it a problem with that game in particular, or a settings thing?
>>405417676

i bought Asus PCE-AX58BT for quest 2, but i cant get internet on quest 2 through it

>>405401016
>>405404438
its still buggy and not much to do. the breaching is very samey. physics stuff is cool, but buggy, climbing can be frustrating. if the dev would put work into cool missions instead of procedural areas that all look the same it would be much better. id say it'll need a lot more time at the pace the dev is working at to become anything good. Shame too because the ideas are there.
>>405417676
Some skins can be nice but gun charms are always shitty. When Pavlov adds those things in I'm not saving anyone's gun if it has one on.

Emergent mechanics...
>>405454427
Are you making anything in particular or just experimenting?
>>405455202
Thanks. Making the guns was the most fun part so far, to the point I actually had to stop myself to work on something else once all roles were filled (instead of becoming Anton 2.0).Might still add a revolver just for fun though
>>405457825
Yeah, I already have a game in mind with setting and setpieces and stuff, though I want to keep things relatively simple so that there's a good chance I'll actually finish it. I always liked Compound's and Pavlov's straightforward way of handling weapons and wished there'd be more single player games that focus on gameplay instead of gimmicks.
>>405459826

>>405454427

>>405463015
How do 90% of 3D indie devs not know or forget about smooth shading? It's one of the first things you learn in Blender. And they don't do it just as an artistic choice, I know from experience. It's almost like nails on a chalkboard to me, so their ignorance feels crazy.
>>405464561
I used blender for about 3 years before I realized 'shade smooth' was an option.
>>405464561
Smooth shaded requires some effort to look good, either from fixing mesh issues or by getting the shadows looking good. Flat shaded is less effort and more consistentconsistently shit.
Would it kill them to put some noise or patterns on their flat color textures too?
>>405463015
Well only advice I can give is to use smooth shading and mark sharp on corners. Then it's just a case of some detail masks and maps to make it look great. Unity's standard shader is really powerful when you're using it to its capacity.
>>405464113
It's literally the best use for VR and pretty much the only thing I play it for

Only has 18 reviews--I think I'm still the only person on this site who has shilled it. Not very polished, but I think the wide variety of creative mechanics, combined with the tough difficulty, makes it stand out from other games in this genre (first-person third-person: Astro Bot, Moss, etc.) It can be frustratingly hard, cheap at times, though it scratched my itch of wanting that triumphant feeling from beating games like Rayman or Crash Bandicoot.
>>405498043

I recently got a G2 V2 and while the headset itself is great for the price, however the controllers and tracking (at room scale) are shit. I mostly got the headset for sim use as well, but decided to try some VR games (Alyx, Blade & Sorcery) and the cheap ass included controllers completely took me out of the experience, especially since they lose tracking all the damn time. On top of this WMR is also garbage. Playing assetto corsa or DCS with it was great though.
I ended up returning the headset in the end since I do want to play at least some VR games. I've now ordered the index and vive pro 2. I'll try the index first and if the resolution is too low I can use the vive with it's controllers/tracking..
>captcha: SAV0RY
>>405411978
It's ok I guess. The new fork of OVRSC helps a lot if you have the dosh for another Vive tracker to put on it. Using it with FBT and Index controllers.

I put 10 hours in Into the Radius in two days. Great game,. Only thing I dislike is feedback when hitting enemies. I wouldn't even mind the shadowy people if they changed the weird red dust and had better sound/ragdolls. Ideally "real" enemies but I guess that's not what the dev wanted to go for.
>>405527468
Zenith was a shallow MMO with heavily recycled content barely 3 hours in. The combat felt okay to me for an early VR mmo but there was barely any strategy required for the content at launch. Cooking and gear crafting were almost pointless side activities with little benefit to them prior to endgame. Gliding at least felt good. They've since added dungeons and some new quests. Cosmetics and pets are currently being tested.
I think it has a lot of poor design choices but still had fun playing it with /vrg/gg/. Interest died pretty quickly after launch and the few that were left were spread out at different levels making progressing together difficult.
>>405527468
>Also what happened to Zenith, I remember people being hyped about it.
The same thing that happens with most mp games vrg(g) plays. Gets played to death for several months and then collectively dropped. It's a sad vicious cycle.

>can't even delete my post to hide my shame, stuck on have to wait longer
When did this even happen. Anyway regarding DCS all the information I can find is ancient and no idea what's applicable anymore. Vtol was made in response to DCS' hotas but seems like when the games are compared now it's not controls that really come up

>>405567456
Miss combat is a result of fighting with no stamina or skill points in the weapon you're using. It's a CRPG more than an adventure RPG like the subsequent games. Everything is a dice roll according to your stats and each action is more or less just telling the DM what action you want to take and them rolling for it. So naturally in vr it's absolutely terrible.
>>405570641
I wish they kept Seekers freezing in place when they die from the beta instead of them becoming regular ragdolls, shit was creepy as fuck and it made you stay tense because you couldn't see if they died at first glance
I asked about the Reverb G2 earlier and although I was on the fence about it for non-simming VR, I saw that it's $400 now on the HP store (yes it's the revision) so that sealed it for me. Just posting that here in case anyone else is interested.

Anybody else plaing Pavlov with the Quest (1)? I just want to know if I'am just terrible at the game or if the technical disadvantage compared to most other players is too great. (I'am playing via VirtualDesktop on steam.)
>>405563325
One gun is insanely OP and you can't find a match without someone using it, making the game completely unfun.
Horde, one of it's biggest update is glitched because a zombie will get stuck and you won't be able to find them.
It's currently on season 2, but they haven't released a patch this month.
>>405599273
Not from the tracking. If you play wireless there's latency that could be hurting you. I recall seeing mention on the game's discord of Quest 1 and Rift S having slightly lower rate of fire for automatic weapons than headsets >=90hz but it would almost be imperceptible if still true.
>>405604292
RoF tied to framerate would be such a programmer noob's mistake.
>>405604292
I feel like resolution is my main handycap. I often get killed from a distance, where I only see vague pixel schemes.
I finally took a peek into Meta's Horizon. It is such a huge piece of glitchy shit filled with nothing but kids. Why is Zucc going all in for this?
>>405604508
>>405604292
The fire rate isn't directly tied to the frame rate. Your client will fail to send shots and hits to the server if they happen to land on dropped frames. As long as you're getting 100% of your refresh rate, there will be no practical difference in your rate of fire.
>>405397012
>>405397905
I don't know if they fixed it but you can stick your face into any wall and use the "reset position" option in the menu to clip through. Do this by the main gate and you'll teleport on top of the castle wall where you can explore the whole castle and you just jump down when you're done. Its worth it since enemies and items will always spawn there at any point during the game so you're missing out on loot by not going there.
>>405605603
That shouldn't affect Airlink at all. Its controls are polled separately, and also lock in the last input, which you can test easily if you hold an analog stick forward in any game and then forcibly cause the headset to lose wireless signal.

>>405775006
I have one with a 5600x and Quest 2 headset. It gets the job done a bit below the native headset resolution in Airlink 90Hz (so it's blurrier than it should be) but if in retrospect I only cared about VR and had the money I would've gotten a 3080 12GB/3080Ti. It's probably more than enough for older headsets with lower resolution. If I were you I'd wait for either a good price drop on those or for new GPU announcements.

I'd definitely wait a month or 2 if you're looking at a 30xx card. When the 4080 drops prices should come down.
>>405780610
A 30xx is really not necessary for excellent vr. A 2080 ti would do the job just fine and they are going to be under $500 once the 40xx hit saturation. And if you are lucky you could easily get by with a 1080 ti, just no dlss, but probably to be had for $250 or less.
>>405789028
The card you need depends on your headset resolution. Higher resolution HMDs would want at least a 3080

If you want to run Index at 150% resolution (which is what I'm personally comfortable with), a 3060Ti is definitely not going to cut it. I know Quest 2 and Virtual Desktop uses some kind of crutch to render games at higher framerates if you can't do it natively but I've tested both and I really would want to run my games like that if I had a choice. As dumb as it sounds, it's technically running at 90fps but it doesn't "feel" like 90fps.

I have a Quest 2 and I can confirm the few times I have a lot of headroom and Virtual Desktop switches to "native" 90hz without spacewarp is instantly noticeable. Lightsabers are the perfect melee weapon for VR because the blade supposed to have no weight so the fact that you only feel the controller in your hand makes it believable. Unfortunatly the property is owned by Disney so we likely won't see any SW VR game outside of mods.

>>405900908
it's extra development cost, indie game devs will have a hard time getting the license.
>>405901390

I think fov, binocular effect in headsets is pretty annoying even if it really is in the corner of your eye, dudes who have used pimax headsets always tout how great the fov improvement is, plus with pancake lenses becoming popular theres even more of a reason since you can really look around instead of keeping your eye near the center
>>405940912

>describes sweet spots
>>405941076
pancake lenses have bigger sweet spots, therefore it makes more sense to have bigger screens and lenses to provide more fov since you can actually look at something in the corner of your eye instead of having to turn your head with higher sweet spots, as opposed to having a bigger screen with edges youre not going to look at

the only thing that will attract them is money
kind of money that sony gives for adding vr mode
>>405946457
To make money they need people who will use headsets. Even within existing headset owners there's reluctance to actually use it because it is a significant commitment compared to other activities. You have to start things up, wait for them to load, then you can only do VR things while wearing it. You can't even do basic computer tasks without constant annoyances.

>>405948126
Fortunately the virtual keyboard on Oculus DASH works for any task a real keyboard is needed. Honestly don't know why SteamVR is so fucking behind.
>>405948495
I think Valve's strategy is to just sell VR games and provide the bare minimum to run them through Steam on headsets made primarily by other companies. Leading the market on hardware is of no interest to them because it requires significant R&D and risk.

Would be nice, or simply a "Hold bag facing down and shake it" trigger to just have shit auto-remove from it.
Making objects float in the air is fun. Just sit them on top of something you're holding for a little while and the physics will settle, freezing it in place.
Holy fucking shit I am getting FILTERED by runner. I don't think it's that hard but I'm getting flashbacks to the highway shooting section of Yakuza and I literally cannot clear the first level. Also I wish the motorcycle had head tracking or something so it would go where you lean. Better yet handlebars so i can counter steer, that would be sick as fuck. Actually, anyone know any good motorcycle riding games? Or just tips for runner I guess, although I'm afraid it's literally just shoot shit and don't get shot. I don't understand the plasma blade.

£530 AND you have to rebuy all the games.
Sony doesn't understand how badly this is going to fail. It needed to be £350 at most. The Quest 2 mogs it in value since the games 80% of the time are crossbuy, you can use it on PC then, which gives it upscaleability and a universal library thats future proofed in a way.
Sony are literally offering nothing to justify its price.

Got it as part of a bundle somewhere, I think. Don't remember.
If you're on the fence about buying it, it's good up until enemies with armor show up. Enemy armor in the game appears to act like a full body forcefield. A shot that connects has to beat a dice roll to pen based on the ammo type. If the roll does not pass, no damage is done. No weak points, no exposed gaps, no breaking the armor. And this will be on enemies traveling in squads and firing back.

Pirated the 1.0 version back in 2020 when going through VR games as a try before by. Didn't like how janky it was and it just clearly wasn't there yet. Waited until about June of this year and it's finally a lot more polished and something I can fully recommend paying full price to people. Good games like Stalker may be eurojank as fuck but they have a certain magic in the design/experience that elevates it and makes it worth playing. Jesus christ don't remind me. Before it sold out to fuccboik it was already pretty shaky and firmly in the fun with friends category. Then the extra large lobby mod was killed because it wasn't sweaty competitive enough. Then it sold out to quest and the graphics got shat on and functionality of scopes and smokes got destroyed. Then I think there was a split where the more hardcore PC players used the pre-quest beta branch but the already small and cancerous playerbase couldn't really sustain itself. God only knows what the fuck happened after that. I couldn't bear to even launch the game.
I swear that game should have been dead and buried a long time ago. Shit game with shit game modes that attracted the worst kind of sweaty faggots that sold its soul and somehow got even worse. everyone is touting it as the next big thing but almost no one (developers) seem to even fuck with it.
Games are few and far between, great games are even more rare.
new headsets keep popping up but it seems like content is pretty much non existent.
>>406115970
It's pretty simple the headsets are expensive so the user base is very small, it's not worth making a game for most developers outside of tiny indies. The Quest 2 is cheap enough for mass adoption but the PC required to run PCVR is still too expensive so all we are getting now is Quest exclusives until something changes on the PCVR side.

Weird. Maybe corrupted or something, who knows. Try redownloading it and giving it another shot. If that doesn't work, I'm as lost as you.

i figured it out, its a 7zip bug. I downloaded winrar and repaired the files, worked perfect after that.
>>406115970
There are multiple factors that make headsets a niche market, which discourages developers from making games, which feeds back as one of the factors against buying headsets. Games aren't going to break the cycle. Even if major developers all released VR games, it wouldn't sell enough headsets to justify their expenditure and it would be sustainable. It will remain as an enthusiast market.
The hardware needs to become cheap and ergonomic enough, with a purpose outside of games, to get it to the point where there's a large enough market to justify making games. I predict it will ultimately be a device with the form factor of glasses that replaces smart phones, but the technology won't be there for years. This development needs to be done at a loss, and it seems to be what Facebook is attempting.

How? PS Moves have 7 buttons and a trigger each, no analog stick, via PSVR2's controllers which have two triggers, two faces buttons, and a stick. There's no "one size fits all" way to map it logically to the new controllers that would make sense on every PSVR1 game.

I am still waiting for GPU prices to drop so i have more games that i can play but it is not a meme there are so few games that keep you playing for a longer time.
I also bought Synth Riders which is fun and my first rhythm game but i can't play that the whole day.
Skyrim even modded was a huge let down but i even hated flat skyrim so whatever. I can't get morrowind to run in VR.
VRChat is interesting as a first experience but it gets boring fast, people don't talk they just fuck around or look into mirrors.
>>406061158
yes i would love to switch away from NVIDIA.
But i have no more patience, i just have a 2060 Super, it is not good enough for many games. I guess i need to wait until january or so if i want a good deal, or i just buy a used 3080.
>>406253798
Welcome to VR, there are basically no 'play all day' games. Into the Radius gets close since I poured 110 hours into that, and flatgame VR mods have extended gameplay. Especially outer wilds vr. I've been recommending that for like a year.
>>406254142
I'm in the same boat. I'd love to switch from nvidia, but I am not going to wait until dec 12 for the cards to come out, then until january/feb to find out if the cards are any good for vr
>>406255880
there's skyrim vr and fallout 4 vr, but yea, we need more games.

Try some electrical contact cleaner if you haven't yet. Touch controllers seem to easily let dirt and dust inside which is the more common form of drift. It won't fix wear related drift though.

absolutely guaranteed to be a shit port. Uses definitive edition ARM versions as a base and it's being led by the man who early tanked Team Bondie and nearly tanked L.A Noire due to mismanagement and hubris.
>no gran turismo 7
It's a cut-down mode with lower graphical fidelity anyway.
>NO BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY
Because it's not trivial to fucking solve you dunce. That's what happens when you buy into mass market half assed consumer products on a closed platform. They come with compromises and end up in the closet like every other throwaway console accessories.
>>406203413
It will work for a shit low res headset in shit games for babies I guess. Not that good with my G2 for simracing.
>>406270258
That was a list of VR games that can be considered system sellers, my point was that it's embarrassing how they had none of them in what was basically a launch day lineup.

>Anyone played Tales of Glory? I am not that impressed with the demo but the campaign could be nice.
There is no "campaign" it's basically intro - you're a prince, your king dad is killed - now go and unite the lands. Then you are basically free to do whatever, basically the same as Mount and Blade.
Having big battles which have actually have some "story" sense, even if it's jank elevates the game above Blade and Sorcery so much.
>>406272347
What GPU do you recommend then?
>>406245120
That's a murrifat freight train game. Completely different experience.

>>406277091
I can't rec anything because me I'm looking for an upgrade myself but I can't decide at all. 4090 is an overpriced meme. Like way overpriced. 4080 is a scam and still looks overpriced. AMD I guess is around 1k, even though that's still to much for what they're offering, but price aside, it's still fucking AMD. AMD is trash. 3000 series I don't think are worth it really and I don't want to buy a used cummed on card. In store prices might not go that low, and even then a 3090 is still not good enough for simracing with the G2.
I guess I'm waiting for 4080 price and benchmarks, and if they're good I'll take the L on the pricing, but I really doubt they will be that good. I'm waiting for 79000 TXTXT or whatever the fuck it is benchmarks, but AMD is obviously trash regardless. Someone said that due to the specs their new card should be good for VR, but I don't fucking know.

I had a really bad drift problem with my controller and I used this and it worked amazing. The drift is gone and hasn't returned yet. I used it on my joycons, PS5 controller, pro controller. Some of them didn't have a drift problem but it all feels like it improved somehow.

>>405791343
Yeah, this. Just like you get a GPU based around your monitor plans and you wouldn't buy a 1660 Super to play at 4k, you wouldn't buy one to play on something like a Vive Pro 2 or, god forbid, a Pimax. An Index requires far, far less horsepower to drive at good settings and at least 90hz than something like a Reverb G2 does
Just bought The Swordsman
B&S, Rumble, and Swordsman are my top 3 play all day games.
Can't wait for competitive VR swordplay to happen. I'm gonna have so much fun.
Question for Index owners:
What GPU do you use? I've been wondering if I need to upgrade from my 1080 ti for better VR experience.

Yes. It's incredibly arcadey and not hurt much by using a controller, beyond less immersion. You won't be totally kneecapped, like you would a more complex sim.

VR MMORPG would be awful. People would not want to stand around for a game that's designed to hold your attention by skinner box techniques for 8+hours.

>>406390020
But guys the index released in 2019 and it's already 2023. Doesn't it just make sense for them to release something new already, or at least announce it? All of the other shit companies poop out a new headset each year. Valve being the standard setters for consumer headsets are expected to set the new standard already, no?
>>406392463
>meaningless fingertracking meme
>non-replaceable batteries in the controllers

Valve's VR standards are fucking garbage
what do you want a new headset for if there are no new games?
>>406393243
>>406393293
I need a reason to upgrade from my G2. Now the G2 sucks already don't get me wrong, but at this point I don't see a reason in dropping cash on something else, when a new groundbreaking and amazing headset should be coming out soon(ish).
>>406393441
no pont in upgrading, wait for more games.
if you really want to spend your mony you can get index base station and controllers for better tracking.
>Verification not required.
>>406393441
There is no new great headset
>>406393441
Anyone who tells you Valve is coming out with something soon is a delusional retard huffing copium. It's been "coming soon" according to some idiots for an entire fucking year now.
Unless you have over 2000 dollars to spare for Pimax 12k, there is no ground breaking headset on the horizon, and even that's just on paper specs right now which'll likely overpromise and underdeliver.
>>406381002
>>406381484
Shame. I liked the idea, but the game is just so fucking shallow and the production quality drops off a cliff after the first zone or two, which wasn't too high already.
>>406394126
I've done research on the base station and controllers and I've decided I don't want to go that route. Games are not an issue, the experience is.
>>406396378
I do have money but I will not buy a pimax.
>>406396378
>Anyone who tells you Valve is coming out with something soon is a delusional retard huffing copium. It's been "coming soon" according to some idiots for an entire fucking year now.
Retard. The only other company that has to cash reserves to go toe-to-toe with Meta is Valve. Meta's storefront and userbase is profitible but Zuck is infamously burning cash with a useless VRchat knockoff that not even normies want and wasting ridiculous amounts of money of R&D. We already know that they have Deckard prototypes and have been making specific improvements to SteamVR that reference deckard features. eMagin literally has a 4k per eye high refresh OLED panel that is literally confirmed as ordered to spec buy a customer (Valve) and named "Steamboat".
They've had their hands tied with Deck and dealing with shortages, but the hardware teams are separate and sharing technology between the two. It takes a lot of effort and collaboration with companies to launch products like this, and they have years of lead up time. Nothing is more annoying than someone responding to the notion of "just wait a reasonable amount of time" with
>"just wait?" lmao bro why don't I just wait for an eternity? IT'S NEVER COMING ;)
>>406396378
I'm still mad that nothing was announced at the VRfest despite hoards of retards claiming Valve would. Valve couldn't even make episode 3 after promising it for a decade, I am sure that given the company's ADHD they are chasing some other trend at this point.
Is the "game" part of H3VR actually worth it or is the game just mostly gun autism in shooting ranges ?
>>406418885
The latter. The actual game parts are underwhelming and very basic. The best game mode is S&D, but it's just going throw the same repeated grey hallways as the bad AI spawns around corners and tries to shoot you.
>>406418885
It's got some 'game like' sections, but the only one of any value is take and hold, which is a room by room take a position, hold a position, gain currency to buy weapons as difficulty increases game. It's okay. It's worth the money for take and hold and plinking autism alone, but the dev suffers from postnatal retardation and will only work on dumb shit that sucks.
>>406418885
Maybe. I think what frustrates people the most is that it is by far the most advanced VR weapons sandbox, but it isn't used for anything outside of the dev's arbitrary experiments. It might change when he finally implements his game planner system which will allow for far more advanced user made content, but it's months over due now and he's working on Christmas content now.
>>406419452
>>406419529
>>406419647
Thanks. I guess it's a wait for now while the good game modes get fleshed out.
>>406420280
>while the good game modes get fleshed out.
I need to emphasise that the dev is retarded; good game modes will not get fleshed out. Ever.
>>406420915
I hate to pick on people on their appearance but he does look like the kind of person that thinks working on dumb shit is better than making an actual game. But well, it's worked for him so far, and maybe he just really wants to add guns and potato launchers instead of gameplay features.
>>406419647
The thing that frustrates me the most about it is how jank the physics are. Reloading a gun is like playing operation where you try carefully not to touch the sides of the mag well. Then grabbing the charging handle or slide is also obscenely delicate because of the tiny grab points. Every time I play it I'm shocked this game was originally made for vive controllers with how terrible the controls are.
>>406422635
The state of the game makes a lot more sense when you realise trying out movie/game guns in vr is the dev's hobby. There won't ever be a proper game in it and the sandbox shooting ranges will always be the focus because that's what he enjoys making. It's even more obvious when you see the cool new features or guns are sandbox modes only and not even present in take and hold.
>>406424519
He's also a terminally online dude with a bizarre and frankly baffling stance on modding. It's his right though, since it's his game. We just have to hope 1.0 will be a compelling game before he burns out or nukes his game after a psychotic episode.
>>406430126
Didn't he backtrack on the whole modding thing and start working on supporting it?
>>406430126
>>406430714
He worked with modders before, but I think his in-game scripting system is meant to largely replace that so there's no way to add nazi flags.
>>406402085
Please reread my post you aggressive dumbass. I said anyone saying it's coming SOON is an idiot. Valve is absolutely working on something, that is a fact. But it's not coming any time soon. It's almost certainly either going to come late 2023 or early/mid 2024 at the earliest and no amount of hopium and patient diving from Bradly for the past year will change that.
Valve's worth is also a tiny blip compared to Meta's. Or at least it certainly was before the crash, who knows now. Valve does not have 10 billion dollars to piss away in a single year on R&D
I've beaten Boneworks.
I feel like the biggest problem with the game is that its mostly made around physics puzzles where physics is janky.
Is bonelab better in that regard?
>>406440374
Save yourself the trouble and consider Boneworks the end, Bonelab is shit and somehow jankier than before. It makes no improvements.
>>406440374
Not nearly as many physics puzzles. I can't actually recall any off the top of my head.

>>406457916
You are completely wrong.
>>406460439
The only thing H3VR has over ITR is that it has more guns to choose from.
>>406461161
>slide lock
>hammer operation
>separate slide and magazine release
>each part of the gun being a simulated physics object
>number of ammo types
>penetration simulation
>attachments
Whether you care about any of that is another matter, but it is outright incorrect if you think ItR comes close to what H3VR has.
>>406461948
>>406461161
An example: the case not only collides with the gun, it is also pushed by the movement of the bolt.
>>406461161
>>406462949
Another: you can't load a magazine fed gun without a magazine in ItR. This wasn't even an intentional feature, it just works because it triggers the same event as how the gun loads the gun using the cartridge and barrel objects.
With the devs of Blood & Truth announcing that their next game is some online action game for flat screens and not a VR sequel, I'm losing interest in PSVR2. I hope there are more first-party devs working on titles; if Insomniac isn't making Resistance VR or something that would be crazy

I've looked a bit into wireless capabilities for some headsets. Apparently they start chugging starting 150mb/s of data received because the decoding speed can't keep up with the feed. Does that mean that we can be/are going to be limited on the visual quality in wireless compared to what the computer is actually rendering ? I have a hard time visualizing what a 150mb/s bitrate video looks like.
Didn't realise a camera could spawn here.

I played a lot of Radius when it was in 1.x, I got up to the factory where I had to bring back a suitcase by hand. Stopped playing for some months and got back to the game for the latest update. Did some side missions, and the next main mission proposed to me is "Fixing a leak" in the Village. I checked the wiki real quick and this is supposed to be one of the first missions.
